Instructions to connect to Virtual Machine for Solution Manager Installation

Click on Connect

Type “khoj2008” in the password field and click OK

You should now see the Virtual machine.

Ignoring any of these steps might create lot of issues for you during installation. Please follow them carefully.

Please follow the instructions carefully given in the custom guide. Misspelling a parameter or forgetting to follow a simple step could cause lot of different issues during the installation.

1. VERY IMPORTANT - Use the ROOT password given above in this guide for all newly created SAP accounts during installation. Use the password “khoj2008” for everything.

2. Logging off and on – Generally, you should not have any need to log off of the server. If you do, please call Neeta before you logoff and make sure that she can logon to the server for you. If you log off yourself, you will not be able to connect to the server using VNC again and will get connection error.

3. Hostname: The custom guide provides the example of KS4VMP5 or other screenshots. Please replace any instructions with your hostname. I.e. KS4VMP1 etc.

Error Resolution Protocol

The purpose of the following document is to explain the logistics of error resolution during installation.

The idea behind this practice installation is to provide you better understanding of installation as well as to enhance your troubleshooting skills. During installation, when you get an error, please follow the steps given below.

Note: If everything goes well, the installation takes around two days. Please ensure that you start the installation right away. If you procrastinate, you might not be able to finish the installation in the given time.

1. Try to figure out yourself why you got the error. Here are some tips.

a. Read the log file carefully for any indication of error message.

b. Search on Google and SDN for resolution.

2. If the error is resolved, please explain the error in detail, how you resolved it and post it on the yahoo group so everyone else can benefit from your experience.

3. If the error is not resolved, please post a message on yahoo groups. Please ensure that you have a very clear subject line in terms of what you want. Do not use the subject line in the last message.

4. Provide the error description, what you think the problem could be and if you have any possible solution. Provide some links that might possibly contain some type of solution. Send the

screenshots if possible. Also write the details in word format or simply use the email. Post all the material in detail on yahoo group. I will try my best to respond within 24 hours.

How to get a screenshot: Press PRINT SCREEN button. Open your email and right click > choose paste.

Example of error reporting:

Problem: After I configured the .bash_profile for JAVA_HOME, I typed the command below to check the JAVA_HOME and I get a blank line. I was expecting the JAVA version to show up as per the guide.

Root > Echo JAVA_HOME
