The KAV-300cd is equipped with two ana-log output configurations: Single-ended viaRCA connectors, and balanced via XLRconnectors. Krell recommends the use ofbalanced interconnects. Balanced intercon-nects not only have the ability to minimizesonic loss but also have immunity toinduced noise, especially for installationsusing long cable lengths. Balanced connec-tions have 6dB more gain than single-ended connections. When level matching iscritical, keep this specification in mind.

The XLR pin configuration is describedbelow:)

Pin 1 GroundPin 2 Non-inverting (0°)Pin 3 Inverting (180°)

The left and right channel RCA and balancedoutputs (6) are labeled on the back panel.Maintain the correct left/right orientation.

NoteBoth the balanced and single-ended out-puts can be used to simultaneously feed dif-ferent systems.

DIGITAL OUTPUTSThe KAV-300cd is equipped with one EIAJfiber optic (Toslink) and one S/PDIF coaxialdigital output. The toggle switch on the rearpanel must be set to the ON position inorder to send this output to a digital record-ing device or external D/A processor.

12 VDC Remote Power InThis input accepts 12 volt power on/off sig-nals from other Krell components, as wellas other devices that incorporate a 12 voltpower on/off trigger output. This allows forremote turn on/off of the KAV-300cd withthe power activation of another Krell com-ponent as well as other components usedin a custom installation.

NoteConsult the owner’s reference of any com-ponent used in a custom installation to takefull advantage of the remote capability ofthe KA V-3OOcd. ¯
