Integration of Evolving Technology In The Curriculum The District’s portable interactive conferencing equipment increases the availability of distance-learning through virtual field trips and ITV classes. The public library implements subscriptions to electronic services such as free practice and prep for standardized tests. Teachers regularly use educational videos from building media support centers. They also have access to thousands of educational videos through REMC’s Webmax system, which includes weekly drop offs and pickups. United Streaming Video provides yet another media to reach the students who are visual learners Students and teachers alike access useful online teaching resources, technical “how to” documents, and contact information through building websites and networked files. They collaborate and share information, and ideas. Through the use of the web based My-Access Writing Assessment and Instruction Program students are able to compose documents and have them immediately assessed with the 6 point state rubric. Based on their results they are then placed in on-line instructional modules for immediate remediation. St. Helen Elementary school students benefit greatly from the programs compiled in Classworks. Math, Science, and Reading skills are covered thoroughly with both pre tests and post tests for measuring improvement. Students sometimes engage themselves in learning through game-like activities more actively than in traditional classroom settings. A Smartboard is used at SHES as a way to reduce paper and engage tactile learners in the classroom
