biographyI am native-born Floridian who has been raised primarily in upstate South Carolina. Growing up, I was always creative and artistic, but I also excelled in mathematics in school, which is why Interior Design has turned out to be the perfect major for me.

I am currently a Senior graduating in May of 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts in Interior Design from Anderson University, and am working at McWaters - a commercial furniture dealership located in Columbia, SC. My strengths include: time management, teamwork, digital skills, and attention to detail.

After graduation, I hope to pursue NCIDQ and LEED certifications, as well as become more active in my local IIDA and community service opportunities. In my free time I like to knit, dance, and photograph my adorable niece and nephew.

collaboration between people in different worlds, coming together for a single goal. Interior Design acknowledges so many different aspects of human life: psychology, physiology, productivity, mental health, and effective use of space and time, among others. Design is a form of service to the living and working world - whether the people that utilize that space realize it or not.

It is my job as an interior designer to create spaces that are well designed in such a way that accentuates the effective functionality of the space rather than focusing on just the aesthetics.

"What is design? It's where you stand with a foot in two worlds - the world of technology and the world of people and human purposes - and you try to bring the two together." -Mitchell Kapor

As mentioned in the quote above, design is such a culmination of different worlds in a way that is cohesive and pleasing. Design is a way to express my creative mind while still maintaining the comfortable restrictions of the technical requirements. Interior Design is a form of communication that affects multiple senses: touch, seeing, sometimes even smelling and hearing. It is a method of

philosophy

PROJECT GOALS+ Redesign the top level of a skyscraper in a metropolitan city.+ Focus on designing with sustainability in a high-end environment.

REQUIREMENTS+ Design of 4,800 SF+ Specification of FF&E+ Code adherence

SKILLS UTILIZED+ Revit Architecture + Adobe Photoshop

CONCEPTThe Classe et Aurum City Club is located in the penthouse suite of the Broadgate Tower in London. Classe et Aurum is a members only facility, and appeals to individuals who have relatively high personal incomes, are well-educated, travel internationally often, and are knowledgeable about art and design. The City Club includes two private apartments, for members who are in need of a place to stay while traveling in London, as well as a restaurant and kitchen, staff offices, private dining rooms, a bar and lounge, and a tea lounge. Arx Interiors is specifically designing and specifying the Member's Apartment and Suite, the Bar and Lounge, the Presidential Dining Room, and the Reception area.

The design of Classe et Aurum centers around the idea of integrating the long history of London architecture with the ever-changing modern design of a thriving cultural city. The color palette of gold, navy, violet, and indigo is highly associated with success, power, intelligence, wealth, luxury, and extravagance, which will attract high-profile members to the club. Warm neutrals, luxurious fabrics, metallic accents, and wood finishes are utilized to create this warm and lush environment.

Hotel Halifax is a specialized boutique hotel located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Halifax is a continuously growing business hub, and is considered a global city and a major economic center for Canada. Although the city is located directly on the water, the climate is considered

continental. This means that the land is not regulated by the nearby body of water, and is instead subject to very specific climate changes with each season. The winter temperatures may drop to barely above 0 degrees, while the summer may reach above 80 degrees. Because of this, Halifax is also a city that thrives on tourism. The coastline, culture, scenery, sports, and media are all enticing factors for visiting patrons. Hotel Halifax was designed in order to serve the needs of both business people and tourists in the city. The hotel was created to be a top choice among visitors for lodging, and is therefore intentionally located near the city center. The design of the hotel centers on the idea of luxury. The combination of sleek, modern design with comfortable furniture and selections makes the space ideal for all visitors of Halifax. The space is inviting from both the exterior and the interior, reflecting the atmosphere of the city itself, which was named first on a list of large cities of quality of life in Canada.

PROJECT GOALS+ Site plan & addition to Johnston Hall.+ Understanding how to effectively re-design the space with an addition in order to create an ideal workspace for students. + Consideration of site allowances and restrictions.

REQUIREMENTS+ Site plan & addition to Johnston Hall.+ Production of construction documents+ Code adherence

SKILLS UTILIZED+ Autodesk AutoCAD+ Sketchup Trimble

CONCEPTThis project consisted of a set of construction documents as well as schematic design boards for the purpose of providing an addition on the rear of Johnston Hall at Anderson University. This building currently serves both the Interior Design and Education students at Anderson University. The redesign should include additional space for the Interior Design students, without taking away significant space from the Education students.

The new addition includes flexible studio space, a new library for print and media resources, four faculty offices, a new computer lab, and a common work area with a sink and work surfaces. The design focused on keeping the original Greek Revival integrity of the structure and the surrounding buildings on the campus, while integrating modern spaces and the latest technology in the educational spaces. All of the construction documents were constructed in AutoCAD, and included a site plan, life safety plan, roof plan, finish schedules, door and window schedules, exterior elevations, interior elevations, and building sections. The schematic presentation boards were to consist of appropriate floor plans, exterior elevations, a wall section, a perspective of the addition, and interior elevations.

Interior Initiativesustainable design center located in Charlotte, NC

ENTRY PERSPECTIVE

CONCEPTInterior Initiative is a company based in New York that has decided to open a design center in the suburbs of Charlotte, NC. The intent of this design center is to act as a hub for sustainable design information in the Carolinas. The showroom will be host to six display areas - two upholstery manufacturers, three wallcovering manufacturers, and one tile company - which will provide interactive stations for designers and their clients to gain more knowledge about the products incorporated into the space. These products were picked specifically for their environmental and aesthetic qualities, as well as their accessibility to the average consumer. Arx Interiors will be designing this showroom in a two-story residential space. The new facility will incorporate both commercial and residential spaces, as the company's founder Elsie de Wolfe requires a living space on the second floor. Spaces designed on the first floor include: staff stations, six custom displays, an ideation center, and a

restroom. On the second floor, the design will provide for: a meeting room, design office, guest bedroom, guest bathroom, and a private master suite.

The concept behind this particular location of Interior Initiative is the idea that sustainable design doesn t have to look "green." Sustainable design is very trendy, but typically incorporates natural materials, textures, and colors. This space is designed to be the opposite - it will specifically cater to the client who desires a fresh, modern concept, but with the underlying sensibility of sustainable design. To achieve this aesthetic, the color palette is a sharp white and black, with occasional accents of yellow and fuscia. The textures will be smooth and finished, and the displays will be the primary focus within the space.

Shared Spacescommunity center fighting homelessness in Boston, MA

CONCEPTWentworth Institute of Technology's Interior Design program is currently in need of a separate location near main campus to act as a vertical learning studio for students, professionals, and members of the public. The first two floors of the Hirbour Tower have been obtained for the design of a studio, meeting and review area, learning hub, reception and welcome space, faculty offices, restrooms, and storage space. Situated in busy downtown Boston, the site is designed to be a community oasis for creativity and a welcoming environment for displaced individuals wishing to become more educated on how design affects their lives.

Arx Interiors has prepared this schematic design as a foundation for the school to utilize its resources and assist the public in the effort to solve the crisis of homelessness in the Boston area. The research based design combines the use of traditional Bostonian architecture with contemporary design features to create a space that feels well integrated with the surrounding neighborhoods and relevant with the current design trends and technology enhancements. Since Boston is one of the most "green" cities in the U.S., utilizing sustainable resources for the design was one of the major project goals. Materials with recycled content, multi-functional furniture pieces, and fixtures with low-energy use were used as often as possible. This facility was designed to transform so that it can be used for a variety of functions, which makes it a great asset to the greater Boson community.

PROJECT GOALS+ Design an innovative LDR room for expectant mothers+ Focus on providing efficient use of space for patients and staff

REQUIREMENTS+ Design of a research-based design patient care room+ Schematic design proposal

SKILLS UTILIZED+ Autodesk AutoCAD + Sketchup Trimble+ Adobe Photoshop

This team project consisted of the design of a patient care and family room with the intent of understanding and implementing design based on research related to the effects of interior design on physical and psychological experiences in healthcare spaces. The objectives of the project included: presenting unique and creative solutions that promote healing and family interaction with patients, demonstrating an awareness of critical issues in the design of family zones in health facilities, presenting innovative and effective solutions for a sustainable design that promotes both environmental and occupant health, and applying sustainable strategies in both the design features and the design solutions. The renderings provided were intended to show a schematic design concept of a labor / delivery / recovery room that was focused on personalization for the mother, efficiency for the staff, and integration of the family into the care of the patient.

Arx Interiorspersonal business branding

LEVEL+Junior

PROJECT GOALS+ Design a logo and supporting documents that express the culture of Arx Interiors.

REQUIREMENTS+ Create a branding scheme for a personal interior design firm.

SKILLS UTILIZED+ Adobe Illustrator + Adobe InDesign

CONCEPTThe branding for Arx Interiors consisted of a logo, business card, two page letterhead, envelope, and postcard mailer. The items should be indicative of the company culture, appropriate for the design typology typical of the firm, and designed to last years while remaining current.

The name - "arx" is a Latin term meaning "stronghold" or "fortress", to allude that the design firm is dependable and consistent. The one red dot in the logo brings in color without being overly indicative of the firm's design style, and the color itself refers to power and strength. The supporting documents in the branding package maintain the same sense of simplicity and consistency throughout. The use of a sans-serif and serif fonts adjacently helps to appeal to clients with both traditional or more modern design aesthetics.

The logo is utilizes the following typefaces: Infinita for "arx" and Didot for "interiors". In the branding package, Didot is used as the typical copy text typeface, and Infinita is used as an accent, such on the front of the postcard mailer.
