Inspired by the ideals of 'VishwaBharati' of Gurudev
Rabindranath Tagore and with a deep desire to help
foreign students, an idea of 'Symbiosis' was
conceived by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, in the year 1971.
The motto of Symbiosis is 'Vasudhaiva
Kutumbakam' and truly for the foreign students at
Pune, it is a 'Home away from Home’. Symbiosis is a

SCMS started its journey in 2004 and what followed
was a path of discovery, excitement and activities
that has taken us one step ahead in our continuous
quest for perfection. Devoted to excellence in
teaching, learning and research at an early stage, we
develop students into not only leaders but
individuals with a strong vision to make an impact
globally! The institute is one of the best leading

industry.
CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT STUDIES
We are living in a dynamic age of technological development driven by innovation and strategy on the one hand, intensifying challenges and competition on the other hand. The world’s popular democracy India with its unique multifaceted advantages is predicted to be among the world’s highest growing nation in the coming years. Expansion of infrastructure, broader capital formation, better skills and a huge talent pool has created growth. Changes have bolstered India’s’ international economic standing, allowing her to compete with developed nations.
With shifts in consumer behaviour and expenditure pattern, India is expected to be the third largest consumer economy with consumption tripling to US$ 4 trillion by 2025. India's revenue receipts are estimated to touch Rs 28-30 trillion (US$ 385-412 billion) by end of 2019, and plans to achieve 40 per cent of its energy from non-fossil sources by 2030. Digitization has touched various facets of business dimensions and has now become the central theme of organizational strategy. Family businesses are the lifeblood of India’s economy which employs a major portion of the workforce and contributes significantly to the gross domestic product. With all these merits, transforming India to a 20 trillion-dollar economy by 2030 is a significant challenge before everyone.
Concern overtime has shifted from enhancing the economic progress towards creating overall well-being of people at large. Development dynamics have shifted from efficiency enhancement to adopting innovation dynamics in processes and products. There is a long research agenda pending especially in enhancing in-house research and development.
Low standards of living, inadequate healthcare system and high levels of corruption have impeded progress. These factors have
prevented the country from escaping the confines of its ‘emerging market’ categorization and ascending to the highly coveted ‘developed’ market status. Despite some political reticence, India does fulfil all of the emerging market criteria. In order for India to take-off, we must achieve a high gross domestic product and per capita gross domestic product, high level of industrialization, substantial technological infrastructure, sustainable economic development. Even with positive forecasts, traditional development may well trap India in the ranks of middle income, rather than high income, countries. It is essential for start-ups, corporate organizations, educators and government to come together in pursuit of economic collaboration and advancement to fill the development gap.
Recent developments demand extensive research, analysis of current trends and improved business models to fill the development gaps. Will technological advancements enable India to empower the West? Can Indian enterprise catch-up with global quality expectations? Can the governance shift more in favour of people oriented rather than process oriented? We invite you to attend the Conclave on International Business where we have a very distinguished guest Dr. Naushad Forbes, Co-Chairman of Forbes Marshall, Past President of CII, Chairman of the Centre for Technology, Innovation and Economic Research.
