These outstanding and unusual artists have come alongvery different musical routes to eventually find themselvesin a similar place. In the first half of the concert, Barleyplays solo Bach, and Joseph presents a short set of jazzstandards. In the second half, through the medium ofJoseph’s compositions and other jazz works, these twomusicians come together, showing their amazingimprovisational skills, for a unique musical journey.

Jin Ju was 3rd Prize-winner at the 2002 TchaikovskyPiano Competition where her thrilling playing broughtcomparisons with Martha Argerich. Intense musicality andpassionate commitment characterise her performances ofthe romantic repertoire and this should provide us with avery special account of Schumann’s Fantasy. Her Chopingroup consists entirely of some of his last and greatestworks.
