This study will try to treatthe renal stone disease using herbal preparationsinexpensive (WHO, 2000; Somasundaram, 1997).

BackgroundAll over the world majority of the people now fall thevictims for kidney stone problems. There is no specificmedical treatment available for this problem. The patients were categorized into three groups basedon their outcome namely, those of i). Stone free (treatedgroup); ii). Residual stone (on treatment) and iii).Underwent URS (Surgical). The states of haematuria, renal function as well as complication of newer siddhatherapy were noted.

ResultsPatients had ureteric stone. The mean follow-up was for17.41 days. The median follow up of 7 days. Maximum 60days. Minimum 24hrs. 41 patients satisfying all criteriawere included in the study. 21 Had ureteric stone. Themean age was 41.02. The male and female ratio is 33:8.

All ureteric stone patients received newer protocol ofsiddha medicine Piper cubeba – valmilagu with tendercoconut & Patham picin 50mg/kgb/w .Pt achievedcomplete ureteric stone free. 19/21.No complications oftherapy were noted during the course of study. 2 patientswere advised for URS. The Urologist found that theurethra was compressed by the iliac vein below the stone. So on similar pathological conditions our siddha protocolmay not be advisable. 27 Renal stone patients are underother protocol herbal preparation under another study.

ConclusionThe siddha treatment protocol is effective in renal stoneproblem especially urinary stones. In our series of 21patients, 19 achieved stone free status i.e., 90.47%. (While2 patients underwent ureteroscopy. size of the stone was1cm, 7mm and 6mm) who being well tolerated and ensuringgood compliance. The siddha protocol makes economythe corner stone of treatment of renal stone disease inour socio-economic status. In addition, the study alsoshows renal stone affect male more than female. Renalstone patients are in need of other protocol of siddhamedicine.
