Atkins’ interior design team specializes in space planning and design, programming, contract documentation, and contract administration. The group’s objective is to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing work environment for clients and their employees or users.

Interior design

Integrated approachAtkins’ interior designers have expertise in space needs analysis, space planning and design, interior finishes, and furnishings. These professionals work closely with our architects and engineers from conceptual design through final construction documents, providing valuable guidance to develop efficient space plans and an aesthetic interior environment. All building systems—including structural, mechanical, and electrical systems—contribute to create a pleasing and a healthy workspace.

Sustainable designOur interior design team provides design solutions that are functional and aesthetically pleasing, as well as environmentally responsible. We maximize the use of salvaged and refurbished materials and furnishings, materials with high-recycled content, and volatile organic compound free materials. In addition, our designers are fluent in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credit requirements, the certification process, and basic principles of sustainability for interiors.

Federal designAtkins’ designers have extensive experience with federal projects, supplying comprehensive interior design services including preparation of structural interior design and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) submittal packages. We are also familiar with developing detailed procurement specifications through mandatory sources such as GSA Schedules and state use industries, among others.
