2. What is referencing and why do you need to do referencing for academic writing?
The referencing consists of authors’ names, publisher, publishing time, etc. and it’s a way to show your respect to the authority figures.

How To Skim?
• Read the title
• Read any headings and sub-headings.
• Read the introduction or the first paragraph.
• Read the summary or last paragraph
• Read the first sentence and last sentence of each paragraph
• Notice any pictures, charts, or graphs
• Notice any italicised or boldface words or phrases

2. Find the first given source on the student website.
3. Record the referencing information for source #1 of the provided source (slide 4)
4. Skim the given source as the steps practiced in class. Write down your findings in your notebook. You need to save the notes for next week’s tutorial class.
