Carl Ford, Vietnam Veteran and retired agent of the Central Intelligence Agency, has had a distinguished career including Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research under the Bush II administration. He holds a BA in Asian Studies and a MA in East Asian Studies from Florida State University. Mr. Ford was an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and George Mason University and is currently an adjunct professor of Political Science at National Park College. His military and government service provides a unique and interesting perspective to American foreign relations which he enjoys sharing with students.

Carl Ford

As a full-time instructor for the National Park College Business Division, Janetta Ritter holds both a BA and a MBA in Business Administration from Henderson State University. She is also a trained facilitator for True Colors®, with additional training in Team Building and Conflict Resolution using the principles of True Colors. Ms. Ritter has provided professional development training for the NPC Community and Corporate Training Department for many years and is a favorite for many organizations seeking onsite training. She has a one-of-a-kind connection with students!

Janetta Ritter

William Polk is director of the Innovative Technologies Center at National Park College. Mr. Polk graduated from California Polytechnic University at Pomona with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued his education in electronics while working on the B-2 bomber program in various capacities. After moving to Arkansas in 2004 he taught math and science at both the secondary and post-secondary levels. He has a passion for all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and making STEM learning fun and accessible for everyone.

Come and explore the world of small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV) or "Drones", while learning to fly one at the same time! The individual, commercial, and military use of drones is exploding and the applications seem to be endless. In this class you will learn what a drone is, the different types of drones, basic drone technology, safety, social and legal issues, what to buy (or make), business and career opportunities, and of course, learn to fly! Arduino for the BeginnerRodney Ivers $89Do you like to tinker and make cool gadgets? Wouldn’t it be great if you could put a brain in your creation? Arduino controllers work with standard electronics, sensors, servos and motors to make your cool gadgets come alive! Arduino is an easy to learn, open-source prototyping platform that lets you explore the programming and control of electromechanical devices. This class is an introduction to the Arduino platform. Intro to 3D ModelingTBD $69In the future everything will be created in 3D models before production. Solar Power 101TBD $89Learn to harvest free, clean energy! This class will provide an understanding of the fundamental concepts necessary to design a stand-alone solar power system. We will start with a survey of solar power systems, photo-voltaic basics and system components such as controllers and inverters. Then we’ll dive into application-based load analysis, size a solar array and configure battery banks to meet your energy needs. Intro to 3D PrintingWilliam Polk $693D printing, or Additive Manufacturing, is reshaping the future of how things are made. Whether creating a custom cell phone case or a fuel nozzle for a jet engine, additive manufacturing is changing everything. This class will teach you how 3D printing works, how to prepare a print ready file from a 3D model, operate a printer and perform post processing. Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT)Bob Ballard This introductory 3-day course is designed for anyone interested in be-coming a Certified Fiber Optic Technician. This training combines theory and 85% hands-on activities to prepare students to take the CFOT exam that is sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA). This course introduces the student to industry standards governing FTTD (Fiber to the Desk), FTTH (Fiber to the Home), and Distribution Cabling. Students will learn how to identify fiber types, recognize various connectors used in fiber installation, and install, terminate, splice, and properly test installed fiber cable to existing standards. 3D Boot Camp $49June 19-22 10 a.m. – noon3D Boot Camp dives into a 3-Dimensional cyber world where the only limits are your imagination! Learn the basics of 3D design and modeling then print (and keep) your creation on a 3D printer. Create virtual solids from the practical (toothpaste squeezer) to the whimsical (flying pigs). Hidden behind the scenes are principles of math, engineering and technology. Ages 11-14.

Drone Camp $99July 10-13  10 a.m. – noonCatch the next wave of innovation with drone camp at the ITC! Come on an adventure in the world of small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV) or “drones”, while learning to fly one at the same time! We’ll practice basic flight skills and safety then move to drone racing and aerial photography. Fun flight activities will be blended with learning about drone technology, social and legal issues, plus business and career opportunities. Have fun and get in front of the next wave of technology!
