Intensive Co-OccurringTreatment Program

ADULT SERVICES

Rosecrance has created a 14-bed inpatient unit

at the Adult Treatment Center to serve individuals

with co-occurring substance use and mental

health disorders.

This inpatient unit offers priority access to

veterans of the U.S. armed forces and a program

track designed for individuals suffering from

post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) combined

with substance abuse issues.

The Harrison campus is a modern 97-bed facilityoffering a full continuum of inpatient and outpatientcare serving approximately 5,000 families each year.The campus offers a health center with beds fordetoxification, a fitness center, newly renovated residential spaces and 15 acres of parklike grounds.

Harrison Adult Campus

Clients on this unit will receive treatment tailored to individuals with higher acuity co-occurring disorders. The unit will assist male patients, 18 and over, specifically veterans, suffering from co-occurring disorders. Female veterans will receiveservices to meet their gender-specific needs in thewomen’s program.

Clinical staff, which includes veterans, have had training in co-occurring disorders and veterans’ issues.

Curriculum

Rosecrance will use the evidence-based Co-OccurringDisorders Program (CDP, 2008), which is designedfrom the Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment(IDDT) model.

Seeking SafetySAMHSA recognizes Seeking Safety (Najavits,2002) as evidence-based. Seeking Safety has beenwidely used to treat both PTSD and substanceabuse. Additionally, Multiple Channel ExposureTherapy (Falsetti, et al., 1995) is used to treatPTSD/Panic symptoms.

Screening and Assessment Toolsl Biopsychosocial assessments to identify co-occurring disorders

l Evaluation to identify and clarify other medical concerns, including traumatic brain injury

l Modified PTSD Symptom Scale (MPSS) screening tool

l Columbia Severity Suicide Rating Scale

Integrated Combined Therapiesl Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)l Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) l Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) l Medication Managementl Motivational Interviewingl Family Program

Additional Servicesl Physician services are available to all clients. l Enhanced psychiatric servicesl Group and individual counseling l Case management services for veteransl Experiential therapies, including art, recreation, yoga and meditation

Co-occurring disorder clients on this unit will be able to participate in group sessions and relax in the dayroom.
