networks to strive for achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. The Forum will also provide opportunities for
the students of schools, UG, PG, and PhD to be involved in sustainable development programs of the world, with
particular emphasis on India. The OISCANs of Tamil Nadu, South India Chapter and committed teachers,
management of GURU NANAK COLLEGE will work together to achieve the purpose of the OISCA Global Youth
Forum 2019.
The OGYF 2019 will also attach special importance to “transformation” required for the achievements of the Goals in
India. Experiences of various countries will be shared with reference to action for rural development, access to water
and sanitation, increasing the forest cover, Agriculture and allied areas, action against climate change etc. The GYF
will bring youth from various countries to discuss the agenda and identify technology, infrastructure and other
solution for SDGs.
The priority of OISCA Global Youth Forum is to address the issues of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or
(Global Goals for Sustainable Development). It comprises of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General
Assembly in 2015 which are : 1- No poverty; 2- Zero Hunger; 3- Good Health and well-being; 4- Quality
Education; 5- Gender equality; 7- Clean water and sanitation; 8- Affordable and clean energy; 9- Decent work
and economic growth; 10- Industry innovation and infrastructure; 11- Reduced inequalities; 12- Sustainable
cities and communities; 13- Responsible consumption and production; 14- Climate action; 15- Life below
water; 16- Life on Land; 17- Peace, justice and strong institutions and Partnership for the goals. Efforts for the
SDGs were started in January 2016, and they will continue to be the guidelines for our local actions until 2030. The
Goals interconnect, in order to leave no one behind. It is important that we achieve each Goal and target at the
earliest. It is implemented in nearly 170 countries. Achieving the SDGs requires the partnership of governments,
private sector, civil society and citizens alike to make sure that we leave a better world for future generations. SDG is
presently in its fourth year of implementation and commitments are required to strive for the SDGs at the earliest.
OISCA INTERNATIONAL (Based in Japan)
OISCA International (Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement) was established in
Japan in October 6th, 1961 (17-5 Izumi 2-chome, Suginami, Tokyo 168-0063, Japan). The organization contributes to
humanity's sustainable development through a holistic approach emphasizing the interconnection of agriculture,
ecological integrity, and human spirit. To accomplish this, OISCA International implements and advocates hands-on
experimental programs for world citizens of all ages, transmitting knowledge and skills, and cultivating spiritual
equalities as dedication, self-reliance, and universal brother-sisterhood. Industrial refers to the promotion of
agriculture and other primary industries that are fundamental to human existence. Spiritual does not denote a
particular religion bur rather the need to nurture qualities such as self-reliance, dedication for one’s own community,
international brother-sisterhood and respect for Earth’s ecological integrity on which life is grounded. Cultural
represents the intent to encourage the magnificent cultural diversity that has enriched human life and the universal
need to promote cultural patterns such as culture of peace.
OISCA has 57 years of field experience working at grass root level in the area of development and environmental
conservation through many innovative programs. OISCA coined the term Furusato movement. The term furusato
is Japanese word which mean home. The Furusato movement is aimed at creating sustainable communities where
its residents work together in a spirit of co-operation and self-reliance to achieve their common goals. It is also aimed
at economic self-reliance, social security, environmental conservation and participation in policy formulation and
capacity building.
As on date OISCA International has its chapters and on-going projects in various countries and territories. They
include Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan,
Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palau, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Philippines, Singapore,
Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Uruguay, United Arab Emirates and United States of America.
OISCA International has undertaken many charity works and has won the following awards -
