What a  blessing and joy it is for your child to learn and develop these musical gifts! It is our prayer that this experience will be enriching for your child and your entire family . We are thankful that Mr. Chris Reed will be serving our students this y ear as the instrumental instructor . Julie Tjernagel will be servin g as facilitator of the program (scheduling, etc.). W e are happy to provide the space to the instructor , and we also happy to allow our students to take lessons during the week. This  program, as you might kn ow, is n’t an “Apostles pro gram.” It’s a program that our school facil itates. Our school sets the fees and creates the schedule, but the program itself is an arrangement between the instructor and the family. Following are statements and policies that we would like to present t o parents for their review and for their indication of agreement, before their children begin the instrumental program. We (I) agree with and support the following statements: We (parent and child) understand that the instrumental program is a commitment, and that we intend to commit to a full school year of instrumental instruction. If special circumstances arise that make it difficult or impo ssible to honor this commitment, we will discuss the situation with the instrumental instructor before removing him/her from the program. We understand that we will contact the instrumental instructor if we have any concerns or questions related to the  program. We understand that our child needs to be prepared for each lesson. We will do our best to insure that our child has his/her materials on lesson day and has had the necessary practice time before each lesson. We understand that we are to make our monthly payments in a timely fashion. We understand that payment is to be made to the instructor by the last lesson of each month or our child will be removed from the program until such a time as full payment has been made. We understand that a non-refundable instrumental registration fee of $20.00 per family is due at the time of registration. This fee will be paid to Apostl es School, not to the instructor . We understand that scheduling is a challenge due to the number of children in the instrumental program, and we therefore accept the lesson day and time as assigned. We understand that great effort is taken in order that students do not miss “meaty” classes, but that this is not always possib le. We will, therefore, address any scheduling concerns to Miss Tjernagel with the understanding that our requests may not be able to be accommodated. Further information about instrumental lessons: Group lessons are one-half hour each week at a rate of $10.00 per lesson. Individual trumpet lessons are available with Sandra Laverty at one-half hour each week at a rate of $20.00 per lesson. A band session is also available at one-half hour each week at a rate of $8.00 per session. Parents are billed on a monthly basis. Students who forget their lesson books or have not practiced will still be charged for their lesson. Instrumental students need to have an instrument at home for practice in between lessons.
