Insomnia is a mental disorder that causes the person with the disorder to lose the ability to go to sleep or stay asleep. Insomnia is a common disease that is known to effect roughly 50 to 80 percent of people .

Insomnia is usually the side effect of other disease. Because of this, if a patient feels like they are experiencing insomnia they may ask if the patient has any other mental disorders.

Insomnia has many different symptoms other than a lack of sleep. Other symptoms of insomnia include:

Trouble focusing

Irritability

Anxiousness

Insomnia is a treatable disorder. Medication can be prescribed though it is usually not the first method used to cure the disease. There are many behavorial methods that are used by doctors to cure depression. If someone think that they do have insomnia they should seek the help of a medical professionsal.
