To sensitize teachers about their roles and responsibilities

as the foremost leaders in assuring quality in higher

education.

To identify the role of the teachers in creating highly

competent individuals as leaders in various areas of

society including Agriculture, Fine Arts, Medicine,

Science & Technology, Social Science, Commerce and

various other professions.

To deliberate on issues and challenges before the teacher

in the ever changing social scenario

Teachers have always been considered as respectable

members of society. In Indian culture, a “guru” is highly

revered by all strata of society, as the guru guides and advises

even in hours of crisis. They are the true benefactors of society

and the role of the teachers in the building of a nation cannot be

ignored. The teacher can influence the immature minds and

mold the youth. Teachers are the most important part of the

society. With changing times, the role of the teacher has also

changed. Teachers are not mere transmitters of information but

facilitators in the path of students' urge for knowledge.

The success of any educational process depends to a large

extent on the characteristics and ability of the teacher who has

competencies such as interpersonal communication;

pedagogical empowerment and organizational leadership.

Professional competence results in bettering teacher

performance in terms of overall classroom effectiveness and

ultimately helping in nurturing society. Teacher education

should be focused on developing a positive attitude for the

profession. The teacher training institution spays attention to

innovations in approaches to pedagogy, and prepares teachers

to respond to various demands of the society.

This conference is planned to deliberate on issues

involved in building such competencies, which will help a

teacher to adapt to ever changing social situations. With the

modern technology and changing mindsets of the young

learners, it is essential to equip teachers with skills to deal with

these changes, ability to tackle new issues and come up with
