The Easy Interactive Tools panel will appear on the right side of the computer monitor and the projector screen (see over-page for diagram and functions). You can now use the features and the Easy Interactive Pen (shown below).

Easy Interactive Pen

Pens can be found in a case magnetically anchored to the whiteboard. To turn on the pen, use the switch on the top end of the pen.

The battery indicator on the Easy Interactive Pen lights or flashes when the power is turned on. When the indicator no longer lights or flashes, the battery requires replacement. Spare batteries can be found in the microphone cabinet.

NOTE:

The pen is able to operate as a mouse. Using the pen tip, touch the screen to select an item such as an icon in the toolbar.

AV Touch Panel

Select Computer as the source for the projector labelled “Main (iLecture)”.

The Interactive Whiteboard is the white projection surface under the projector labelled “Main (iLecture)”. On this surface you will be able to write over a projected image (Annotation Mode) or on a completely white page (Whiteboard Mode) using the special pens provided.

SMART Board (Basic Functions) The SMART Board is the white projection surface under the projector labelled “Primary (iLecture)”. On this sur-

face you will be able to write over or highlight your presentation using your finger or the special pens provided.

Note: This surface is not a whiteboard. Please do not write on the surface with markers.

Preparation

Ensure the computer and projector are turned on (refer to

the Audio Visual Panel guide in the venue).

Check that the lectern PC is displayed on the main projector

screen, and the SMART Board is turned on.

Calibration

If the screen pen appears to be out of sync with

your finger, press the button to re-calibrate the

board. Touch the centre of the targets using your

finger or a SMART pen to correct the alignment. Need Help?

Click on the help button on the SMART Board

tray to browse through additional topics on the

use of the interactive functions.

Keyboard:

Displays a virtual

keyboard on the

screen.

Mouse: By pressing

this button and then

tapping the screen

you can right-click.

By selecting one of these buttons you can change the colour of the pen on the screen.

Note: This function only changes the colour when using the SMART pens. To change the col-

our of the pen when writing with your finger, use the functions in the SMART Ink toolbar.

SMART Notebook

The main program for the SMART Board is called

SMART Notebook 11, and can be found through the

Start Menu. Here you can access a range of functions

such as drawing shapes or lines, and measuring angles

with a virtual protractor.

Wacom Interactive Tablet (Basic functions)

A Wacom tablet can act as both a PC screen

and an interactive tablet

They can be found on the lectern in lecture thea-

tres and some collaborative classroom spaces.

On this surface you can draw, write and or anno-

tate in programs including Paint and Microsoft

Word and PowerPoint.

Interactive pen

Each Wacom tablet will have an interactive stylus attached to the right

hand side of the Wacom screen. This stylus allows you to draw, write

and annotate on the interactive screen throughout your presentations.

When touching the screen

with the stylus, a small grey

box will appear on the edge of

the PC. Select this box and a

window will open.

Here you can write with your

stylus and the words are con-

verted into text.

Alternative annotation software includes the Epson Interactive Toolbar.

For further information on how to use this software, please refer to Page 2 .

Using Microsoft Office PowerPoint, you can annotate on presentation slides.

When presenting your PowerPoint in presentation mode, hover your stylus or

mouse over the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Six options will appear at

the bottom or the screen, select the paint brush.

Once you have selected the paint

brush a pop up menu will appear.

Here you can select different op-

tions including highlighter, pen and

a variety of colours.

When you have finished annotating

on the presentation slides, press

escape to exit presentation mode.

A window will appear asking you

whether you “want to keep your

ink annotations?” Select Yes or No.

Other programs with annotation capability include Microsoft Word and Paint.
