SEATTLE — A gun brought to an elementary school near Seattle in a third-grade boy’s backpack discharged Wednesday, apparently by accident, and critically wounded an 8-year-old girl, police said.

The unidentified child who brought the gun to Armin Jahr Elementary in Bremerton, Wash., was booked into Kitsap County juvenile detention for investigation of unlawful pos-session of a gun, bringing a dangerous weapon to school and third-degree assault.

“At this stage of the investigation, detectives believe the shooting was accidental,” Bremerton police Lt. Peter Fisher said in a statement.

DucaTi general manager Fil-ippo Preziosi believes his team has made a step forward after three days of testing at Jerez. Test rider Franco Battaini rode on all three days, focusing on honing the electron-ics and setups of the new 1000cc GP12 bike.

Preziosi said that he was was satisfied that the bike has made a step forward and is keen to give race riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden a go on the updated ma-chine at the official Sepang test.

“We were lucky because we had three days with very good weather conditions,” Preziosi said. “And that enabled us to do quite a bit of work. NEW YORK - Evergreen boxing champion Bernard Hop-kins will return to the ring in April for a rematch against Chad “Bad” Dawson, who vowed on Wednesday to finish the job he started in their controversial title fight last year. The 47-year-old Hopkins (52-5-2), the oldest boxer to win a world title, will put his World Boxing Council light heavyweight belt on the line against fellow American Dawson (30-1) on April 28 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Their bout last October in Los Angeles ended when Hopkins injured his shoulder in the second round in an awkward fall after Dawson lifted him off his feet as they engaged. Dawson was initially declared the winner of the fight by technical knockout, but the bout was later ruled a no contest by the California State Athletic Commission.

still stung by the reversal and was eager for the fight. “On that night, I came to fight,” Dawson, 29, said at a Manhattan news conference. “I wanted to fight Bernard Hop-kins and I was looking forward to dethrone him that night. The way he pulled the stunt he pulled, it messed up all of my plans.

LONDON - The prospect of outcast Carlos Tevez pull-ing on a Manchester City shirt again moved closer on Wednes-day when manager Roberto Mancini said he accepted the Argentine striker’s apology for his behaviour over recent months.

Without a doubt the killers took action using wood and iron pole suspected only several minutes then wrapped their bodies with bed cover also sheets continued by moving them to victim’s Kijang Innova car DK 1268 IS. Around 3 am local time, Heru, his family and colleagues left the house with chronology Heru drove the car with his wife, child, SD and HD as passengers while HM and AK each drove victim’s motorcycles Jupiter MX DK 7506 and Yamaha Mio Soul DK 8865 CT towards West Bali through alternative routes. Around 2.30 pm local time, they stopped at Raya Denpasar-Gilimanuk Street specifically at Banjar Sumbul, Yeh Embang, Mendoyo, Jembrana in a local’s plantation and placed their bodies there. “After throwing them, they crossed Gilimanuk Harbour then in Ketapang they separated and went home to their origins,” Indra concluded.

As stated, the case started to be revealed with a report from victim’s family and after a number of check in the crime scene, many indication was found such as blood stains, tooth fall-ing, wood, motorcycles and car missing. Then in the middle of investigation, bodies in Jembrana were found with the two teeth matched with the bodies found especially on Purnabawa’s. Fur-ther on, Heru and his wife Anita was then captured at Situbondo, East Java, on Tuesday (21/2) at 10 am local time with Anita captured first while driving one of the motorcycles taken with no number plates and led to his hus-band at their house at Dusun Air Mancur, Jublagan Village, Panji, Situbondo, captured with no fight back. BASEL, Switzerland - Basel produced another Champions League shock as they ventured into uncharted territory in the competition on Wednesday, clinching a dramatic 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich to pile the misery on Germany’s biggest club.

The humble Swiss team, who qualified for the last 16 at the expense of Manchester United after a momentous victory against the English side, had St Jakob-Park rocking again as substitute Valentin Stocker scored an 86th-minute winner.

Basel, who often play in front of only a few thousand fans in the Swiss league, hit the woodwork twice, then survived long periods of Bayern pres-sure before snatching victory.

While Basel’s players milked the crowd’s acclaim, Bayern trooped off thinking the unthinkable.

Their Allianz Arena hosts the final this year but after failing to score an away goal they are in serious danger of their dream being dashed in the last 16.

Once exposed and positive to the deadly virus, the patients could not be cured so that they would just wait for the death. He explained the transmission of HIV virus could be through a variety of ways either through sexual intercourse, drug injection, breast-feeding by mother with HIV and blood transfusion.

According to him, the efforts to

suppress the transmission of HIV/AIDS conducted by the Badung Government in cooperation with the KPA Badung would never be optimal without being supported by the community. “To that end, the support and participation of all the societal components are needed to optimize the efforts in suppressing the HIV/AIDS transmission in the community,” he said.

The anger over the Quran burn-ing has sparked two days of protests across Afghanistan and tapped into anti-foreign sentiment fueled by a popular perception that foreign troops disrespect Afghan culture and Islam. The Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement that clashes dur-ing a protest in the eastern province of Parwan left four people dead. It said an investigation was under way to determine what happened. The other deaths occurred at a U.S.

base outside Kabul, where security guards killed one person, and in Jalalabad and Logar province, the ministry said.

The demonstration in Kabul drew thousands of protesters, who chanted “Death to America,” hurled rocks and set tires alight outside a complex that is home to foreign contractors, police and some coali-tion military forces. Nearby, angry demonstrators set a fuel truck ablaze on a main highway running east out of the city, sending black smoke billowing into the air.

for burning the copies of the Quran, which had been pulled from the shelves of the Parwan Detention Fa-cility, adjoining Bagram Air Field, because they contained extremist messages or inscriptions.

U.S. Gen. John Allen, the top commander of American and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said after the books had been mistakenly given to troops to be burned at a garbage pit without realizing it.

“It was not a decision that was made because they were religious materials,” Allen said Tuesday, one day after Afghan workers at the garbage pit found the books. “It was not a decision that was made with respect to the faith of Islam. It was a mistake. It was an error. The moment we found out about it we immediately stopped and we intervened.”

A U.S. and a French journalist were killed in the central Syrian city of Homs today, the 19th day of intense shelling by the forces of President Bashar al-Assad bent on quashing a growing opposition.

The deaths of American Ma-rie Colvin and Frechman Remi Ochlik were confirmed by French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe. They come less than a week after New York Times correspondent Anthony Shadid died in northern Syria from an apparent asthma attack and a day after well-known Syrian opposition Rami al-Sayed journalist died in Homs.

A Long Island native, Colvin wrote for the British Sunday Times. Like Shadid, she was con-sidered one of the best foreign cor-respondents in the world, covering global conflicts for decades. Ochlik was a freelance photographer who recently won a 2012 World Press Photo prize for a photo from the Libyan revolution.

In a statement, the editor of the Sunday Times called Colvin an “extraordinary figure.” “She believed profoundly that report-ing could curtail the excesses of brutal regimes and make the inter-national community take notice,” John Witherow wrote. “Above all, as we saw in her powerful report last weekend, her thoughts were with the victims of violence.”

Colvin and Ochlik were in a house in the Baba Amr neighbor-hood of Homs, the district hit hardest by what residents have described as almost three weeks of relentless shelling that has left hundreds dead. Video posted to YouTube purported to show their bodies in a house de-stroyed by tank shelling.

Activists say 10 Syrians were also killed and three other journal-ists were injured, including Col-vin’s photographer Paul Conroy, who the Times believes is “not too seriously hurt.”

Colvin filed a report for the BBC Tuesday, saying Baba Amr and its residents are besieged.

A team from the Vienna-based IAEA had hoped to inspect a site at Parchin, southeast of Tehran, where the agency believes there is a facility to test explosives. But

the IAEA said Iran “did not grant permission.”

The failure of the two-day IAEA visit could hamper any resump-tion of wider nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers - the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany - as the sense grows that Tehran feels it is being backed into a corner.

NEW DELHI — Since before the age of dinosaurs it has bur-rowed unbothered beneath the monsoon-soaked soils of remote northeast India — unknown to science and mistaken by villagers as a deadly, miniature snake.

But this legless amphibian’s time in obscurity has ended, thanks to an intrepid team of biologists led by University of Delhi professor Sathy-abhama Das Biju. Over five years of digging through forest beds in the rain, the team has identified an entirely new family of amphibians — called chikili-dae — endemic to the region but with ancient links to Africa.

Their discovery, published Wednesday in a journal of the Royal Society of London, gives yet more evidence that India is a hotbed of amphibian life with habitats worth protecting against the country’s industry-heavy development agenda. It also gives exciting new evidence in the study of prehistoric species mi-gration, as well as evolutionary paths influenced by continental shift.

“This is a major hotspot of bio-logical diversity, but one of the least explored,” Biju said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We hope this new family will show the impor-tance of funding research in the area. We need to know what we have, so

we can know what to save.”His first effort in conserving the

chikilidae was to give it a scientific name mirroring what the locals use in their Garo language. The chikili-dae is a caecilian, the most primitive of three amphibian groups that also include frogs and salamanders.

“We hope when the locals see the name, and their language, be-ing used across the world, they will understand this animal’s im-portance and join in trying to save it,” Biju said. “India’s biodiversity is fast depleting. We are destroying these habitats without mercy.”

The chikilidae’s home in long-ignored tropical forests now faces drastic change under programs to cut trees, plant rice paddy, build roads and generate industry as India’s economic growth fuels a breakneck drive in development. More industrial pollutants, more pesticides and more people occupying more land may mean a world of trouble for a creature that can be traced to the earliest ver-tebrates to creep across land.

Biju — a botanist-turned-herpe-tologist now celebrated as India’s “Frogman” — has made it his life work to find and catalog new species. There are too many cases of “nameless extinction,” with animals disappearing before they are ever known, he said. “We don’t even know what we’re losing.”

A new drug to treat advanced skin cancer, or metastatic mela-noma, has been shown to nearly double average survival time in a study of more than 130 patients, researchers said Wednesday. Made by Genentech, a US subsidiary of the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche, the drug, Zelboraf, was ap-

proved by the US Food and Drug Administration in August 2011, making it the first new treatment for melanoma in 13 years.

The latest study, an intermedi-ate phase II trial whose results are published in the New England Journal of Medicine, followed 132 patients at 13 medical sites in the United States and Australia. Study subjects survived an average of

15.9 months, when typical survival among people whose melanoma has spread to other organs is about nine months, it said.

“We knew this drug would make the melanomas shrink in a large proportion of patients and that it worked better than chemotherapy,” said senior author Antoni Ribas, a professor of hematology and on-cology and researcher at University

of California Los Angeles’s Jons-son Cancer Center.

“We did not know that patients taking Zelboraf were living longer until now.” The drug can be used to treat about half of all patients with metastatic melanoma, or about 4,000 patients in the United States each year, the researchers said.

Zelboraf, a twice-a-day pill, works by blocking a protein that is

involved with cell growth in patients with advanced melanoma whose tu-mors express a gene mutation called BRAF V600E. About 53 percent of patients with that mutation see their tumors shrink by more than 30 percent, while an additional 30 percent of patients see tumors get smaller but not quite as much.

The drug failed to elicit a re-sponse in 14 percent of patients.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is con-sidered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sail-ings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

SAN FRANCISCO - PayPal, the online payments company owned by eBay Inc, just got a new rival in the race to develop a mobile payment service that can be used in physical stores.

Boku Inc, a big online mobile payments company backed by venture capital firms includ-ing Andreessen Horowitz and Benchmark Capital, unveiled a new service on Thursday that lets people pay with any mobile phone anywhere credit cards are accepted.

Boku already provides carrier billing through about 230 wire-less carriers, including AT&T Inc, Vodafone Group Plc and Verizon Communications Inc in more than 60 countries. This service lets peo-

ple pay with their mobile number and get the transactions charged to their monthly phone bill.

Carrier billing is typically lim-ited to smaller online purchases, either through personal computers or within mobile phone apps.

Boku’s new platform, called Boku Accounts, allows purchases in physical stores, a much bigger market. The service will be brand-ed and offered by wireless carriers to customers, with Boku running the system in the background.

The move puts Boku in closer competition with PayPal, which is pushing its popular online payments service into physical stores. Google Inc is also trying to get its Google Wallet service into stores through a partnership with giants such as MasterCard Inc and Citigroup Inc.

PayPal’s in-store offering works with merchants’ existing point-of-sale terminals, but usu-ally requires a software upgrade. Google Wallet works with phones that have Near-Field Communica-tion, or NFC, chips in them and merchants need a terminal that supports this technology.

Boku’s service comes with a sticker that users can slap on the back of their mobile phones, turning any handset into an NFC-enabled device. It also comes with a payment card that can be swiped using existing retailer terminals, without a software upgrade, ac-cording to the company.

“We wanted this to be avail-able in any store,” Ron Hirson, co-founder of Boku, said. “You don’t need a new phone or a new terminal.”

U.S. banks were the S&P 500’s worst performing sector. Investors feared that weak euro zone growth would hamper countries dealing with heavy debt loads and the banks exposed to those debts.

“We’re very concerned around the markedly deteriorating credit fundamentals in Europe,” said Steven Baffico, chief executive officer at Four Wood Capital Part-ners in New York.

Data showing weakness in the euro zone services and manufac-turing sectors overshadowed the day-old deal to bail out Greece.

After touching a near 7-month high on Tuesday, the KBW bank index fell 2 percent. A key Eu-ropean bank index declined 2.5 percent.

The S&P 500 index failed again

to hold above 1,360, the high reached last May and a key resis-tance point that could spark further gains if broken. The benchmark index is up about 8 percent for the year and gained more than 20 per-cent from its October lows.

The Dow Jones industrial aver-age lost 27.02 points, or 0.21 per-cent, to 12,938.67. The S&P 500 Index dropped 4.55 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,357.66. The Nasdaq Composite fell 15.40 points, or 0.52 percent, to 2,933.17.

Oil services companies rose, partly offsetting the decline by banks. Drilling contractor Nabors Industries rose 7 percent to $21.78 a day after its operating results topped Wall Street expectations and as the chief executive detailed a retooling of the company.

The PHLX oil services sector index rose 1.7 percent.

Home builder stocks fell, with the PHLX housing sector index down 1.4 percent. Data showed U.S. home resales surged to a 1-1/2 year high in January but came in below forecasts.

Dell Inc was one of the biggest drags on the S&P, tumbling 5.8 percent to $17.10 in volume 2.5 times above its recent daily aver-age. The world’s No. 3 personal computer maker forecast revenue below expectations late Tuesday. The NYSEArca computer hard-ware index lost 1.8 percent.

After the market’s close, shares of computer maker Hewlett-Packard fell 1.4 percent after reporting quarterly revenue below expectations.

WASHINGTON - The United States said on Wednesday it was still considering whether to support Japan’s bid to join talks on a trans-Pacific regional free trade agreement, three months after Tokyo announced interest in the negotiations.

“Both governments agreed to continue the consultative process, with additional meetings to be arranged at a later date,” the office of the U.S. Trade Representative said in a statement after two days of talks with Japanese officials.

“The meeting was an opportunity for the United States to con-tinue the assessment of Japan’s readiness” to make significant market-opening reforms, USTR said.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda announced Tokyo’s interest in joining talks on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) back on November 11, prior to joining President Barack Obama in Honolulu for a meeting of Asia Pacific leaders.

The two sides had senior level talks earlier this month and followed that with technical level talks this week.

Detroit-based U.S. auto manufacturers have objected to Japan joining the TPP negotiations, saying they do not believe Tokyo is prepared at this time to dismantle “non-tariff” barriers that they blame for low U.S. auto sales in Japan.

Japan, whose tariff on U.S. autos is already zero, says Detroit’s claims are exaggerated and the real problem is that the automak-ers do not make cars suited to the Japanese market.

U.S. trade officials have said the decision on whether Japan will be allowed into the negotiations will be made in consulta-tion with the eight other countries currently involved in the TPP talks - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Chile and Peru.

Those countries set a goal in November of finishing the TPP talks this year.

Canada and Mexico have also asked to join the negotiations and are awaiting a decision as well.

after the riots. He argued that his party would see the further situation. If the situation was truly conducive, then police would conduct the examina-tion. Moreover, the riots also resulted in fire-raising and van-dalism against the facilities in the prison. “Most importantly, the situation must be conducive first. When the situation is under control and safe, then we will examine them,” he said.

When asked about the se-curity in Kerobokan prison after the riots, this two-star general disclosed that it would be maintained. Other than as-signing personnel on site, his party would also organize a regular patrol. Custody and patrol would be made until the situation would be really getting conducive. “So far, a number of officers have been alerted in the location. BOYOLALI - Hundreds of houses in Kismoyono village, Boyolali district, Central Java, were on Wednesday inundated after heavy rains since the night before caused the Kijing and Jampen rivers to overflow.

Kismoyoso village chief Joko Margono said the deluge started to invade people`s hous-es at 01.00 and kept on rising until Wednesday morning.

“This year`s flooding is worse than in 2011. Our village is flooded every rainy season,”

he said.The flood waters rose to the

height of an adult`s hips but at around 09.00 they began to recede. People were now busy cleaning up the mud and gar-bage brought by the flood.

But at seven hamlets in Kismoyoso the height of the flood waters ranged from an ankle to an adult`s breast. This happened in the hamlets of Ngampo, Tegalan, Beran, Gra-sak, Krajan, Jampen, Kedung-gowo, and Tambas.

There were no reports of fatalities because of the flood.

“The increase is quite good,” Co-ordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said here on Wednesday.

With the signing of the decree, the

National Logistics Agency (Bulog) is required to buy rice from farmers at above the base-buying price.

Hatta further said the new base-buying price favors farmers.

The increase accords with the proposal by the agriculture minister who sought a 27-28 percent rise in the base-buying price of rice and un-hulled rice.

According to agriculture ministry officials, the base purchasing price of rice should ideally be set at a range of Rp6,000 to Rp7,000 per kg.

The price hike, however, re-ceived a cool response from farmers

in Central Sulawesi province.“The increase is a tidy sum,

but still has not much influence because the price of rice at the farmers? level is currently far above the government`s rice purchasing price,” said Jhony, a chief of the farmers’ group in Palolo subsistrit, Central Palu, on Thursday.

He noted that the new base-buying price only serves as a price

standard for Bulog when purchas-ing farmers` rice.

Lewis, a farmer from Tolay vil-lage, Parigi Moutong district, said the price of rice at the local market is currently Rp8,000 kg.

Also, Bulog officials previously said that the 28% percent increase in the base-buying price will raise the amount of subsidized rice for the poor by Rp5 trillion.

JAKARTA - The directorate gen-eral of customs is currently examining no fewer than one thousand containers filled with suspected poisonous waste materials that have entered the country during 2010, a spokesman said.

“We have not yet released the con-tainers and are still examining their contents,” the directorate general`s spokesman, Martediansyah, said here Wednesday.

It was believed the containers could reach Indonesia`s customs territory because of help from certain parties, he said.

The directorate general had coor-dinated with the Attorney General`s Office (AGO) on the steps that needed to be taken on 113 containers holding poisonous substances that had been sealed at Tanjung Priok port.

Coordination with the AGO was necessary because of the possibility of corrupt acts having been committed in the importation of the hazardous materials.

“Our focus is on violation of the cus-toms law while the matter of possible corruption in the cases is the AGO`s business,” Martediansyah said.

Meanwhile, AGO spokesman Noor Rachmad confirmed that the office had

coordinated with the customs direc-torate general about the importation of the hazardous wastes but a formal order to investigate the matter had not yet been issued.

Earlier, it was reported the 113 con-tainers were filled with B3 category B (hazardous and poisonous) goods. Of the 113 containers, 89 had come from England and the rest from the Netherlands.

They had arrived at Tanjung Priok port in five shipments since late No-vember 2011 and their importer was PT HHS while they were filled with scrap steel mixed with chemicals, soil and tar.

Teep Beans:Lazing while Enjoying Slow Snack

Among the delicacy of Balinese food with hot spices,

in fact, Balinese community also retains easy-peasy

snack but sometimes a bit harder. One of them is the

bean of teep. Its tree resembles to that of breadfruit.

However, its beans are far smaller compared to that of

breadfruit. When its fruits have turned ripe, they usually

attract the presence of civet. Actually, this nocturnal cat

is only interested to eat the flesh of fruit. Similar thing

also happens to coffee beans. Since the skin of beans

is hard it cannot digest them so civet could only enjoy

the flesh. On the next day, those seeds could be found

at the feces of civet. All seeds remain intact. However,

if people see the ripe fruits first, they will not need to

wait the coming of civet to pick them.

To process the beans, they are first cleansed

thoroughly and dry under the sun. Afterward, they

should be fried without oil but sand. When they have

been finely cooked they can be enjoyed while relaxing

or lazing. As the shell and beans are slightly hard,

it may take a bit long time to open and chew them.

However, if they are indeed dry enough and cooked

well they must be easy to open and crispy. They are

good to consume as slow snack while chatting or

Ousted prison guards and some 400 heavily armed police and military spent the night massed outside the notorious Kerobokan prison, which holds more than 1,000 inmates, includ-ing 12 Australian drug mules.

Security forces had stormed the overcrowded prison at dawn on Wednesday to wrest control after a night of arson and stone-throwing, only to lose it again late that night.

“The prisoners took over the prison again, which forced se-curity personnel to fire warning shots into the air,” provincial military command spokesman Wing Handoko told AFP.

With the prison sealed off by the inmates, it was not clear if there were any casualties inside.

Handoko said that authori-ties would attempt to evacuate all foreign and female prison-ers from the complex, but did not say how such an operation would be carried out.

“We are trying to find the right moment to try and evacuate foreigners and female prison-ers,” he said. “We don’t want to take chances, just in case the foreigners become a target of the prisoners’ anger.”

Sixty foreigners are held at the jail, including 14 women, said Anang Khuzairi, head of security at Kerobokan. The jail is home to 1,015 inmates -- among them 125 women -- more than three times its intended capacity.

Shortly after, a flaming torch made of rags wrapped around a pole was flung from inside the prison and landed near a televi-sion broadcaster’s vehicle, but was extinguished before the fire could spread.

Shouting and the rattling of the prison’s inner gates had been heard before police opened fire, but after the volley silence descended on the jail, broken by police occasionally firing into the air.

As dawn broke over a prison that has been without electricity since the trouble first broke out, police again moved armoured vehicles and water cannons outside the jail walls.

The first riots were a distance away from the wings where the Australian prisoners are kept, but it was not clear whether the second night of trouble was any closer to quarters housing foreign inmates.

All 12 Australian prisoners at Kerobokan, including two on death row and six serving life sentences, were safe after the first night’s trouble, Aus-tralia’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

Among the Australians at the jail are convicted drug traf-ficker Schapelle Corby and a group known as the “Bali Nine”, who were caught attempting to smuggle drugs from Bali.

There have been a number of riots at the jail in recent years, including one triggered by a police drug raid in June.

It is one of Indonesia’s most notorious prisons, with a com-bustible mix of inmates includ-ing convicted murderers, sex offenders and others guilty of violent crimes.

The legend originating from the Chronicle Bebali Sidakarya was framed in a dramatic structure so that it could engender the art of mask performances. Started with the intro-duction of pangelembar mask, Kodi opened with the dance of hard mask and old mask. This section was an opportunity for the dancer to show off his dance skills. The hard mask appearing first had a strict facial ex-pression revealed through a straight-forward and nimble interpretation. On the way round, the old mask then showed off a gentle characteristic, old facial expression with white hair, eyebrows, and whiskers. His old age was also illustrated by the behavior of the unsteady and frail motion.

Emergence of the penasar figures marked the beginning of the story. Then, the figure with half-opened mask—eyes and mouth—acted as the narrator. He opened, controlled the storyline, and served as a com-mentator. Through the figure as Penasar, Kodi attempted to contextu-alize the setting of storyline through expression of some social criticisms at issue lately. Arsawijaya mask presented next was intended to make the atmosphere quiet. The mask with charismatic look framed with a smooth and supple choreography exposed gestures in its dramatiza-tion. In the performance played that afternoon, this mask was no other than Dalem Waturenggong.

Characters of the ordinary people called bondres turned to be a com-plement of the mask performance. Pajegan mask presented by Kodi in the Wantilan Hall of Bali Art Center Denpasar showcased some personifications of the average per-son. It was on the performance the capability of a dancer could be seen, especially how to give emphasis on the theme he played through the aspiration of small people. Denpasar, on Tuesday night (Feb 21) caused some inmates to be rushed to Trijata Police Hospital on Jalan Trijata Denpasar on Wednes-day morning (Feb 22). A total of three inmates were injured in the riots happening in the prison with overloaded capacity.

Based on observation made by Bali Post in the hospital, the three injured inmates were Roni Efendi, 32, an inmate of theft case (block C1) from Banyuwangi suffered from a gunshot injury on the calf of his right leg; Supriyanto, 34, an in-mate of drug case (block C2) from Jember suffered from an injury on the right hand; and Nyoman Tir-tayasa, 33, an inmate of drug case (block D) from Badung Mengwi suffered from an abrasion. Based

on the information compiled, such injuries were caused by glass shrap-nel and gunshot when the officers tried to secure the raging riots.

Having got medical treatment, two of the three inmates were tem-porarily commended in the deten-tion cell of Bali Police until the situ-ation of Kerobokan Prison turned conducive. Meanwhile, Roni one of the three injured inmates, until the publication of this news, was still under treatment in the Police Hospital due to a gunshot injury on the calf of his right leg.

Related to the condition of the three riot victims, the Division Head of Health Services of the Bali Police, Pramu Joko, with permission of the Bali Police Chief when asked for his confirmation said the three inmates were all in good health. Meanwhile, regard-

ing the gunshot injury was being investigated further. “I did not find a bullet in the wound, so that we do not know for sure the cause of his wound,” he said.

Just a reminder, the riots oc-curred again in the Kerobokan Prison, Denpasar, on Tuesday night. Even, the recent riots were followed with fire-raising and stone throwing in the prison area. Though a number of firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire in the prison, the effort got opposition from the inmates where hundreds of stones were thrown at the firefighters. Similarly, a standby ambulance in the parking area should step aside because the stones continued to fly from inside the prison. Teep Beans:Lazing while Enjoying Slow Snack

Among the delicacy of Balinese food with hot spices,

in fact, Balinese community also retains easy-peasy

snack but sometimes a bit harder. One of them is the

bean of teep. Its tree resembles to that of breadfruit.

However, its beans are far smaller compared to that of

breadfruit. When its fruits have turned ripe, they usually

attract the presence of civet. Actually, this nocturnal cat

is only interested to eat the flesh of fruit. Similar thing

also happens to coffee beans. Since the skin of beans

is hard it cannot digest them so civet could only enjoy

the flesh. On the next day, those seeds could be found

at the feces of civet. All seeds remain intact. However,

if people see the ripe fruits first, they will not need to

wait the coming of civet to pick them.

To process the beans, they are first cleansed

thoroughly and dry under the sun. Afterward, they

should be fried without oil but sand. When they have

been finely cooked they can be enjoyed while relaxing

or lazing. As the shell and beans are slightly hard,

it may take a bit long time to open and chew them.

However, if they are indeed dry enough and cooked

well they must be easy to open and crispy. They are

good to consume as slow snack while chatting or

Ousted prison guards and some 400 heavily armed police and military spent the night massed outside the notorious Kerobokan prison, which holds more than 1,000 inmates, includ-ing 12 Australian drug mules.

Security forces had stormed the overcrowded prison at dawn on Wednesday to wrest control after a night of arson and stone-throwing, only to lose it again late that night.

“The prisoners took over the prison again, which forced se-curity personnel to fire warning shots into the air,” provincial military command spokesman Wing Handoko told AFP.

With the prison sealed off by the inmates, it was not clear if there were any casualties inside.

Handoko said that authori-ties would attempt to evacuate all foreign and female prison-ers from the complex, but did not say how such an operation would be carried out.

“We are trying to find the right moment to try and evacuate foreigners and female prison-ers,” he said. “We don’t want to take chances, just in case the foreigners become a target of the prisoners’ anger.”

Sixty foreigners are held at the jail, including 14 women, said Anang Khuzairi, head of security at Kerobokan. The jail is home to 1,015 inmates -- among them 125 women -- more than three times its intended capacity.

Shouting and the rattling of the prison’s inner gates had been heard before police opened fire, but after the volley silence descended on the jail, broken by police occasionally firing into the air.

As dawn broke over a prison that has been without electricity since the trouble first broke out, police again moved armoured vehicles and water cannons outside the jail walls.

The first riots were a distance away from the wings where the Australian prisoners are kept, but it was not clear whether the second night of trouble was any closer to quarters housing foreign inmates.

All 12 Australian prisoners at Kerobokan, including two on death row and six serving life sentences, were safe after the first night’s trouble, Aus-tralia’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

Among the Australians at the jail are convicted drug traf-ficker Schapelle Corby and a group known as the “Bali Nine”, who were caught attempting to smuggle drugs from Bali.

There have been a number of riots at the jail in recent years, including one triggered by a police drug raid in June.

BOYOLALI - Hundreds of houses in Kismoyono village, Boyolali district, Central Java, were on Wednesday inundated after heavy rains since the night before caused the Kijing and Jampen rivers to overflow.

Kismoyoso village chief Joko Margono said the deluge started to invade people`s hous-es at 01.00 and kept on rising until Wednesday morning.

“This year`s flooding is worse than in 2011. Our village is flooded every rainy season,”

he said.The flood waters rose to the

height of an adult`s hips but at around 09.00 they began to recede. People were now busy cleaning up the mud and gar-bage brought by the flood.

But at seven hamlets in Kismoyoso the height of the flood waters ranged from an ankle to an adult`s breast. This happened in the hamlets of Ngampo, Tegalan, Beran, Gra-sak, Krajan, Jampen, Kedung-gowo, and Tambas.

There were no reports of fatalities because of the flood.

“The increase is quite good,” Co-ordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said here on Wednesday.

With the signing of the decree, the

National Logistics Agency (Bulog) is required to buy rice from farmers at above the base-buying price.

Hatta further said the new base-buying price favors farmers.

The increase accords with the proposal by the agriculture minister who sought a 27-28 percent rise in the base-buying price of rice and un-hulled rice.

According to agriculture ministry officials, the base purchasing price of rice should ideally be set at a range of Rp6,000 to Rp7,000 per kg.

The price hike, however, re-ceived a cool response from farmers

in Central Sulawesi province.“The increase is a tidy sum,

but still has not much influence because the price of rice at the farmers? level is currently far above the government`s rice purchasing price,” said Jhony, a chief of the farmers’ group in Palolo subsistrit, Central Palu, on Thursday.

He noted that the new base-buying price only serves as a price

standard for Bulog when purchas-ing farmers` rice.

Lewis, a farmer from Tolay vil-lage, Parigi Moutong district, said the price of rice at the local market is currently Rp8,000 kg.

Also, Bulog officials previously said that the 28% percent increase in the base-buying price will raise the amount of subsidized rice for the poor by Rp5 trillion.

JAKARTA - The directorate gen-eral of customs is currently examining no fewer than one thousand containers filled with suspected poisonous waste materials that have entered the country during 2010, a spokesman said.

“We have not yet released the con-tainers and are still examining their contents,” the directorate general`s spokesman, Martediansyah, said here Wednesday.

It was believed the containers could reach Indonesia`s customs territory because of help from certain parties, he said.

The directorate general had coor-dinated with the Attorney General`s Office (AGO) on the steps that needed to be taken on 113 containers holding poisonous substances that had been sealed at Tanjung Priok port.

Coordination with the AGO was necessary because of the possibility of corrupt acts having been committed in the importation of the hazardous materials.

“Our focus is on violation of the cus-toms law while the matter of possible corruption in the cases is the AGO`s business,” Martediansyah said.

Meanwhile, AGO spokesman Noor Rachmad confirmed that the office had

coordinated with the customs direc-torate general about the importation of the hazardous wastes but a formal order to investigate the matter had not yet been issued.

Earlier, it was reported the 113 con-tainers were filled with B3 category B (hazardous and poisonous) goods. Of the 113 containers, 89 had come from England and the rest from the Netherlands.

They had arrived at Tanjung Priok port in five shipments since late No-vember 2011 and their importer was PT HHS while they were filled with scrap steel mixed with chemicals, soil and tar.

SAN FRANCISCO - PayPal, the online payments company owned by eBay Inc, just got a new rival in the race to develop a mobile payment service that can be used in physical stores.

Boku Inc, a big online mobile payments company backed by venture capital firms includ-ing Andreessen Horowitz and Benchmark Capital, unveiled a new service on Thursday that lets people pay with any mobile phone anywhere credit cards are accepted.

Boku already provides carrier billing through about 230 wire-less carriers, including AT&T Inc, Vodafone Group Plc and Verizon Communications Inc in more than 60 countries. This service lets peo-

ple pay with their mobile number and get the transactions charged to their monthly phone bill.

Carrier billing is typically lim-ited to smaller online purchases, either through personal computers or within mobile phone apps.

Boku’s new platform, called Boku Accounts, allows purchases in physical stores, a much bigger market. The service will be brand-ed and offered by wireless carriers to customers, with Boku running the system in the background.

The move puts Boku in closer competition with PayPal, which is pushing its popular online payments service into physical stores. Google Inc is also trying to get its Google Wallet service into stores through a partnership with giants such as MasterCard Inc and Citigroup Inc.

PayPal’s in-store offering works with merchants’ existing point-of-sale terminals, but usu-ally requires a software upgrade. Google Wallet works with phones that have Near-Field Communica-tion, or NFC, chips in them and merchants need a terminal that supports this technology.

Boku’s service comes with a sticker that users can slap on the back of their mobile phones, turning any handset into an NFC-enabled device. It also comes with a payment card that can be swiped using existing retailer terminals, without a software upgrade, ac-cording to the company.

“We wanted this to be avail-able in any store,” Ron Hirson, co-founder of Boku, said. “You don’t need a new phone or a new terminal.”

U.S. banks were the S&P 500’s worst performing sector. Investors feared that weak euro zone growth would hamper countries dealing with heavy debt loads and the banks exposed to those debts.

“We’re very concerned around the markedly deteriorating credit fundamentals in Europe,” said Steven Baffico, chief executive officer at Four Wood Capital Part-ners in New York.

Data showing weakness in the euro zone services and manufac-turing sectors overshadowed the day-old deal to bail out Greece.

After touching a near 7-month high on Tuesday, the KBW bank index fell 2 percent. A key Eu-ropean bank index declined 2.5 percent.

The S&P 500 index failed again

to hold above 1,360, the high reached last May and a key resis-tance point that could spark further gains if broken. The benchmark index is up about 8 percent for the year and gained more than 20 per-cent from its October lows.

The Dow Jones industrial aver-age lost 27.02 points, or 0.21 per-cent, to 12,938.67. The S&P 500 Index dropped 4.55 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,357.66. The Nasdaq Composite fell 15.40 points, or 0.52 percent, to 2,933.17.

Oil services companies rose, partly offsetting the decline by banks. Drilling contractor Nabors Industries rose 7 percent to $21.78 a day after its operating results topped Wall Street expectations and as the chief executive detailed a retooling of the company.

The PHLX oil services sector index rose 1.7 percent.

Home builder stocks fell, with the PHLX housing sector index down 1.4 percent. Data showed U.S. home resales surged to a 1-1/2 year high in January but came in below forecasts.

Dell Inc was one of the biggest drags on the S&P, tumbling 5.8 percent to $17.10 in volume 2.5 times above its recent daily aver-age. The world’s No. 3 personal computer maker forecast revenue below expectations late Tuesday. The NYSEArca computer hard-ware index lost 1.8 percent.

After the market’s close, shares of computer maker Hewlett-Packard fell 1.4 percent after reporting quarterly revenue below expectations.

WASHINGTON - The United States said on Wednesday it was still considering whether to support Japan’s bid to join talks on a trans-Pacific regional free trade agreement, three months after Tokyo announced interest in the negotiations.

“Both governments agreed to continue the consultative process, with additional meetings to be arranged at a later date,” the office of the U.S. Trade Representative said in a statement after two days of talks with Japanese officials.

“The meeting was an opportunity for the United States to con-tinue the assessment of Japan’s readiness” to make significant market-opening reforms, USTR said.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda announced Tokyo’s interest in joining talks on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) back on November 11, prior to joining President Barack Obama in Honolulu for a meeting of Asia Pacific leaders.

The two sides had senior level talks earlier this month and followed that with technical level talks this week.

Detroit-based U.S. auto manufacturers have objected to Japan joining the TPP negotiations, saying they do not believe Tokyo is prepared at this time to dismantle “non-tariff” barriers that they blame for low U.S. auto sales in Japan.

Japan, whose tariff on U.S. autos is already zero, says Detroit’s claims are exaggerated and the real problem is that the automak-ers do not make cars suited to the Japanese market.

U.S. trade officials have said the decision on whether Japan will be allowed into the negotiations will be made in consulta-tion with the eight other countries currently involved in the TPP talks - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Chile and Peru.

Those countries set a goal in November of finishing the TPP talks this year.

Canada and Mexico have also asked to join the negotiations and are awaiting a decision as well.

Forty deaths would be the highest death toll from a train ac-cident since Feb. 1, 1970, when a train smashed into another at full speed in suburban Buenos Aires, killing 200 people. Crescenti said at least 550 people were injured, and said that 30 people remain trapped inside the first car, where rescuers carved open the roof and set up a pulley system to extract them.

The trains are usu-ally packed with people standing between the seats, and many were thrown into each other and to the floor by the force of the hard stop.

Many people suffered bruises, and many with lesser injuries were waiting for attention on the Once station’s platforms as helicopters and more than a dozen ambu-

lances took the most seriously injured to nearby hospitals.

There have been five serious train accidents since Dec. 2010; the most deadly of these happened last Sept. 13, when a bus driver crossed the tracks in front of an oncoming train, killing 11.

“This machine left the shop yesterday and the brakes worked well. From what we know, it braked without problems at previous stations. At this point I don’t want to speculate about the causes,” Ruben Sobrero, union chief on the Sarmiento line, told Radio La Red. The motorman has been hospitalized and the union hasn’t been able to speak with him yet, Sobrero added.

Roni was an inmate in the case of theft.

The three inmates were taken to Trijata Police Hospital to ob-tain medical treatment. Having been treated, the two inmates suffering minor injuries were directly taken into detention cell of Bali Police. Meanwhile, the inmate suffering an injury on the calf was still undergoing treatment in the Trijata Police Hospital. “Later on, at the time the three injured inmates will be taken back to prison. We will see the situation first,” he said.

Chief Totoy admitted there were no inmates examined

after the riots. He argued that his party would see the further situation. If the situation was truly conducive, then police would conduct the examina-tion. Moreover, the riots also resulted in fire-raising and van-dalism against the facilities in the prison. “Most importantly, the situation must be conducive first. When the situation is under control and safe, then we will examine them,” he said.

When asked about the se-curity in Kerobokan prison after the riots, this two-star general disclosed that it would be maintained. Other than as-signing personnel on site, his party would also organize a regular patrol. Custody and patrol would be made until the situation would be really getting conducive. “So far, a number of officers have been alerted in the location. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is con-sidered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sail-ings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

The anger over the Quran burn-ing has sparked two days of protests across Afghanistan and tapped into anti-foreign sentiment fueled by a popular perception that foreign troops disrespect Afghan culture and Islam. The demonstrations prompted the U.S. to lock down its embassy and bar its staff from traveling.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement that clashes dur-ing a protest in the eastern province of Parwan left four people dead. It said an investigation was under way to determine what happened. The other deaths occurred at a U.S.

base outside Kabul, where security guards killed one person, and in Jalalabad and Logar province, the ministry said.

The demonstration in Kabul drew thousands of protesters, who chanted “Death to America,” hurled rocks and set tires alight outside a complex that is home to foreign contractors, police and some coali-tion military forces. Nearby, angry demonstrators set a fuel truck ablaze on a main highway running east out of the city, sending black smoke billowing into the air.

for burning the copies of the Quran, which had been pulled from the shelves of the Parwan Detention Fa-cility, adjoining Bagram Air Field, because they contained extremist messages or inscriptions.

U.S. Gen. John Allen, the top commander of American and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said after the books had been mistakenly given to troops to be burned at a garbage pit without realizing it.

“It was not a decision that was made because they were religious materials,” Allen said Tuesday, one day after Afghan workers at the garbage pit found the books. “It was not a decision that was made with respect to the faith of Islam. It was a mistake. It was an error. The moment we found out about it we immediately stopped and we intervened.”

A U.S. and a French journalist were killed in the central Syrian city of Homs today, the 19th day of intense shelling by the forces of President Bashar al-Assad bent on quashing a growing opposition.

The deaths of American Ma-rie Colvin and Frechman Remi Ochlik were confirmed by French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe. They come less than a week after New York Times correspondent Anthony Shadid died in northern Syria from an apparent asthma attack and a day after well-known Syrian opposition Rami al-Sayed journalist died in Homs.

A Long Island native, Colvin wrote for the British Sunday Times. Like Shadid, she was con-sidered one of the best foreign cor-respondents in the world, covering global conflicts for decades. Ochlik was a freelance photographer who recently won a 2012 World Press Photo prize for a photo from the Libyan revolution.

In a statement, the editor of the Sunday Times called Colvin an “extraordinary figure.” “She believed profoundly that report-ing could curtail the excesses of brutal regimes and make the inter-national community take notice,” John Witherow wrote. “Above all, as we saw in her powerful report last weekend, her thoughts were with the victims of violence.”

Colvin and Ochlik were in a house in the Baba Amr neighbor-hood of Homs, the district hit hardest by what residents have described as almost three weeks of relentless shelling that has left hundreds dead. NEW DELHI — Since before the age of dinosaurs it has bur-rowed unbothered beneath the monsoon-soaked soils of remote northeast India — unknown to science and mistaken by villagers as a deadly, miniature snake.

But this legless amphibian’s time in obscurity has ended, thanks to an intrepid team of biologists led by University of Delhi professor Sathy-abhama Das Biju. Over five years of digging through forest beds in the rain, the team has identified an entirely new family of amphibians — called chikili-dae — endemic to the region but with ancient links to Africa.

Their discovery, published Wednesday in a journal of the Royal Society of London, gives yet more evidence that India is a hotbed of amphibian life with habitats worth protecting against the country’s industry-heavy development agenda. It also gives exciting new evidence in the study of prehistoric species mi-gration, as well as evolutionary paths influenced by continental shift.

“This is a major hotspot of bio-logical diversity, but one of the least explored,” Biju said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We hope this new family will show the impor-tance of funding research in the area. We need to know what we have, so

we can know what to save.”His first effort in conserving the

chikilidae was to give it a scientific name mirroring what the locals use in their Garo language. The chikili-dae is a caecilian, the most primitive of three amphibian groups that also include frogs and salamanders.

“We hope when the locals see the name, and their language, be-ing used across the world, they will understand this animal’s im-portance and join in trying to save it,” Biju said. “India’s biodiversity is fast depleting. We are destroying these habitats without mercy.”

The chikilidae’s home in long-ignored tropical forests now faces drastic change under programs to cut trees, plant rice paddy, build roads and generate industry as India’s economic growth fuels a breakneck drive in development. More industrial pollutants, more pesticides and more people occupying more land may mean a world of trouble for a creature that can be traced to the earliest ver-tebrates to creep across land.

Biju — a botanist-turned-herpe-tologist now celebrated as India’s “Frogman” — has made it his life work to find and catalog new species. There are too many cases of “nameless extinction,” with animals disappearing before they are ever known, he said. “We don’t even know what we’re losing.”

A new drug to treat advanced skin cancer, or metastatic mela-noma, has been shown to nearly double average survival time in a study of more than 130 patients, researchers said Wednesday. Made by Genentech, a US subsidiary of the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche, the drug, Zelboraf, was ap-

proved by the US Food and Drug Administration in August 2011, making it the first new treatment for melanoma in 13 years.

The latest study, an intermedi-ate phase II trial whose results are published in the New England Journal of Medicine, followed 132 patients at 13 medical sites in the United States and Australia. Study subjects survived an average of

15.9 months, when typical survival among people whose melanoma has spread to other organs is about nine months, it said.

“We knew this drug would make the melanomas shrink in a large proportion of patients and that it worked better than chemotherapy,” said senior author Antoni Ribas, a professor of hematology and on-cology and researcher at University

of California Los Angeles’s Jons-son Cancer Center.

“We did not know that patients taking Zelboraf were living longer until now.” The drug can be used to treat about half of all patients with metastatic melanoma, or about 4,000 patients in the United States each year, the researchers said.

Zelboraf, a twice-a-day pill, works by blocking a protein that is

involved with cell growth in patients with advanced melanoma whose tu-mors express a gene mutation called BRAF V600E. About 53 percent of patients with that mutation see their tumors shrink by more than 30 percent, while an additional 30 percent of patients see tumors get smaller but not quite as much.

The drug failed to elicit a re-sponse in 14 percent of patients.

He explained the transmission of HIV virus could be through a variety of ways either through sexual intercourse, drug injection, breast-feeding by mother with HIV and blood transfusion.

suppress the transmission of HIV/AIDS conducted by the Badung Government in cooperation with the KPA Badung would never be optimal without being supported by the community. “To that end, the support and participation of all the societal components are needed to optimize the efforts in suppressing the HIV/AIDS transmission in the community,” he said.

NEW YORK - Evergreen boxing champion Bernard Hop-kins will return to the ring in April for a rematch against Chad “Bad” Dawson, who vowed on Wednesday to finish the job he started in their controversial title fight last year. The 47-year-old Hopkins (52-5-2), the oldest boxer to win a world title, will put his World Boxing Council light heavyweight belt on the line against fellow American Dawson (30-1) on April 28 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Their bout last October in Los Angeles ended when Hopkins injured his shoulder in the second round in an awkward fall after Dawson lifted him off his feet as they engaged. Dawson was initially declared the winner of the fight by technical knockout, but the bout was later ruled a no contest by the California State Athletic Commission.

Former light heavyweight champion Dawson said he was

still stung by the reversal and was eager for the fight. “On that night, I came to fight,” Dawson, 29, said at a Manhattan news conference. “I wanted to fight Bernard Hop-kins and I was looking forward to dethrone him that night. The way he pulled the stunt he pulled, it messed up all of my plans.

LONDON - The prospect of outcast Carlos Tevez pull-ing on a Manchester City shirt again moved closer on Wednes-day when manager Roberto Mancini said he accepted the Argentine striker’s apology for his behaviour over recent months.

Tevez issued an unreserved apology on Tuesday and with-drew his appeal against a gross misconduct charge handed to him by the Premier League leaders after spending most of the past three months in his homelend without permission after a seemingly terminal fall-out with the coach.

“I’m happy with what Carlos said. Tomorrow I will talk to him,” Mancini said after City completed a 6-1 aggregate victory over Porto in the Eu-ropa League with a 4-0 thrash-

ing of the Portuguese side on Wednesday.

“I’ve accepted his apology. There’s a chance he can play for Manchester City again. I think he needs two or three weeks to train, and some games, but if he’s ready in two or three weeks that’s normal.”

“Carlo knows the team very well. In the last six or seven months the team has played very well and are top of the Pre-mier League,” Mancini added. “But Carlo is a top striker. He can help us to do a good job in the next two months.”

The events of the past 24 hours represent a remarkable turnaround after the 28-year-old seemed unlikely ever to play for the club again fol-lowing a bitter fall-out that began when he refused to warm up during City’s Champions League defeat at Bayern Mu-nich in September.

Around 3 am local time, Heru, his family and colleagues left the house with chronology Heru drove the car with his wife, child, SD and HD as passengers while HM and AK each drove victim’s motorcycles Jupiter MX DK 7506 and Yamaha Mio Soul DK 8865 CT towards West Bali through alternative routes. Around 2.30 pm local time, they stopped at Raya Denpasar-Gilimanuk Street specifically at Banjar Sumbul, Yeh Embang, Mendoyo, Jembrana in a local’s plantation and placed their bodies there. “After throwing them, they crossed Gilimanuk Harbour then in Ketapang they separated and went home to their origins,” Indra concluded.

As stated, the case started to be revealed with a report from victim’s family and after a number of check in the crime scene, many indication was found such as blood stains, tooth fall-ing, wood, motorcycles and car missing. Then in the middle of investigation, bodies in Jembrana were found with the two teeth matched with the bodies found especially on Purnabawa’s. Fur-ther on, Heru and his wife Anita was then captured at Situbondo, East Java, on Tuesday (21/2) at 10 am local time with Anita captured first while driving one of the motorcycles taken with no number plates and led to his hus-band at their house at Dusun Air Mancur, Jublagan Village, Panji, Situbondo, captured with no fight back. However, the situation could be controlled by internal guards and hundreds of police officers from the Badung Police.

SEATTLE — A gun brought to an elementary school near Seattle in a third-grade boy’s backpack discharged Wednesday, apparently by accident, and critically wounded an 8-year-old girl, police said.

The unidentified child who brought the gun to Armin Jahr Elementary in Bremerton, Wash., was booked into Kitsap County juvenile detention for investigation of unlawful pos-session of a gun, bringing a dangerous weapon to school and third-degree assault.

“At this stage of the investigation, detectives believe the shooting was accidental,” Bremerton police Lt. Peter Fisher said in a statement.

DucaTi general manager Fil-ippo Preziosi believes his team has made a step forward after three days of testing at Jerez. Test rider Franco Battaini rode on all three days, focusing on honing the electron-ics and setups of the new 1000cc GP12 bike.

Preziosi said that he was was satisfied that the bike has made a step forward and is keen to give race riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden a go on the updated ma-chine at the official Sepang test.

“We were lucky because we had three days with very good weather conditions,” Preziosi said. “And that enabled us to do quite a bit of work. With Franco Battaini, we continued with the test programme that was planned for the test team over the winter, trying some aspects of the electronics that we’ll keep working on with the factory riders at Sepang.

“I think we found out some inter-esting things that we’ll soon confirm with Vale and Nicky in Malaysia, where we’ll also continue working with the bike’s setup.”
