Brief account of the activities/ achievements of the Institute during the previous year:
i. Games and sports
ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET
The value of athletics in any institute is of immense significance and cannot be overlooked. It has a
profound impact on individuals, the school as a whole, as well as the community.
Athletics is powerful and transcendent. It can bridge gaps, bring people with relatively nothing in
common together, and gives many participants unbelievable, life-altering opportunities.
There are so many valuable lessons that are learned through team sports such as fair play, cooperation,
sportsmanship, and passion. Pairing these athletic experiences with a rigorous academic curriculum,
students are able to work on self-discipline, respect, communication skills, and collaboration--all
attributes that will greatly benefit them in their lives..
GP Ambala gives due importance to this aspect and organized Annual Athletic Meet with the same
flamboyant spirit and zeal. A number of events, including races, jumps and throws, were organised,
witnessed by a large gathering of staff and students. The event was graced by Ms. Sharandeep Kaur
Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala as Chief Guest of the opening ceremony and Ms. Rajni
Bala, International Hockey Player, gave away the prizes to the winners in the closing ceremony.
Highlight of the event was declaration by Ms. Sharandeep Kaur Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner,
Ambala that the winners of the GP Ambala in Inter-polytechnic Meet to be held at GP Hisar from
22.03.2018, will be awarded Rs. 10000/- each, by the District Administration.
Achievements Boys team won SILVER MEDAL in Inter Polytechnic BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP (Boys) at Govt.
Polytechnic, Adampur.
Boys team won GOLD MEDAL in Inter Polytechnic Table Tennis (Boys) at SJP Polytechnic, Damla.
The Girls team won GOLD MEDAL in Inter Polytechnic Table Tennis (Girls) at KCGPW, Ambala City.
The Girls team won Gold MEDAL in INTER-POLYTECHNIC BADMINTON (GIRLS)
TOURNAMENT held at KCGPW, Ambala City
The Boys team won BRONZE MEDAL in INTER-POLYTECHNIC BASKETBALL (BOYS)

iii. Cultural activities
ANNUAL CULTURAL & PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION-2018
College life is one of the most exciting and important phases in anyone’s life. During this period, a student
comes across several experiences and learns new things. I think here it would be right to say that importance of
cultural events in college is equal to the importance of Studies. For the overall development of the students,
they need to indulge in areas of interest apart from scholastic activities. It provides a student an opportunity to
showcase the hidden talents possessed in themselves and along with it, it also keeps the student up-to-date with
his own culture, by taking part in such activities.
The institute organized the function for providing the students a platform to give vent to their hidden talent and
a colourful cultural function was the medium for this purpose. Whole of the Institution building wore a festive
look and was also decorated with colourful festoon. The students participated in various competitions like
Rangoli Making, Decoration, Poetical Recitation, Declamation Contest, Poster Making, Skit, Mime & Fancy
Dress, Song and Dance Competitions. The Principal inaugurated the function. He exhorted the students to do
their best to make the event a huge success. The Toppers were honoured on the occasion by worthy Chief
guest. The curtains of the function went down with a brief speech by the Chief Guest after prize distribution
ceremony.
