International Application Requirements

Freshmen Applicants

Prospective freshman undergraduate international

students must submit an application via the common app

at (www.commonapp.org) AND submit a downloadable

international application packet via the school website at

(www.csu.edu). Applicants who are currently in high

school or have earned a high school diploma and never

attended college must submit the following requirements

to complete the admission application:

Official High School transcript – Foreign transcripts not written in English must be translated into English by a nationally known credential translator. Applicants must meet a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale

Foreign Credential Evaluation – Only accepted from Educational Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) or World Education Services (www.wes.org)

Official ACT or SAT scores – Must meet a minimum ACT composite of 18 or SAT composite of 870

Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (Not required if English is the applicant’s country first language)

Personal essay Letter of Recommendation Application fee - $100.00 (US dollar) Copy of Passport

Transfer Applicants

Prospective transfer undergraduate international

students must submit the online Transfer application

AND submit a downloadable international application

packet via the school website at (www.csu.edu). A

transfer applicant is an individual who has earned an

Associate degree or have more than 24 semester hours

or 36 quarter hours of earned college level coursework

from an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants

must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average

(GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and submit the following

requirements to complete the admission application:

Note: Transfer applicants that do not meet the minimum of 24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours of earned college level coursework from an accredited U.S. college or university will be processed as a Transfer Freshman and must also comply with Freshmen applicant requirements.

To demonstrate financial support for the duration of the time required to reach planned academic objectives, ALL

applicants must submit the following along with the admissions application. Applications will not be completed until all

forms are submitted:

1. Certification of Sponsorship – completed form signed by sponsor

2. Sponsorship Documentation – an official letter from the bank or a bank account statement confirming sufficient

funds

3. International Data Sheet – required for visa purposes along with a copy of a passport or current visa

4. Transfer-In Form – Only applicable if an applicant is on a current student visa with another U.S. institution

NOTE: Additional documents may be required to complete the admissions application or before an I-20 can be issued.

Application Policy

Applicants who submit an application for admission or readmission and withholds information such as, but not

limited to, prior academic experience or submit documents that are forged, fraudulent, altered, or deceptive may

be denied admission or have their admission rescinded.

For those already enrolled when a fraudulent document or falsified application is discovered, the misconduct is

adjudicated by an admissions committee and may result in rescission of admission; revocation of a financial aid

and scholarship award; and / or permanent expulsion from Chicago State University.

Students whose admission is rescinded remain responsible for fulfilling all financial obligations to Chicago State

University, federal, state and local governments; and private loan providers.

Freshmen Applicants

All freshmen applicants are required to submit a final official high school transcript along with an official English

translation, if transcripts are not in the English language, and an official Foreign Credential Evaluation. Below are

the two agencies accepted at Chicago State University.

Transfer Applicants

Applicants submitting college transcripts from an institution outside the United States are required to submit an official college or university transcript along with an official Foreign Credential Evaluation by one of the agencies noted above; World Education Services or Educational Credentials Evaluation. Transfer applicants from an accredited U.S. college or university that meet a minimum of 24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours must also complete the *Transfer Verification form. This form formalizes the student authorization to transfer the student visa to Chicago State University.

Crime Awareness and the Clery Act

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 U.S.C. 1092, the Annual Campus Security Report is available on the CSU Police Department website.

The Annual Security Report contains crime statistics for the three previous calendar years of reported crimes that occurred on campus or on public property within or immediately adjacent to campus. It also contains information on (1) the reporting of crimes or emergencies, (2) security of, and access to, campus facilities, (3) university police law enforcement authority, (4) security awareness programs and practices, (5) crime prevention programs, (6) drug and alcohol policy and programs, (7) crime statistics, (8) where to find information on Illinois registered sex offenders, and (9) policy and procedures regarding sexual assault.

Individuals can request a paper copy of the report by submitting a written request to the CSU Police Department, 9501 South King Drive O&M Building Room #210, Chicago, Illinois 60628-1598. If additional information is required regarding campus safety and security measures, please contact the CSU Police Department at 773-995-2113.

Additionally, in compliance with Illinois P.A. 95-764, and in an effort to educate the campus community about sexual assault (including prevention and awareness of sex offenses, procedures to follow if a sex offense occurs, procedures for on campus disciplinary action, possible sanctions, and distribution), online resources and campus-sponsored awareness programs are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Information about above policies, procedures, services, and programs can be obtained from the Department of Student Affairs, CSU Police Department and the Student Handbook.
