As the national sport of Norway, it is one of the most popular winter leisure pursuits. INN will be hosting our popular ski day event on Saturday 27 th January. With professional instructors, a cosy laavo tent and lots of good humour, it is always a day to remember. Come and join us! Register here. Get married in Oslo City Hall From 1 st January the municipalities have taken over the responsibility for civic ceremonies from the courts. In Oslo, all couples were previously married in the district court. Now this can take place in the Munch Hall in the City Hall every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. One Friday each month the Mayor of Oslo, Marianne Borgen will perform the ceremony. Maria – Uneven steps toward adulthoodFotografiens Hus, 4th January – 28th January, 12:00 – 16:00Maria – Uneven steps toward adulthood is an exhibition by Magne Geir Bøe, displayed at the House of Photography. 15-year-old Maria has Angelman's Syndrome, a serious disability that makes her dependent on constant aid. Royal Norwegian Navy Band – New Year’s ConcertOpera House, 11th January at 19:00The Royal Norwegian Navy Band (RNNB) invites you to a New Year's celebration with Vienna as a common thread of the evening. Featuring Viennese waltzes, Viennese overtures Viennese operettas and duets. Soloists for the evening are Isa Katarina Gericke (soprano) and Thorbjørn Guldbrandsøy (tenor), and the concert will be conducted by Arvid Engegård. Sofa Sounds Oslo: Secret ConcertOslo, 12th January at 20:00Sofa Sounds are intimate, guest list-based concerts that present great live music at different locations in Oslo. Three artists/bands play four to five songs each, in a stripped-back set. The location of each concert is not revealed until the day before. The names of the performing artists remain secret until the concert starts. The venues alternate between private homes and other exciting locations, making the Sofa Sounds concerts a unique chance to meet local music enthusiasts and to experience the city's hidden gems. TNTRockefeller, 12th January at 20:00One of Norway’s biggest hard rock bands are back. 2017 saw the band embark on a 30-year anniversary tour for their Tell No Tales album, to the delight of audiences nationwide. The Opera OrchestraThe Opera, 13th January at 14:00Musicians from the Norwegian National Opera play their chamber music favourites. The bassoon plays the lead in the Opera Orchestra's third chamber concert of the season. The orchestra's bassoon soloist Kari Foss demonstrates the instrument’s potential for soloist playing and resonant sounds as she plays chamber music pieces by Jean Françaix, Lasse Thoresen and Franz Schubert. Guided tour of the Oslo Opera House – in EnglishFriday 12th January at 13:00The Opera House was designed by the Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta. Audiences can enjoy world-class opera and concerts on three stages. The Main Auditorium has 1369 seats, Stage 2 has 400 seats and Rehearsal Stage 1 seats 200 people.
