Development:Activity N° 1: Reading comprehension.The students will be asked to work in pairs so as to laterread a text that the teachers will give them with information about a specific touristic place in La Pampa (ParqueLuro, LiguelCalel, Laguna Don Tomás, Turismo de Estancia, Villa Turística Casa de Piedra or Colonia Menonita). Students will have to identify: location, activities people can do there and main characteristics of the place.Activity N° 2: Location of the touristic places on a big map on the board.
Some students will have to come to the front and locate the place they read about onthe map. The teacher will give them a picture of the place and they will have to stick it on the map.Activity N° 3: Game.The students will work in pairs. The teacher will give them a sentence and they will have to guess the touristic place to which the sentence read aloud belongs. After that, they will come to the front in order to read the sentence aloud themselves. Finally, they will stick the sentence on a big poster with the correct picture of the place.Activity N°4: Written and oral production.The students will work in groups of five members each and they will have to produce a poster of a specific touristic place in La Pampa that the teacher will assign. Then, they will present it to the rest of the class. Rural Tourism - La Pampa
Rural tourism in La Pampa
offers a wide range of cozy
places to visit (A Puro
Campo- Gral. Acha, La
Holanda- Carro Quemado,
La Pampeana- Sarah, Villaverde- Santa Rosa, La Julia- Guatrachè among
others) where tourists can spend one day or more in close contact with
nature. In general, the landscapes are eye-catching, especially, looking at the
sky printed in different colors, or the shining stars in complete silence during
the imposing night. The houses are so well-equipped that visitors can easily
forget their routine and take an unforgettable experience. Among the leisure
activities, tourists can practise sport hunting, it either guided or for free.
Other activities available are horse-back riding tours, trekking and relaxing
hikings. Moreover, some places have carriages and 4x4 excursions not only to
observe, but also to learn about the exotic flora and fauna of this rich region.
In addition, sightseers can participate in typical rural practices such as the
cattle’s roundup, the cow’s milk, shear, sowing. Furthermore, being part of a
“doma” or “jineteada”, or taking advantage of a polo game or folkloric
dances are other alluring opportunities to make the most out of it. Rural
museums constitute an interesting option to get historical information of the
place and local production. As regards food, vacationists can taste home-
made and regional food, including steak burgers, suckling pig, lambs or
“empanadas”. To conclude, it can be said that rural tourism in La Pampa is
undoubtedly an ideal option to choose for those who rejoice at the idea of
visiting tranquil, welcoming and virgin places.
Parque Luro-
Natural reserve
Parque Luro Natural Reserve is a protected area of 7607 hectares where its calden forest occupies the biggest extension. Situated only 35 km away from Santa Rosa capital city, this fabulous natural reserve is an overwhelming combination of indigenous and European origins, where caldén forests stand impressive, and red deers show off their majesty along its imponderable paths. The name of this protected area resembles the name of its owner: Pedro Olegario Luro who, in 1907, introduced a specimen of red deer (“Cervus Elaphus”) and wild boar (“Sus Scrofa”) which extended all around the province. Described as an oasis of peace, mystery, plenitude and magnificence, Parque Luro Natural Reserve offers multiple activities to experience a delightful moment. For example, the surpassing red deer bellow show represents one of the main attractions of the place. During heat time, which lasts 45 days between March and April, hinds move in seek of harems guarantee the perpetuation of their species. Another must-visit is a tour to “The Castle”. Declared National Historical Monument allows new comers to take guided visits and learn some anecdotes and historical, cultural and social references about it. Moreover, there is a “Tambo Model” installed in 1920 by Pedro Luro himself. It was mechanized dairy considered extremely advanced for the time. In addition, “San Huberto” museum is one of the most recommended places to explore. Integrated by the Carriages’ room, the equestrian, and the trophies’ room, the stable, and an agrarian area, it fulfils the expectations of every sightseer. The mennonite community
The Mennonite community, the oldest religious collective of the Evangelical
church that came from remote areas of the world such as Russia, Prussia,
Germany and the Netherlands, is established 35km away from Guatraché
through
provincial route
number 3.

peculiar lifestyle
and working life,
the Mennonites retain their Dutch and German customs characterized not
only by simplicity, but also by a strong sense of communal bonds. Provided
that you desire to visit this out-of-the-ordinary place, the public in general is
more than welcomed to visit this wonderful community. You can go there in
order to see the activities the Mennonites do every day and buy their
products. Their main activities involve not only the production of items such
as cheese, clothing, wood products and horse-drawn ridings, but also animal
husbandry and homestead cultivation. Their social life is quite absorbing as
well. The Mennonites’ gathering place is their local church were they profess
their religion. Sundays; however, are exclusively intended for both resting
and organizing communal visits to neighbours where their mother-tongue,
German, allows them to enjoy a wonderful time. This is undoubtedly an
unforgettable experience that will provide you with the possibility of getting
familiarized with a completely different culture.
Lihué - Calel
Lihué Calel National Park is situated in the Southern area of La Pampa, 120
kilometers away from General Acha. This wonderful local landmark offers a
combination of hills lcated in the middle of semi-arid lands. The antique hills
are known as “the hills of life” because of their capacity to retain rain water
and contribute to the attractive diversity of flora and fauna found there.
Since the humidity within these hills is higher than in the rest of the park, lots
of plants can be found there, and thus representing 40% of the province’s
flora. You can be able to see wild animals like guanacos, the hare mara,
armadillos, and wildcats among
others. Also, there are some
protected species such as the yellow
cardinal, the Patagonian turtle and
red deer.
Going around the park you will find
the visitors’ center Likan Mapu which
is the oldest building in the area considered a historical cultural site. You can
enjoy a peaceful view while walking along the paths in the park such us:
The path “El Huitru”, from which starts the path to climb up the “Hill of
Scientific Society”. From there you can appreciate the landscape, the
flora and fauna.
The path “Valley of paintings” is a 600-metre-path which shows how
natives used this area and their rupestrian paintings.
The path “Namuncurá Valley” leads to the “High Hill”.
Apart from these activities, Lihué Calel is an ideal destination for those who
enjoy going camping, trekking, doing mountain bike, going on photographic
safari and having a pleasurable time in a completely relaxed atmosphere.
The park offers an authentic environment for ecotourism too! A place for
recreation and enjoyment through the close contact with nature.
Don Tomas Lake
The Don Tomas Lagoon is situated at only 10 blocks from the Santa Rosa’s
central square. It is a green piece of land composed by more than 500
hectares, destined for recreation and the practice of sports, with close and
open areas for camping. This popular meeting place possesses a luxuriant
grove, barbecues, small markets, an immense swimming pool, children’s
playgrounds, a football pitch, a volleyball, tennis, and basketball court, a
softball field, an athletics and cycling track, a health circuit and an impressive
lake appropriate for fishing, canoeing, water skiing and motor boating.
Going around the pavement circuit, you can find a variety of recreational
sites. Crossing one the wooden bridges, it is situated the Island where a
wonderful viewpoint invites visitors to make use of, a playground for the
youngest and the Bird’s Island are found. Also, this picturesque place has an
artificial waterfall, a jetty and a panoramic tearoom which make of the place
an exuberant attraction. Coming around the site, you will see the Children’s
Island, a fascinating location with an outstanding castle. There is an
Interpretation Centre where videos about the city and chats about the lake’s
ecosystem are given. Other remarkable landmarks are the Lighthouse and
the Cross’ Viewpoint from which you can witness the captivating lake. The
cross belonged to the antique Santa Rosa Cathedral. For those who enjoy
doing aquatic sports, there is the Nautical Club. Finally you can finish the
circuit tour in the Malvinas Farm which once used to be the city founder’s
house, Tomás Mason; nowadays, his house is used as a museum regarded as
part of the local historical patrimony.
This is an ideal plan for those want to relax and have fun with friends or
family without unnecessarily spending much money.
Casa de Piedra
The new village “Casa de Piedra” is located 378 km south-east from the
capital of La Pampa. It is situated next to “Colorado” river, on the cost of an
artificial lake which covers an area of 36.000 hectares. The lake is 55 km long
and 11 km wide. In order to reach the place, you have to take 152 National
Road or 34 Provincial Road.
The village was created by Nº 2112 del. 08/07/2004 National Law and
represents the most important
challenge for the local government.
“Casa de Piedra” constitutes a
productive and touristic pole which
possesses all the necessary
infrastructure and facilities to be a
strategic place in the Argentinean
“Patagonia”.
The project is based on three stages and the first one is already done. This
first has to do with the construction of the urban area and all the facilities:
roads, energy, communication, streetlight, potable water, watering,
forestation, landscaping and down for boats.
During the second stage, and with the basic infrastructure already
established, the private sector started to invest as it was planned. They built
hotels, fields and sport areas, sailing clubs, crafts and food shops, gas station,
bus station, restaurants and camping.
The public investment also includes an artificial beach, viewpoints, a
hospital, a police station, a school and houses. Nowadays, the activities that
you can do in the village are: navigation and water sports, sport fishing of
silverside and trout, walks and visit the recreational area.
