Install and Activate NVivo 11 Pro for WindowsNVivo Pro 11 is an analytical tool designed to assist in analyzing data for qualitative research projects. It allows coding and analysis of various types of non-numerical data such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, journal articles, and the like. It helps examine relationships and themes, and draw models and charts to visualize the project data. Note: You must have administrator permissions for the computer on which you are installing the software. The following describes how to download, install and activate NVivo 11 Pro for Windows:
Download & Installation
1. In your preferred browser (Mozilla Firefox was used in the creation of this document), navigate to www.qsrinternational.com/support/downloads.
2. The QSR Downloads page appears in your browser. Click the NVivo11 for Windows link that
corresponds to your operating system.

3. The Opening NVivo11.exe file will appear. Click Save File.

4. Click the downloads button (See Figure 3).
5. Click the NVivo11.exe installer file (See Figure 3).

6. The NVivo 11 - InstallShield Wizard window appears to allow you to select the language for installation.
English is selected by default, but you may use the drop-down box to select and alternate language. Click
OK.

7. The NVivo 11- InstallShield Wizard window will display items to be installed on your computer
(See Figure 5).
8. Click Install (See Figure 5).

9. NVivo 11 Setup begins extracting files for the InstallShield Wizard.

10. The NVivo 11 Installer opens to advise you to close all other programs and begin software setup. Click
Next.

11. The License Agreement window appears. Click the radio button to accept the terms in the license
agreement (See Figure 8).
12. Click Next (See Figure 8).

13. The Setup Options window appears to display the location where the files will be installed and allow you to
select whether or not you want a desktop shortcut.
a. To select an alternate location, click the Change… button (See Figure 9).
b. The Create a desktop shortcut box checked by default. Uncheck if you do not want a desktop
shortcut (See Figure 9).
c. Click Next (See Figure 9).

14. The Supplementary Add-ons window appears to enable you to gather material from the web for import.
Click all checkboxes that apply (See Figure 10).
15. Click Next (See Figure 10).

16. If you want to review or change any installation settings, click Back. Otherwise click Install.

17. NVivo 11 begins to install. This may take several minutes.

18. When complete, the NVivo Installer Completed window appears. Click Finish.

19. NVivo is now installed on your computer.
Activation
1. Click the Windows Start menu icon (See Figure 14).
2. The Nvivo 11 app is listed in your Recenlty added list. Click the Nvivo 11 app to open (See Figure 14).

Note: If Nvivo is not listed under Recently Added, you can type Nvivo in the search bar to locate the app.

3. NVivo Setup window appears.
a. Enter the license key (See Figure 15).
