INSTRUCTION

MANUAL

Quick Start Up Guide Congratulations on your decision to purchase an easy to operate and easy to maintain South Pacific Spa.

Follow this guide for quick and easy start up.

IMPORTANT SITE PREPARATION NOTE:

IMPORTANT

Do Not Use Shims, Wedges, or Other Type Leveling Devices While Leveling The Spa

1. Your new Spa must be installed on solid flat surface that will support 3000 pounds. It is critical that you do

not use shims, wedges or similar leveling devices while leveling the Spa. 100% floor contact is necessary to

prevent long term distortion. Improper installation may void your warranty. Leave minimum 18 inches of

space at each end of the spa to ensure that the covers will open properly.

2. Locate the round plate on the bottom corner of the spa that says Power Cord and remove it. If you are going to

operate your spa at 110v, simply remove the 15’ electrical cord with the attached GFCI that is located behind

this plate. Plug it into a dedicated 15 amp wall outlet, but do not depress any buttons on the GFCI breaker or

top side control. If you are going to operate your spa at 220v, you must hire a certified electrician to install

a 220v, 50amp GFCI breaker and to connect the wiring to your spa. Instructions to convert the spa from

110v to 220v are located on the inner wall of the removable cover of the equipment control pack. To locate

control pack, first locate the panel with the vent, this will be the pump location, the panel beside it will expose

the control pak. Ensure that the 220v breaker is disconnected until the spa is filled with water.

3. If you are not on city water and your source water contains metals, such as iron, do not fill the spa directly.

Connect the pre filter from the parts bag to your garden hose. This will ensure that you start out with

cleaner water. Open the spa covers and remove the filter cover and filter. Insert the end of your garden hose

into the filter mounting pipe and begin to fill your spa. This will purge air from the water lines and it will

make priming the pump easier. Fill the spa to the level of the highest holes in the filter cover. Do not turn the

spa on until it is full.

4. When the spa is full, depress the reset button on the GFCI of the 110v cord or connect power for 220v.

5. Balance and sanitize your water as per the instructions and/or recommendations of your dealer.

6. Note: When you are not using your spa and the covers are closed, ensure that the 2 black air control

knobs, located on the top ends of the spa, are in the closed position. This will prevent air from entering

the spa when it is in filter mode and it will help to maintain your set temperature more efficiently.

7. The circuit board inside the control pack contains a set of 10 DIP Switches. Below is a quick reference for

their settings for 110 voltage. Refer to the conversion instructions on the inside cover of the spa control pack

for 220 voltage settings.

TROUBLESHOOTING

SERVICE GUIDE

**WARNING: Spa system contains live electricity shock hazard!

Any work within the spa system should only be performed by QUALIFIED PERSONNEL**

No Power to Spa:

Check the house circuit for power, reset GFCI, check main fuse in spa Pak.

GFI is Tripping:

For a new installation on 220 volts the problem is most likely the wiring of the GFI breaker. For a Spa that has been

running a while the problem can be isolated by unplugging or disconnecting the Ozonator, heater, pump and light one

at a time and resetting the GFI to see if the spa stops tripping. *WARNING* disconnect heater last and remove only

the circuit board connection for test always use a back up wrench on heater terminals so as not to twist terminals. On

existing spas the Heater is the common cause of this problem.

220 Conversion Problems:

Refer to instructions on the inside of the Spa Pak cover (If GFI trips instantly the problem is the neutral wire path in

the GFI).

Error Codes on Topside Display:

Refer to operational guide error code section (Any flow codes maybe caused by a dirty filter).

Spa Runs Constantly:

Allow 24 hours for initial warm up and refer to operational guide, preset filter cycles set for F-2 or F-4 depending on

usage FC will cause continuous running of the Spa, check Topside for error codes.

Topside Display Malfunction:

Check to see that dipswitch #3 is ON and #1and #2 are OFF. (Dipswitch’s are located in the center of circuit board

near the bottom)

Dip Switch Settings:

110 voltage switch #’s 3, 5, 7, 10 in the UP position.

220 voltage switch #’s 3, 5, 7 in the UP position.

220 voltage with circ pump (2 pump system) switch #’s 3, 5, 7, 9 in the Up position.

Spa Won’t Heat Up:

On 110 voltage, Spa will only gain 1.5 degree per hour and will not heat with pump on high speed. Close lids, allow

proper warm up time, check for error messages on Topside display, check to see that Spa is not in economy or sleep

mode, typically programmed out dipswitch (refer to operational guide) # 7 switch should be in the Up position.

Check for correct voltage at heater terminals when heater light is on, heater light is located on topside control under

the temp switch.

Spa is Leaking:

Make sure visible water is not from condensation, lid run off or overflow of tub. Make sure drain valve is closed,

remove access panels to inspect for leak.

Low Flow Problems:

Change filter element, check to see that the pump is moving water (if no sign of moving water check for pump

airlock, remove access panel with louvered vent, loosen upper pump union and allow air to bleed) check to be sure

equipment isolation valves are in the Up or Open position (located in or near equipment compartment).

Jet Low Flow Problems:

Check to be sure the jets are turned to the Open position (Counterclockwise) and air control valve is in the Open

position. Jets can be removed if necessary to check for blockage or for replacement, turn counterclockwise until you

hear a click then pull straight out, be sure to reinstall in the correct position with tabs aligned to slot.

Pump Problems: Refer to pump sheet.

Pump Surges Constantly: Low water level.

Pump runs but does not move water: Check for airlock, remove access panel with louvered vent, loosen upper

pump union and allow air to bleed.

**Any Spa replacement parts can be purchased through Dealer

or on our parts website www.hardcoverspa.com**

PUMP TROUBLESHOOTING

“The Trouble Free Serviceable Spa”

Most service calls can be handled on the phone.

Side panel removal allows easy access to all interior spa plumbing for easy checking or repair. Total jet

accessibility in minutes.

Top of the line controls and pumps and best quality jets are standard on all Spas in the South Pacific line.

All spare parts are instantly available from the factory, if not already in stock at the dealer.

Service Guide

1. Refer to controls guide and be familiar with the key pad operations.

2. To connect the heater to 220 volts refer to the directions on the inside cover of the Spa control pack in the Spa

side compartment.

3. Spa cover must be closed for the Spa to heat up. Heating time depends on air temperature, but generally a Spa

should be on for 20 hours before using. The spa is equipped for 220 volts conversion for faster heating if

desired. The Spa will automatically cycle on for 2 hours a day for filtration. Jets must be all open when the

Spa is not used for proper heating and filtration. The Spa pump will continue to run until reaching the set

temperature.

4. Use a dedicated circuit (20 Amp for FP100-20 and 15 Amp for FP100-15) within the 15’ cord distance.

5. The Spa cord has a G.F.I protection device, if it repeatedly trips, disconnect the plug from the receptacle until

the fault has been identified and corrected.

6. If an extension cord is used, it must be as short as possible and at least a 10 gage. Inferior cords will cause a

Spa controls to mal function.

7. The heating Spa will cause condensation to form on the outside and bottom of the spa and can be reason to

believe the Spa is leaking. Small apparent leaks should be given a few days before further investigation is

started. Condensation on the cover underside may drip down the spa sides.

8. The Spa pump motor has an automatic high temperature shut off switch. If the motor stops it will auto start

when it cools.

9. Leaks can occur if a Jet body is not properly tightened. If a leak is suspected, remove the decorative panel with

a screwdriver. The insulation covering the jets is fiberglass or foam blocks which are easily taken out for a

seat jet access. If the jet is leaking and does not stop with tightening then back off the nut and apply a silicone

sealant.

10. Other tubing, manifolds, valves, etc. can be accessed throughout the Spa by removing other panels.

11. If a hole is in the Spa body, which is unlikely, it can be sealed only by melting the plastic into the hole. This is

best done carefully using an electric soldering iron to soften the surrounding plastic and work into the hole.

Spa must be thoroughly dry before applying the heat, so that there will be no steam formed as it will limit the

temperature to 212F, not hot enough. Do not attempt to apply glues, fiberglass, caulking or other patches as

the Spa shell is made of polyethylene which cannot be glued.

Set Up &Basic Operating Guide

Read and Understand All Instructions before operating your Spa.

Filling Your Spa Check that your Spa's drain valve (located behind the Spas drain cover/varies between models) is closed. With the

electrical breaker in the OFF position and/or the power cord un-plugged, fill to an approximate water level of 2"

above the top of the highest jet. Once the Spa is filled, power can then be supplied to your Spa. The Spa's heater will

begin heating to the temperature selected on your control panel. (See Spa Controller Instructions Attached)

Draining Your Spa Unplug the Spa's electrical power supply. The Spa must remain unplugged until re-filled with water. Remove the cap

from the Spa's Drain hose and connect standard garden hose. Place the opposite end of the garden hose in the drainage

area and open the Spa's drain valve.

Adjusting Massage Jets To adjust for direction, rotate the "eyeball" of the jet in the desired direction. To adjust for flow, turn the outer knob

clockwise to increase flow and counter clockwise to decrease flow. Do Not fully decrease flow to all of the jets at the

same time. This may cause your pump to malfunction and ultimately fail.

Air Adjustment To introduce air into your Massage Jets, Turn the Air Adjustment Dials (located on the Spa's top edge). Adjust the

same as with the Massage Jets, clockwise to increase flow and counter clockwise to decrease flow.

Suction Fitting Keep the suction fitting (located in the foot well area) of the Spa unobstructed and free from debris at all times. Do not remove

the suction-fitting screen while the Spa is connected to electrical power.

Selecting the right site for your new Spa It is important that your new Spa be installed on a Solid, Flat, and Level Surface that is engineered to carry a load of

75 pounds per square feet. The proper site of your New Spa is in an area that is Not Accessible to Children. Security

or Pool Yard gates should be in place to separate Children from the Spa. Spas should not be placed near or below

Electrical or telephone cables. If there is not a dedicated 120 Volt receptacle within the 10 feet of your Spa, contact a

Licensed Electrician to supply power near the Spa. A GFCI Power Cord is supplied with all models. The GFCI

power Cord must be tested each use to insure proper operation. To test, simply depress the button marked "TEST"

on the GFCI Unit, the unit should stop operating and the reset button should appear. Push the reset button. The unit

should now operate normally. If the interrupter does not perform in this manner, a ground current is following

indicating the possibility of electric shock. Disconnect the power until the fault has been identified and corrected.

Care and Maintenance Instructions

Cleaning the Filter Cartridges

1. Disconnect power

2. Remove the Filter Cover

3. Remove the Filter Cartridge by pulling straight up

4. Rinse Dirt and Debris away thoroughly with a garden hose

5. Replace Filter Cartridges and Cover.

6. Spa Power can then be turned back on

Water Chemistry

Read and Understand the Spa Chemistry Guidelines supplied by your dealer or chemical supplier. Some general

guidelines and tips are listed on next page. It is Un-healthful to use your Spa when the water is not in proper Chemical

Balance.

Warning

Do not use Calcium Hypochlorite's or Trichlors. Doing so may cause corrosion to your pump that will not be covered

by your Spa's Warranty.

Winterizing

If the Spa is to be transported or stored in temperatures 32º F (0º C) or lower, it is critical that the Spa be fully

winterized.

1. The Spa must be fully emptied

2. The drain valve must remain in the open position

3. The drain valve cap removed and stored

4. The Filter Cartridge Element must be removed, dried and stored.

5. Remove the plug bottom of the pump housing.

Hard Top Covers & Surfaces

1. When not in use please keep cover strapped down at all times. Failure to do so may cause cover to bow and

not close correctly.

2. Hot and Cold weather causes the material to expand and contact so gaps between the cover and spa may occur.

As long as the gasket sits on the top edge of the spa. Any inconsistencies or small gaps around the edge of the

cover are irrelevant.

3. The high-grade resin from which the spas are constructed can be easily cleaned with and mild soap and water

solutions.

4. Screws on the cover arms may need to be tightened on occasion, depending on use.

Guide to Spa Water Chemistry

General Guidelines for Initial Treatment

Once the temperature of your hot tub reaches about 80º Fahrenheit (30º Celsius), you can start adding chemicals. Warm

water will allow any granular chemicals to dissolve properly

Test and adjust the pH of the water to 7.6 - 8.2 by adding either a capful of pH-up or pH-down (add pH up if the pH

tests low and vice versa). Allow the water to filter for 30 minutes before retesting the pH.

Sanitizing the spa water - Use an appropriate amount of Bromine/Chlorine (See instructions on the container or

consult with your pool supply professional).

***If you are new to water maintenance, test your spa water with test strips daily to ensure you have a proper sanitizer

level. If you are using an Ozone device, you can keep the bromine/chlorine level at the low end of 'ideal' on your test

kit scale. You will find that your spa will use less of your sanitizer because the ozone is killing some of the bacteria.

Cleaning your South Pacific Spa

1. Drain your spa water every 3 to 4 months, depending on use.

2. The filter should be cleaned every month or more frequently for high bather loads. Soak overnight in filter

cartridge cleaner and rinse well before replacing in spa.

3. Refill spa with fresh water to the recommended level. The water line should cover all the upper jets in the spa.

Weekly maintenance

1. Test water for bromine/chlorine, pH and alkalinity.

2. Adjust pH to 7.6 - 8.2 and alkalinity to 100.

3. Repeat sanitation as in the "initial treatment" (add bromine/chlorine as needed).

4. Rinse off the filter cartridge with fresh water. Soak the filter in cartridge cleaner monthly or more frequently if you

have a large bather load.

Ozone Systems

1. Ozone Systems only run during filter modes, to change run time of the systems, modify your Filtration times

via your Topside Controller.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY:

The water in the spa or hot tub should never exceed 40° C (104° F). Water temperatures between 38° C (100° F)

and 40° C (104° F) are considered safe for a healthy adult. Lower water temperatures are recommended for
