DeLaval Barrier TeatSpray Unit BTS03

General descriptionAn important step in the milking routine is toapply teat dip after milking. This procedurehelps to prevent mastitis. Barrier teat dipsform a physical barrier on the teats afterapplication. The film stays on the skin forsome time after milking, block the open teatcanal and prevent mastitis-causing germs toenter the udder. Due to the nature of theproduct, barrier teat dips are difficult tospray.

The DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Unit BTS03was specially designed to spray DeLavalbarrier teat dips. As a result of the uniquesystem characteristics, a quick spray nozzlechange, allows the use of high or lowviscosity teat dips.

DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Unit BTS 03works by using compressed air.

834043880 - Barrier Teat Spray Unit BTS03consists of the following components:

DeLaval Barrier TeatSpray Unit BTS03

PlanningCompressed airThe system works by using compressed air.If compressed air is not available, install acompressor unit with the following features:

- Minimum capacity air supply of 125PSI/8.6 Bar

- Volumetric flow rate of 2.6 SCFM

System configurationThe drops can be positioned in the middleof the parlor or on each side.

Check the dimensions of the milking parlorto define the number of drops necessary. The coil hose has a maximum extension of12 feet (3.6 meter).

The first drop should be installed betweenthe first and the fourth milking stall.Additional drops can be added according tothe number of milking stalls.

DeLaval Barrier TeatSpray Unit BTS03

InstallationEnclosureHang enclosure on a wall within 18 feet (5meters) of air source and less than 7 feet(2.1 meters) from the floor were chemicaldrum can be placed.

Chemical Feed Extension Hose1. Insert ½” LDPE tubing into the chemicaloutlet port on pump, (right side).

2. Route chemical tubing from enclosure toparlor and along the pit where drops will beconvenient. Secure tubing in place usingnylon zip ties at a convenient height.Preferably, above head level and no morethan 10 feet (3 meters) above pit floor.

3. End tubing approximately 10 feet (3-4.5meters) from the end of the parlor. Removeexcess lengths, do not roll it up.

4. Each drop has the capability to reachapproximately 12 feet (3.6 meters) in anydirection. Locate the first desired hanginglocation (closest to enclosure).

5. After checking spray gun accessibility tonecessary milking stations, cut chemicaltubing.

6. At cut locations, insert “T” fitting, pushtubing all the way in, and tighten nuts. Dothis at each drop location. For last droplocation, proceed to step 7. See proceduresbelow for compression fitting instructions.

Ferrule Nut Fitting Body

Tubing Tubing Stop

A. Cut the tubing end squarely and removeany internal and external burrs.

B. Insert the tubing through the back of thenut all the way through to nut assembly tothe tube stop in the fitting body. If the tubingdoes not enter the nut easily, loosen the nutone turn and then insert the tubing all theway to the tube stop in hte fitting body.

C. Turn the nut hand tight.

D. Wrench tighten the nut 1-1/2 to 2 turns.

E. All nuts must be retightened when thesystem reaches projected operatingtemperature.

Note: Squeaking sound when tightening nutis normal. For pipe threaded connections, adurable thread tape must be used.

If a shorter length is desired, it can be cutfrom the short tail end of the coil hose.

In longer barns, shorter drop length at farends can slightly improve sprayperformance.

————————————————————

Caution! To insure proper assembly, tubingmust be fully inserted into the fitting body tothe tube stop.

————————————————————

7. For the last drop location, use theprovided plugging cap on unused port of ‘’T’’fitting.

8. Firmly secure “T” to a secure surface. This will be a stressed component whenpulling on the drop.

Chemical Inlet Tube1. Cut a length of plastic pipe long enoughnot to fall into the chemical container. (Notincluded) Feed the tubing through the pipeuntil foot valve/strainer is at the bottom ofthe pipe. Attach the clear tubing to thechemical inlet on pump, and secure with ahose clamp.

Compressed Air Connection1. Turn off valve on the bottom of theenclosure.

2. Attach ¼” tubing to air inlet valve.

3. Route tubing to compressed air sourceand connect. Air source connectioncomponents not included.

Testing1. Place chemical inlet tube in bucket.

2. Turn on ball valve.

3. Set regulator to 70-90 PSI [4.8-6.2 bar]the product being sprayed will dictate thenecessary air pressure.

4. Activate guns to purge air.

5. Check for leaks. Pump will stop cyclingwhen set pressure is achieved. If pumpcontinues to cycle, there is a leaksomewhere in the spray line.

Important! 1. Increasing and decreasingair pressure will affect spray pattern, andteat dip consumption. 2. Temperature will affect teat dipviscosity. It will affect spray pattern, teatcoverage and teat dip consumption.
