INTER DPS NATIONAL ATHLETIC MEET BOYS (OPEN)
-2016 HOSTED BY DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT
SPORTS COMMUNIQUE- DAY-1
GRAND OPENING
The opening ceremony of Inter DPS National Athletic Meet Boys (Open) -2016 which was
held at Delhi Public School, Meerut on 18th November 2016, showed a perfect
combination of sports tradition with latest innovations. The Mega Event exhibited the
pinnacle of national athletics in which 493 participants from 56 schools including DPS
Dubai and DPS Sharjah participated.
To grace the National Event, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, ADM Meerut was the Chief Guest of
the ceremony. Dr. D. R. Saini, Director DPS Society New Delhi and Mr. Karmender
Singh, Principal Kalka Public School, Meerut were the Special Guests for the ceremony.
Ms. Shashi Singh, the Pro-vice Chairperson Delhi Public School Meerut, Mr. Atul Kumar
Singh, Manager Delhi Public School Meerut and Ms. Anumeha Singh also graced the
occasion. Mr. Atul welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting him a shawl and a bouquet.
Ms. Savita Chadha, Principal Delhi Public School extended a floral welcome to all the
Distinguished Guests.
During his address Mr. Mukesh Singh motivated and inspire the students that how
sports influence all spheres of their lives. Dr. Saini during his address broke a wonderful
news to all the DPS sports fraternity that DPS Society has decided to organise DPS
Olympics under the aegis of DPS Society from the next year at some nationally
recognized venue in the capital. DPS Society has released Rs. Two Crores to better the
sports fraternity of Delhi Public Schools with regard to training and equipments. He also
advised all the coaches, officials and the participants to play with truthfulness in which
actually, lies the beauty of the sports. Dr. Saini also extended a heart-felt and poignant
tribute to our beloved founder Late Shri M.P Singh by pronouncing his (Mr. M.P Singh’s)
mission and vision.
Ms. Shashi Singh, Pro-Vice Chairperson during her address announced that in the
memory of the Founder Chairman, Late Shri M.P. Singh, the winner of the Rolling
Trophy of this National Meet will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,21,000/- by M.P.
Singh foundation and there after she wished all of the teams best of luck.
The Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha during her address proudly reiterated the names of
the iconic sports personalities like Deepa Malik and the flying Sikh Milka Singh. She
further said “This life is an arena and each of us has to touch the finishing line and then
proudly rejoice our footprints on the ground.”
The ceremony kicked off with the splendid march past by the students representing their
schools followed by the release of pigeons and colorful balloons by Mr Atul Singh. This
tradition symbolizes freedom and height of efforts. After that Mr. Mukesh Kumar and the
other dignitaries present hoisted the sports flag and Mr. Atul Kumar announced the
official start of the game. The March Past was loudly cheered by those who attended the
ceremony. The performance by the Military Band and the mellow choir by the school
band was terrific feast to the eyes. The attires of the dances looked as if the blue horizon
was dancing with the snow covered beautiful earth amidst the stars of melody .The
Tribal dance with the theme of equality and empowerment of women was really heart
moving and therefore earned thunderous of cheers and claps from everyone. Effervescent
performances given by the vivacious sportsmen throbbed the grounds receiving lot of
appreciation for their superbly breathtaking performances. The sweet sweat shed by the
players enthralled everyone.
In the evening, a cultural programme was presented by the students and the teachers of
the host school for all the valued guests from 56 schools. The programme not only
entertained the players but also helped them revive their energies for the performances
on the next day.
SPORTS COMMUNIQUE- DAY-2
MEDAL CEREMONY Date : 19th Nov. 2016
On the second day of the event, Delhi Public School set out well to deliver an
outstanding athlete centered and Sport focused games. The bright shiny morning
boosted the players to go the whole hog to deliver their best.
Major Rakesh Sharma (Shaurya Chakra Awardee) was the Chief Guest for the Medal
Ceremony. Ms. Shashi Singh (Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Meerut), Mr.
Atul Kumar Singh (Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut) and Ms. Anumeha Singh also
graced the occasion.
The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha extended a heartfelt floral welcome to the
distinguished Chief Guest and Mr. Atul Kumar Singh presented a shawl to him. There
after the Principal extended an equally warm floral welcome to Ms. Shashi Singh, Mr.
Atul Kumar Singh and Ms. Anumeha Singh.
Major Rakesh Sharma during his address urged all the participants to have full
conviction in themselves as nothing can beat one except one’s own self. The Principal
during her address advised all the participants to raise the bar of excellence constantly
and throw their influences far and wide so that they emerge as effective leaders.
The school coir serenaded a melodious and motivational song in the welcome of the
esteemed guests. Beautiful semi classical dance enthralled everyone. The contemporary
dance was hugely appreciated by the audience.
The Military Band with the melodious bagpipers added a melodious grandeur to the
whole sports environment.
The second day game produced memorable performances in the exhilarating sports.
There were sporting triumphs that thrilled spectators watching the exhilarating action.

and the Principal Ms. Savita Chadha felicitated the winners of the events by giving away
medals and certificates to them.
SPORTS COMMUNIQUE- DAY-3
CLOSING CEREMONY Date : 20th Nov. 2016
Inter–DPS National Athletic Meet Boys (Open)-2016 finally closed out, on 20th November
2016 after three days of amazing sporting actions. The final action in the grand Closing
Ceremony included some amazing performers participants, singers and dancers.
Mr. Ranber Singh (Regional Officer, CBSE Dehradun) was the Chief Guest for the
ceremony. Dr. D.R. Saini (Director, DPS Society, New Delhi) was the distinguished
Guest. Ms. Shashi Singh (Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Meerut), Mr. Atul
Kumar Singh (Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut) and Ms. Anumeha Singh also
graced the occasion.
The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha extended a cordial floral welcome to the Chief Guest
and presented a souvenir to him. Mr. Atul Kumar Singh presented a shawl to him. There
after the Principal extended an equally warm floral welcome to Ms. Shashi Singh, Mr.
Atul Kumar Singh and Ms. Anumeha Singh. Mr. Ranber Singh during his formal address
urged everybody to lay a special emphasis on learning Indian culture along with
international language and trends. He also thanked all the parents to repose their
utmost sincere trust in CBSE.
The School Coir presented a melodious song in the welcome of distinguished guests. The
Punjabi Bhangra Dance performance was really spell-binding.
Dr. D.R. Saini during his address educated everyone on values, hard work and the
biggest bond that CBSE shares through National Meets and Sports Clusters. The
Principal during her address thanked all the principals, coaches, participants and her
team for making the event happen. She also expressed her gratitude to DPS Society.
A two minutes silence was observed in the memory of our beloved Founder Chairman
Late. Shri M.P. Singh. All the distinguished guests paid their heartfelt tribute to Late.

The Silver Shiny Rolling Trophy was given to both DPS, Bokaro Steel City and DPS,
Faridabad, Sector-19. Ms. Shashi Singh and Mr. Atul Kumar Singh gave cheque of Rs. 1,
21,000/- (One Lac Twenty One Thousand) cash to each team respectively. The Prize
money has been given by Chairperson Ms. Shashi Singh, Managing Trustee Mr. Atul
Kumar Singh and Ms. Anemeha Singh (M.P. Singh Foundation). The Runners up Trophy
was awarded to DPS Dubai and DPS Durg and the Trophy for second runners up was
given to DPS Aligarh, DPS Bhilai and DPS Greater Noida. The Trophy for best athlete
was given to Ch. Palendra Kumar (DPS, Aligarh) who made a new record and emerged as
the fastest runner of the meet.
The third day game produced memorable performances in the exhilarating sports. There
were sporting triumphs that thrilled spectators watching the action of different matches
on the grounds.
Ms. Shashi Singh, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Ms. Anumeha Singh and the principal Ms.
Savita Chadha with all distinguished guests felicitated the winners of the events by
giving away medals and certificates to them. Mr. Ranber Singh lowered the sports flag
and announced the meet close. Nipun Bhatia (Sports Secretary, DPS Meerut) proposed
the vote of thanks.
Delhi Public School lived up to its friendly reputation and proved to be a warm, generous
and enthusiastic host.
