WASTE TO ENERGY IN POMsINTERCONNECTION
• The mill has an installed capacity of 2 x 45 tons FFB/hour
• The mill processes FFB at an average of 1200 tons/day
• Operates for 300 days a year • The total annual FFB volume of about
360,000 tons • The POM generates EFB at an average of
22% FFB • incinerates about 70% of the EFB• The mill produces fibers of about 8% of FFB
from which 70% of it is sent into boiler • Shells of about 6.5% FFB are used as fuel
for the boiler • The POM uses about 20,000 liters of diesel
purchased at industrial rate • A 600 kVA generating set is supplemented
for electricity generation. • Total electricity required for mill operation
and domestic use is in the range 1300 to 1400 kWe.
TECHNICAL APPROPRIATENESS
• It is estimated that approximately 10-30% of electric energy generated from the POM can be exported to PLN
• The power generation unit is 1x1000 kWe and 1x 1850kWe
• The POM has a 1x20 tons/hr, 21 bar.g Vickers Hoskins boiler and a 1x45 tons/hr, 21 bar.g
• The total monthly diesel consumption of the POM is 20,000 liters and the power generated by its turbine is about 1850 kWe. The POM itself and the housing estate near the POM require average power of 1400 kWe.
BASIC DESIGN • An interconnection system
to PLN will include step up transformers 0.4/20kV
• The transformer would be sized to cater for the black start requirement of at least 650kVA
• All the interconnection equipment can be procured locally
• The interconnection capacity designed specifically to import power to displace the diesel black start is higher than the normal export potential from the POM to the PLN 20kV grid
• The basic design assumptions for the low voltage interconnection system
