Ideas- The heart of the message

Organization- The internal structure of a piece of writing, the pattern of ideas

Word Choice- The use of rich, colorful, precise language

Sentence Fluency- Focuses on the rhythm and flow of the language, the sound of word patterns, and the way in which the writing plays to the ear

Voice- The heart and soul of the message, the writers personality coming out in the words

Conventions- Mechanical correctness of a piece

Presentation- Focuses on the form and layout of the text and its readability (including MLA format)
