Ceiling Preparation

Before beginning the installation process, ensure that the ceiling is structurally sound, dry and free of imperfections (cracks, holes, etc.)

Wear gloves at all times throughout the installation process.

After preparing the ceiling for installation, dry fit the panels to the ceiling. Measure the panels and the ceiling and ensure they are straight and line up together accordingly. If required, use the utility knife and the straight edge to accurately cut the panels to the appropriate length, and cut out all penetrations.

Printed Panels

Ensure that all Acoufelt QuietPrint Panels are installed at the correct orientation as provided by the Acoufelt print and installation plan to avoid any variation in pattern that may impact the overall look and feel of the finished installation.

Disclaimer

Acoufelt strives to fulfil the needs of their customers by producing the highest quality felt products. However due to the fine, fibrous and textural nature of the product, slight visual imperfections may be seen when viewing the product from less than 1 to 1.5 meters. These slight visual imperfections however, are within normal industry manufacturing tolerances.

When installing QuietPrint, we recommend that you align the panels to their closest match at eye level, and allow for +/- 5mm Alignment Tolerance.

• Clean gloves • Caulking gun

• Utility knife • Roller

• Straight edge • Liquid Nails

• Measuring tape • Spray adhesive

• Ladder/Scaffolding

Steps: For Adhesive Method

1. Wear clean white gloves throughout the installation process. Use matching caulk available at a local resource to fill in any unwanted cracks in joints or between panels and ceiling.

2. All panels are labelled with a sticker indicating the back of the panel.

3. After preparing the ceiling for installation, dry fit (without adhesive) the panels to the ceiling. Measure the panels and the ceiling and ensure they are straight and line up. If required, use the utility knife and the straight edge to accurately cut the panels to the appropriate dimensions.

4. Trim off any excess material around joins, pipes, vents, lighting etc.

Steps: For Liquid Nails application

• Using the caulking gun and liquid nails, apply the adhesive on the ceiling to be covered up by the panel. To avoid adhesive flowing through the joins when the panels are installed, apply the adhesive two finger widths away from the ceiling corner/join, then apply adhesive in a zig zag pattern across the centre of the application area, as shown in fig. a.

Steps: For spray adhesive application

• Apply the spray adhesive around the inner edge of the ceiling to be covered up by the panel. Spray the panel, 50-100mm widths away from the panel perimeter, then apply adhesive in a zig zag pattern across the center of the application area (as shown in fg. b). After this, spray the ceiling for installation with full coverage and wait 5-10 minutes for the adhesive to be become tacky before installing the panels.

5. Keeping the ceiling panel as straight as possible, press the underside of the panel onto the wet adhesive. Apply pressure to panels when mounting to ensure the seems are tight, otherwise we would recommend leaving a reveal between panels.

6. Apply even pressure with the roller and firmly press all areas of the panel to the ceiling. If required, hold the panels in place for a few minutes using poles or scaffolding.

7. Wipe away any leaked or excess adhesive from the panel before beginning the adjoining panel. Avoid any adhesive making contact with face of the panel.

The VL-03 and VL-03H are ideal for mounting ceiling and wall panels in areas with minimal frame and panel thickness. The VL-03 and VL-03H clip sets use the patented Super Groove system to mechanically engage into adhesive. Screw or adhesive combinations can be used.

If concerned about the screw holding in the panel apply a small amount of Construction adhesive to the screw prior to inserting into the panel.

Fast Mount Method

6

Steps: For Fast Mount Method

1. Using the drill, screw the side without the insulated cover into the panel. For a 12mm (½”) panel it is recommended to use 2 clip sets for every 2.4m2 (8 ft²) so if you are applying to a standard full-size panel apply 8 clips to the edges of the panels.

2. All panels are labelled with a sticker identifying the back of the panel.

3. On the surface the panel is being installed onto, drill a 25mm/1” hole 7mm/0.28” deep

4. Apply liquid nails adhesive or Fastmount SuperGroove CT-5010 Adhesive to VL-F3

5. Fit the VL-F3 or VL-F3H clip according to the weight you are hanging. Adhesive will engage onto the supergrooves in clip base, allow the adhesive to cure.

6. Insert VL-CP3 into the VL-F3 or VL-F3H clip. This will then mark the drill spot on the back of the panel.

7. Drill a 4mm/0.16” hole, 5mm/0.2” deep (with CT-09 bit) on the mark that has been created. Repeat this step for all locations of the Fast Mount Clips.

8. Adjust the clutch of the drill to prevent over tightening.

9. Screw VL-M3 with VL-SS3 (Screw) into the panel. Screw allows lateral movement of VL-M3.

10. Fit clips at maximum 300mm/11.8” centres on the panel.

11. Bring panel to the ceiling. Position Fast Mount clips to press and lock the clip.
