CentrifugalcompressorBoththemultistageandthesingle-stageICLcompressorcasingsaredirectlyflangedontothemotor,avoidinganyalignmentrequirements.Thesingle-stageICLcompressorrotorusesasingleimpeller,directlymountedonthemotorshaftthroughahirthcoupling.ThemultistageICLcompressorrotorfeaturesashaftonwhichuptonineimpellerscanbestacked.Therotorisconnectedtothemotorthroughaflexiblecoupling,eliminatingtheneedforcomplextuningofthebearingsystemandsimplifyingfuturerewheelingofthecompressor.TheICLdesignincorporatesBHGE’slatesttechnologicaladvances,includingourhigh-performanceimpellerdesigntodeliverthebestefficiency,flexibility,andoperatingrange.

TheIntegrated Compressor Line (ICL)fromBakerHughes,aGEcompany(BHGE),istheidealsolutionwhenhighefficiency,smallfootprint,andlownoiseareimportant.Thedesignsdrawonmorethan100yearsofexperienceandinnovationtodeliverprovencompressionperformanceinupstream,midstream,anddownstreamcleangasapplications.
Insteadofacombustionengine,ICLhasahigh-speedelectricmotorfullyintegratedwiththecompressorinasingle-sealedcasing.It’sahigh-efficiencyinductionmotor,provenbyfourmillionhoursofsuccessfuloperationover15years.Therotorislevitatedbyactivemagneticbearings(AMBs)andaprecisioncontrolsystem.Thiseliminatespartscontactandwear,lubeoilsystems,anddrygasseals—sotherearenofluidstoleakordisposeof,andnodepressurizationrequiredonshutdown.
Theseunitshaveamuchwideroperatingrangethanconventionalcompressors:35-105%ofnominalspeedversusthetypical70-105%—andtheICL’sefficiencyremainshighandstableovertheentirerange.With40%lowerrequestedmaintenancethanconventionalcompressors,ICLprovidesexceptionalreliabilityandavailability,nomatterwhereit’sinstalled.Anditdoesallthiswhileproducingzeroemissions.
