Emergency response - IDA Foundation knows that immediate medical response in emergency situations can save lives. We have 40 years experience in delivering quality essential medicines and medical supplies to low- and middle income countries and over 20 years experience in supplying Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHK). Our extensive network of international freight forwarders enables us to ship pre-packed kits directly from stock to the required destination. Knowing a disaster can strike at any time, IDA Foundation has an emergency contact number available 24 hours a day. Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK), 2011 Edition - The concept of the emergency health kit has been adopted by many organisations and national authorities as a reliable, standardised, affordable, and quickly available source of essential medicines and medical devices urgently required in disaster situations. The kit content is based on epidemiological data, population profiles, disease patterns and certain assumptions based on experience gained in emergency situations. Each emergency health kit contains sufficient medical items to support at least 10,000 people for a period of 3 months. WHO updated the composition of the IEHK in 2011, taking into account mental health needs and the special needs of children in a disaster setting. In line with our not-for-profit mission, IDA Foundation supplies the IEHK 2011 at the lowest possible price and with a comprehensive QA/QC guarantee for all its pharmaceutical contents, always according to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. Meeting essential health needs - Every emergency will be different and response needs may vary depending on the type of disaster, its location and prevalence of diseases. For example, in some situations antimalarial medicines or post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) modules are not required; therefore these can be left out of the IEHK upon request. Your experienced partner - IDA took immediate action following the tsunami in Asia (2004), the earthquake in Pakistan (2005), an armed conflict in Lebanon (2006), the earthquakes in Indonesia (2009) and Haiti (2010) and an armed conflict in Syria (2014). Hundreds of emergency health kits and other supplies were flown into the affected areas by order of the International Red Cross (IFRC), the World Health Organization (WHO), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and other relief organisations.
