Principal’s Message
What a wonderful evening we had at the Year 12 Ball last Saturday. It was a
significant milestone marking 10 years since Strathalbyn Christian College moved
our Ball to its rightful place, which is at the end of the year following WACE exams
and the end of formal schooling. A true acknowledgement and celebration
happens when you complete something significant.
I had the privilege of sitting with the Head Boy and Girl from Nagle Catholic College
on the evening, who were invited guests. They made it very clear to me that what
we have in our College is truly something they appreciate and longingly miss within
their own community. It was a good opportunity for me to help them understand
why it’s so difficult for a big school to do things as well as we do, and conversely
why it’s difficult for us to do things that are easier for bigger schools. It was a rich,
engaging conversation and helped frame up the celebration they were welcomed
into.
We have such a special community and the Ball is yet another example of “In
Partnership with parents” playing out in its fullest expression. I want to
acknowledge the 9 months of work that the Year 12 Ball Committee (parents) put
into the planning and preparation for the “Peter Plan” theme, which included a
whole day of set up then packing down at the end. Your sacrifice of time and “acts
of service” to your children, now young adults, does not go unnoticed. The sacrifice
is without reward, yet we have the hope of a greater reward in Christ, knowing our
young people see our model of service learnt from knowing “Jesus as Lord”. The
outworking you demonstrated with “excellence” delivered the greatest Ball in
Geraldton!
Well done on fulfilling and embodying the College Mission Statement.

INVITATION
Christmas Worship
Parents/guardians and friends are invited to come and participate in our
Whole School Christmas Service on Friday 6 December from 2-3pm in the College
Hall. Year 7 students are working hard to pull the service together and will be
running things on the day. We will be singing some carols, hearing from Reverend
Brendan Hurley and handing over the Christmas Appeal donations to the
Salvation Army. It will be a wonderful time of celebration and Christmas joy
and we would love to see you there.

Write 4 Fun – Year 4 Student
Selected
Write4fun encourages young
student writers and artists with
fantastic competitions, by
publishing top quality books and
conducting interactive, fun
workshops across Australia.
Emmy Cowan (Yr 4) had her short
story titled “The Delivery Lama’
selected to be published in this
year’s edition. The book titled
Inspired will contain many poems,
short stories and artwork from
students all over Australia. The
book will be produced as a
beautifully presented limited-
edition hardbound volume.
Well done Emmy!
Act-Belong-Commit Young Artist
Academy Popular Choice Winner
Addison Phillips in Year 2 recently
participated in the Act-Belong-
Commit Young Artist Academy
at #Rockslaneway to get creative for
health + happiness!
Artwork from the Academy was
displayed on Facebook, with a “people’s
choice” vote from the public.
Once the votes were counted, Addison’s
hand-drawn artwork titled 'Chicken' was
the winner.
As part of the award this talented young
artist received a $200 voucher to spend
at Art & Soul By The Sea.
Congratulations Addison!
Salvo’s Christmas Appeal
This year we have the opportunity
to partner with the Geraldton
Salvation Army Corps to support
their ‘Christmas Appeal’. The Year 8
students are heading up the
campaign and have already visited
all the Year 1-10 classrooms to tell
them what the Appeal is about.
We are asking for donations of
long-life food such as canned food,
tea, coffee and cereal. This food
will be collected by the Geraldton
Corps and made up into hampers,
which will be given to families in
need in Geraldton.
Each classroom has a basket ready
for donations. If you are unsure of
what you can donate there will be
a flyer available in the front office
with some suggestions (also
emailed home). This is a wonderful
opportunity for us to serve the
Geraldton community and teach
our students the joy of giving.
Please give as you are able.
