Trim Installation2

1Use template to locate positionfor holes on both sides of doorand mark with pencil. If FullDummy trim will be installednext to an active door, heightfrom floor and backset shouldmatch the active door. Backset isthe distance from the edge of thedoor to the center of the hole inthe face of the door. Otherwise,locate holes about 40" from floorand 23⁄8" or 23⁄4" from door edge.

5Use 1⁄16" drill bit to drill threepilot holes. Insert #6 x 3⁄4" trusshead screws into holes andtighten.

2Using spade bit, drill two 1"holes 1⁄4" deep on each side ofdoor at pencil marks. Then usewood bit to drill a 1⁄2" holecompletely through door inexact center of both 1" holes.Important: Drillperpendicularly (at a 90˚ angle)to door.

3 Insert spindle into knob/leverand align set screw hole over themarked side of spindle for yourdoor thickness. Tighten set screwwith Allen wrench.

4 Important: Backplate mustbe level to ensure proper handlealignment. Center backplates on door overhole. Insert knob/lever andspindle assembly though outsidebackplate, door, and insidebackplate. Align backplates soknob/lever is level. Mark pilotholes with pencil (see fig. 1 forscrew positions). Removeknob/lever and spindle assembly.

6Place rosettes over backplateand snap into place. Third slot(smaller) should be in bottomposition.

7With set screw down and towarddoor hinges, slide spindle (withknob/lever still attached) into holeand out other side of door.

8 Slide remaining knob/leveronto spindle with set screw holedown and toward door hingesuntil it is flush with rosette. Insertset screw and tighten with Allenwrench.

If you need to remove rosettesafter they are installed, loosen set screw and remove knob/leverand spindle. Place flat headscrewdriver into bottom slot ofrosette and pry off.

Can’t remove rosettes for painting. If rosette has a slot, pry the rosette off with a small screwdriver. Care must be taken to ensure that finish is not damaged. Refer to removing rosettes.

Rosettes are loose and rattle when door closes. Remove knobs (or levers) and rosettes. Use a small screwdriver to spread steel springs which rosette attaches to slightly. Care must be taken not to spreadthem too far or they will bend when rosette is installed again. Refer to removing rosettes.
