A continued favorite of DU event attendees, Ralph McDonald has been voted the 2006 International Artist of theYear. This is his second time to win International Artist of the Year since his debut in 1979 and marks his 21stprint to be featured in the DU National Art package. Over the last 27 years his prints have generated over 20 million dollars toward wetland conservation.

“Got’em Dad” is the 14th print in the Greenwing series. Over the years, these prints have helped inspire our youth inDucks Unlimited’s volunteer ranks, as well as, captured cherished memories of early childhood days in the blind.

“Gale Winds” Bronze Sculpture

One of North America’s top monumental bronzesculptors, Ronnie Wells, has created a replica of the 7-foot tall sculpture of “Gale Winds” as featured outsideof the Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters inMemphis, Tennessee.

Underwriting reduces expenses of your event. Use cash gifts to offset the cost ofvarious components of the event, i.e., Art Package or other Event Merchandise, Hats,Guns, Printing, Facility, Food.

Select a Chairperson for Underwriting. This is a major assignment for one who hascontacts with potential major donors in the community.

Use this Underwriting Solicitation Package Workbook provided by Ducks Unlimited.The cash underwriting target should be 3 times the committee cost (see catalog orderform). Copy or detach the pages to allow several committee members to canvass thecommunity. Assign each solicitor a group of businesses in order to reduce overlappingcontacts.

Show the Auction Items to the Public, (e.g., place several framed prints in a banklobby, especially if the bank has underwritten them.)

Recognize the Underwriters:

• Display banners provided by the underwriter during the event• Put up signs bearing the underwriter’s name on or near the underwritten items• Give the underwriter a certificate and a donor decal• Put the underwriter’s name in the banquet program• Send the underwriter a “thank you” note

Report the Underwriting Contribution in the appropriate space on the financial reportform because it will impact your overhead by lowering costs (line #10 on the FinancialReport). Treat it as “negative expense,” not income!
