ICR Conference Role: Planning Committee Member

Jen is a Licensed Social Worker with a master’s degree in Social Work from Marywood University

and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University. Through over ten

years of crisis response and advocacy work with domestic and sexual violence survivors,

combined with experience in youth- and women-led international development efforts, she

cultivated a passion for working collaboratively with women and communities. In addition, her

experiences working in rural Uganda influenced her belief in partnerships and education as

powerful tools in creating change. While conducting her graduate research on sexual assault in

the university setting, it became increasingly evident that evaluating programs and policies is an

essential component of social justice-oriented work. Inspired by ASEC’s mission, she strives to

utilize evaluation findings to continually improve ASEC programs and highlight program

outcomes that not only speak to sisters’ individual achievements, but their contributions to their

congregations and to the social and economic development of communities in sub-Saharan

Africa. She is a co-author of a book chapter titled, “Promoting social justice in Africa through the

education and training of Catholic sisters”, published in the Handbook on Promoting Social

Justice in Education. She has also presented at numerous conferences within the U.S. and Africa

about ASEC’s programs and the positive impact of Catholic sisters in Africa.

of these contributions and document the role of the sisters in national building.
