Get it together with your
What is an Interactive Notebook?
• A personalized textbook• A working portfolio – all of your
notes and a lot of your class work – in one convenient spot.
Personalized Textbook• Only 25% of what you need to know
this year is in the textbook.• That means 75% of what you need to
learn this year will come from other sources, like notes, worksheets, PowerPoints, etc.
• Your notebook will be like your text for this class.
• You will use it as the primary resource to study for tests.
Student Materials• Spiral composition (I like one with
a harder cover).• Glue sticks or bottled school glue• Scissors – to trim pages if
necessary.• Colored pencils • Highlighters to emphasize certain
information.
Table of Contents
• You must have a Table of Contents in the front of your notebook.
• We will be updating this regularly as we use the notebook on a daily basis.
• There will be a Table of Contents posted in the room so that you can keep up with it and check it in the event you are absent one day.
Maintaining the Interactive Notebook
• No ripped out pages or torn corners• No doodling that doesn’t relate to
notes• Notebook should only be used in Social
Studies. (No other classes!)• Date and number each page• Keep up with the Table of Contents
Be Bright
• Make sure your name is in it. • Bring your notebook to class
EVERY DAY.• Keep the Table of Contents up to
date.• Never loan out your notebook.
DEADLINE
• You must have your Mead Five Star notebook by Wednesday, August 11.
• If there is a reason why your parents cannot get you one, please see me privately.
