Fluid/aspirate can be submitted on a sterile swab but this is not ideal. Specimens from existing drain sites will not be accepted for culture. Specimens must be collected by direct aspiration or at the time of insertion of the drain. If cell count required please submit a purple-top tube with this requested (will be performed by Haematology).
