Event Summary

Objective

The Event is a celebration of Cartier’s short film campaign, ‘Shape Your Time.’ The film aims to highlight the brands unique watch-making style. Cartier is a pioneer of inventiveness and creativity in watch-making and this is reflected in the technical yet elegant design of their timepieces. The film links the past, present and future, through a journey into Cartier’s time, from their first inventions to their vision for the future. The campaign is tar-geted towards the modern man, which is emphasized in the film through the use of watch mechanisms, leop-ards, spaceships. It ends with a scene between a father and son which is supposed to be a representation of a message for today’s modern man. The campaign also launches the latest Masculine Timepiece, ‘Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch,’ and exhibits four other iconic pieces from the Mens Watchmaking collection: ‘Santos de Cartier,’ ‘Tank,’ ‘Ballon Bleu de Cartier’ and ‘Calibre de Cartier.’ They all demonstrate Cartier’s skillful watchmaking techniques with their elegant and bold designs.

Event Discovery

Past

The ‘Shape Your Time’ Campaign was launched on September 28th 2014. There have been two events for the film, one in Singapore and one in Sydney. In Sydney, guests were taken to a secret location where the key pieces from Cartier’s Menswear Collection were displayed around the room on tables echoing the roman numerals of the Caliber de Cartier. The guests were then seated at custom made, curved polished steel tables that formed the circular shape of a watch dial.

The official launch took place in Singapore, the Campaign was a two day event. An architect was hired to design the event space, it had a unique concept that represented a man’s living environment. The space had dedicated areas, each highlighting specific aspects of one of the iconic timepieces being displayed. For exam-ple, the straight lines taken from the roman numerals of the Tank and the Sapphire Blue Cabochon taken from the crown design. The exhibition space, which was also open to the public, gave visitors a walk through of the history of the time pieces as well as the discovery of the technical expertise and creativity that goes into each watch. The space also had 3D screens, touch-screens and interactive books and tablets where guests could personally experience and discover the innovative stories of the French Watchmaker/Jeweler.

The interactive screens for guests to experience Cartier’s films and stories work really well in connecting the brand to the consumer/guest. The customized display tables which represent the circular shape of a watch dial works well to echo the theme of time and movement.

Event Overview

The ‘Shape Your Time’ Campaign is a extravagantly Luxurious representation of the Brand’s Vision, it celebrates the company’s heritage in watch-making and iconic timepieces. At the Event, this will be executed through the exhibi-tion of the timepieces in a circular shape symbolizing a watch dial. The display will be exhibited in the same room as the Cocktail Reception and will be decorated with candles, red flowers and the Brand’s iconic symbol: The Panther. The Campaign is targeted towards the Modern Man, so to enhance this through the guest experience,in addition to the regular bar in the Cocktail Reception, there will also be a Whiskey Bar, a Cigar Rolling Station and a Gourmet Chocolate Station for after Dinner.

The event will start at 7:00p.m with the Cocktail Reception in the McGraw Rotunda Room and be followed by a seated dinner in the Celeste Bartos Room. As the guests enter the Celeste Bartos Room, the walls and ceiling of the room will be filled with small Roman Numeral numbers being projected from gobo’s. This will add to the atmo-sphere in the room emphasizing the theme of time.

The Menu that is being proposed is Steak, this based on the fact that the campaign is targeted towards men. Due to this being a high end event, the servers will ask each guest individually how they like their steak done before the first course is served. The Steak knives will then be brought out with the meal. There will also be a vegetarian option available. Both red and white wine will be served throughout dinner and there will be a champagne toast at some point during the event. During the course of dinner there will be a short talk about the campaign and video screens will roll the short film, ‘Shape Your Time.’ After dinner, guests will be encouraged to go back to the McGraw Rotunda Room

The centerpieces that have been proposed, highlight the Brand’s iconic symbol of the panther, which will make a spectacular impact in the room. Many of the timepieces are influenced by the panther in various forms and poses throughout history, they are used for the designs realistically, graphically and taken as inspiration.

To end the event and make sure the guests remember the night, there will be giveaways in the form of ceramic plates imprinted with a clock and personalized with the Brand’s logo and the event details. As smoking is not per-mitted inside the Library, the guests will be given cigars in individual cases, which they may smoke outside or take it with them to smoke in their own personal time.
