Installing Cognos 8 BI Components on Linux

This article will show step by step how to install Cognos 8 BI component in a Linuxenvironment .

For this How-to we did use Opensuse 11.

1. If you are installing to a directory with other Cognos 8components, stop the Cognos 8 service.

2. Set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to the

installation location of your Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Cognos 8 requires Sun Java to run on Linux.

3. Mount the CD for your Cognos product usingRock Ridge file extensions.

4 . Go to the directory on the CD that is appropiate
