INSTRUCTIONS: Track Changes in Microsoft Word
Intended For: Researchers
Purpose: Tracking changes in Microsoft Word documents that have been previously submitted to HSD
WHEN UPDATING A PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED DOCUMENT: Microsoft Word Documents should be revised in tracked-changes format When the IRB approves the document, all tracked changes will be accepted and comments
removed in the final version
The version of the study document that is currently in Zipline should be used when making revisions.
To upload your edited document to Zipline, see INSTRUCTIONS: Edit Submission.
Edit Study Documents using Tracked Changes
1. Locate the document that needs to be edited in the Documents tab and click the link to open the draft
PRIOR TO STUDY APPROVAL: Use the draft copy in the Documents tab
AFTER STUDY APPROVAL:

INSTRUCTIONS: Track Changes in Microsoft Word
In the Documents tab, open the Final version of the document to be edited
FOR CONSENT FORMS: Because the final version is a PDF, select the draft version in Word instead of the final version. In some cases, this document may contain previously approved tracked changes and comments. Use the review features in Word to accept all the changes and remove any comments. Use this clean document as a starting point for your revisions.
3. Save the document to your computerA. Select the location on your computer that you want the file to saveB. Enter the new file name C. Click Save
