Oh that my words were written with an iron pen on a

granite tablet so my story could be read forever.

~ Job 19:23-24

Who am I to share with you?

•  I am a writer at heart.

•  I have a story to tell.

•  I write with purpose.

•  I write with passion.

•  I write out of love.

•  My view on life… When all else fails, write about it.

•  Can you relate?

A little about myself…

•  I am a charter member and current meeting facilitator (whatever that means) of Chattanooga Women Writers. •  We are currently participating in NaNoWriMo, which is National Novel Writing

Month.

•  Writing is my natural language.

•  Writing is my greatest language – in my opinion.

•  I am currently writing a memoir about my life… •  To sum it all up in one sentence (if you’re interested) it is “A young mothers

compelling personal journey of struggles and depression as she tries to manage a family while finding her true self and life’s purpose.”

Welcome to Personal Writing 101…

•  So, we’re going to talk about writing

•  Things I ask myself when I get started: •  What is the message you want to convey?

•  Do you feel led to share a story or to simply write a story?

•  Is the story for your benefit or the benefit of others?

Commit your writing to the Lord, and your message will touch people’s hearts. — Proverbs 16:3

Anything can be an inspiration…

•  Children create great writing moments

•  The world around us – nature

•  Moments in public •  At the store

•  At a restaurant

•  At school

•  And, of course, church!

•  Anything can inspire us; we just have to take notice.

Things to consider… •  Who is your audience?

•  What are you trying to say?

•  How do you feel about what you are saying?

•  As you write, think about emotion, empathy, and your point of view with regard.

•  And, above all, be honest.

I write honestly from my heart, seeking to make the truth known. — Job 33:3

Little writer’s reminders… •  A Penny for your thoughts

•  Keep a Notepad and Pen handy for those inspirational moments

•  We can Erase away mistakes, so don’t worry about them

•  Life is colorful, like a rainbow of Markers to color your stories

•  Discouragement may come but you can bounce back like a Bouncy Ball

•  Great ideas pop in and out, like Bubbles in your head

•  Keep molding and shaping the story, like Play Dough, until it’s just right
