Please follow these safety instructions closely to prevent accidents and mate-rial losses.

Safety instructions explained

NoteDetails identified by the word "Note" con-tain additional information.

Target group

These instructions are exclusivelydesigned for qualified personnel.■ Work on gas appliances must only be

carried out by a qualified gas fitter.■ Work on electrical equipment must

only be carried out by a qualified elec-trician.

Regulations

Observe the following when working onthis system■ all legal instructions regarding the pre-

vention of accidents,■ all legal instructions regarding envi-

ronmental protection,■ the Code of Practice of relevant trade

associations,■ all current safety regulations as

defined by DIN, EN, DVGW, TRGI,TRF, VDE and all locally applicablestandards.

Working on the system

■ Isolate the system from the power sup-ply and check that it is no longer 'live',e.g. by removing a separate fuse or bymeans of a mains isolator.

■ Safeguard the system against unau-thorised reconnection.

■ When using gas as fuel, also close themain gas shut-off valve and safeguardagainst unauthorised reopening.

If installation is carried out according tothe single line system with a single linefuel oil filter R ⅜ (filter grade max. 40μm), we recommend the installation ofan automatic fuel oil air vent valve withintegral oil filter.

A Oil feed line from tankB To oil pump on burner

C From oil pump on burnerD Return to tank

Always install an R ⅜ fuel oil filter in theoil supply (filter grade max. 40 µm).

Oil supply

Please also observe the requirements of oil lines according to DIN 4755 or TRÖL(Technical Regulations for Oil Systems) [or local regulations] and any applicable reg-ulations concerning water pollution. If the oil supply needs to be converted from a two-line to a single line system, sizethe suction line diameter according to the table on page 8.For tanks below the oil burner pump, the difference in height H between the oil burnerpump and the foot valve inside the tank below must not be greater than:■ in single line systems: 4 m■ in two-line systems: 3.5 mGreater height differentials lead to noisy operation and pump wear (max. vacuum 0.3bar).

An oil feed pump is required if the suction head or maximum line run for tanks installedbelow the oil burner pump is greater than that shown in the following tables. Werecommend a stand-alone vacuum pump drive. If an oil pressure vessel drive isinstalled, the pressure at the inlet connection of the oil burner pump must not exceed1.5 bar, and the oil burner should be protected by an additional solenoid valve.A connecting cable for an external fuel valve is required to regulate the solenoid valve(accessory, see Vitotec pricelist).Solenoid valve line connection:

Accessory installation instructions

1. Size the oil line in accordance withthe following tables.

2. Install the oil line.

3. Disconnect the oil burner from the oilline before testing for leaks.

4. Check the oil line and oil filter forleaks using a leak testing kit (min. 5bar pressure).

NoteThe oil burner should not be connec-ted during these tests. All oil lines andjoints must be absolutely tight. Anyleaks in the suction line would draw inair, so that the oil spray would con-tinue to feed the burner.

5. Connect the oil burner to the oil line.

NoteIf an anti-lift valve is required to meet theregulations of your regional waterauthority and the tank fill level is higherthan the lowest point in the suction line,we recommend the installation of anelectrically operated anti-lift valve.
