DESCRIPTION

Since its foundation in June 2007 Integration 21th Century Summer School attracts students from the widest possible mix of cultures and backgrounds who wanted to join together in pursuit of learning and adventure. In this brochure we are delighted to present to you the programme of Integration21 Summer School 2014. This year, once again, we will be offering students from all over the world a variety of academic summer courses in combination with a wide range of dynamic recreational opportunities.

“21st Century Integration” International School is pleased to open its doors to international students aged 10-18 in a unique summer programme: a chance to combine learning, creative expression and action-packed adventure in the ancient Croatian town of Karlobag on the picturesque Adriatic coast. INTRODUCTION

The Summer School is located in a safe, tourist-friendly environment in a pine forest, which embraces a peninsula on the Dalmatian coast near the pretty village of Primosten, washed by the warm, transparent aquamarine waters of the Ardiatic sea. The hotel complex has its own beaches, swimming pool, tennis courts, internet room, laundry facilities, health boutique, souvenir shop, piano laundry facilities, health boutique, souvenir shop, piano ballroom, restaurant and terraces overlooking the sea.

Students live in twin rooms. All rooms have balconies with spectacular sea views and excellent facilities, including the telephone, satellite TV, air conditioning, hairdryer and fridge.

Family suites (double bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchenette and sea-facing balcony) are available at an kitchenette and sea-facing balcony) are available at an additional cost (please refer to our website for full details).

Accommo-dation also includes full board at the hotel’s restau-hotel’s restau-rant with a four-course buffet range of plentiful, healthy, locally sourced sourced and home-cooked meals.

SPECIAL IB SEMINARS FOR TEACHERS

We very much welcome parents to come to our school withtheir children and enjoy special programmes tailored for them.

In the morning you can book English as a SSecond Language which runs 3 times a week and work towards improving your communication and writing skills. AAgrotourism, Winetasting and Yachting courses are also availeble.

You can also choose from different sports activities such as wakeboarding, water skiing, jetskiing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving and rafting. Bungee jumping, karting,paintball and dancing together with other entertaining and inand informative trips out.

Our School offers unique summer programmes for teachers. You will get an opportunity to combine an insight into the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) with English language enrichment and dynamic recreation in one of the most picturesque corners of Europe on the sea coast of CCroatia.

There are several special IB seminars for teachers organised each year where you will have a chance to improve your professional qualifications and enjoy a fantastic holiday on the coast of Adriatic. Please refer to our separate professional development booklet or our website for more information.

Croatia is a land of extraordinary natural beauty and students will have the opportunity to visit its remarkable natural sites such as the Plitvice Lakes and the nearby ancient caves, and go on our traditional welcome sailing trip to the surrounding islands.

Students will be able to appreciate Students will be able to appreciate the mysteries and rich ecological heritage of some of the most beautiful natural landmarks in Europe – Croatia’s National Parks, most of which are protected by UNESCO.

In addition to historic excursions we offer a wide range of activity trips including beautiful Zrmanja and Omis river canoe safari for parents and children to enjoy.

WEEKEND EXCURSIONSWe recognise that the IB Programme is one of the most challenging available to young people today. Among its basic tenets is the development of sound communication skills and self-awareness within an international cultural environment. Our summer school serves these principles well by creating just such an environment where people from different cultures meet, socialize and where people from different cultures meet, socialize and build lasting friendships. Our summer programmes are designed to prepare students for the rigorous demands of their final school years. We offer IB courses at a range of levels, Pre-IB, Mid-IB and IB DP, according to each student’s level of preparation and familiarity with IB familiarity with IB methodology. Students can choose 1 subject per week which take place in the afternoon for 2 academic hours.

Focusing on academic academic performance, students work on a range of skills such as critical thinking, writing, and internet research, all of research, all of which are indispensable for IB success. IB courses we offer include Theory of Knowledge, Academic English, Creative and Academic Writing, Study, Research and Presentation Skills, Maths, Business Studies, Ecology and History.

Students receive 15 academic hours per week of English tuition with a further 10 hours per week of afternoon workshops chosen from the list of subjects such as Enterprise, Film Academy, Academic English, Art and Drama. A wide range of innovative teaching techniques and supplementary materials, including high end computer and video equipment, music, literature, diaries and magazine articles as well as out-of-classroom projects keep classes fun and well as out-of-classroom projects keep classes fun and ensure that students stay motivated.

At the end of each session students will receive an individual report for every course they complete (English and workshops). This will summarise the topics covered in class, and offer positive and constructive feedback constructive feedback to help them build on their successes.

AFTERNOON WORKSHOPSEVENING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

After dinner we offer all participants a varied social and entertainment programme. This includes theme nights, cinema evenings, guided walks, musical performances and trips out such as karting, bowling, paintball, etc. There are also debating and theatre evenings with the students' participation. The evening pprogramme is designed to entertain and strengthen the bond between the participants and is often the most enjoyable element of the day.
