UNDERSTANDING INTEGER
NUMBER LINE
• On a number line when we• add a positive integer, we move to the right.• E.g.: -4+2=-2
• add a negative integer, we move to left.• E.g.: 6+(-4)=2
Adding integer on number line
• On a number line when we • Subtract a positive integer, We move to the left• E.g.: (-4)-2=-6
• Subtract a negative integer, We move to the right• E.g.: 1-(-2)=3
Subtracting integer on number line
SIGN
E.g.: 6+3=9
E.g.: -9-2= -11 greater value E.g.: +2-4= -2 -2+4=+2
