G reetings and welcome to 'Insight', Our Area 53 Newsletter for accomplished toastmaster members . I'm delighted to be representing everyone as Editor of this exceptional news-letter of the leading Area in D20; sharing delightful achievements, events and

valuable contributions from everyone. 'Insight' is an important development to showcase our diverse contributions, inspiring events and energetic activities, from five of our proactive and established Toastmasters clubs under the guiding star TM Yoosaf Vannarath, representing Dhukhan, Qatar Malaya-lam, Mind tune, KBPN & FCC Vanitha. It is a honour and privilege to be sharing this insightful edition as we all have made sig-nificant contributions for area 53. Inspiring leadership, our peers and Toastmaster colleagues in Area 53, constantly seek new opportunities to develop, learn, share and engage, as a warm collaborative and inclu-sive community. This makes our newsletter, one which inspires and celebrates great team-work. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our inspirational leader, Area 53 Director TM Yoosaf Vannarath, who has spent much of his time for supporting this newsletter and for including me as Editor representing this established community. Our sincere gratitude is shared to former Division Q Director DTM Raghavan Menon and his team, as they have left a great legacy for us to build on, plan and action. Dear Area 53 Director Yoosaf,

A t the outset let me congratulate you for bringing out your Area Newsletter: Insight

This shows your commitment of showcasing the achievements of your Area to all mem-

bers. This year Area 53 has achieved the great distinction of becoming the No.1 Area in the entire

District 20. This is not a small achievement. Also you won the Best Area Director Award in the

Oryx Awards of Division Q on June 25, 2016. Congratulations to you and all members of Area 53

for these achievements. I have no hesitation in saying that you achieved all these due to your dedi-

cation & perfect planning. Your Area also had a net growth of 2 new clubs during this year. This is

also a great achievement. It was also commendable that many Clubs in your Area won awards on

the Oryx Awards evening: Qatar Malayalam Toastmaster’s Club bagged the Best Club of the Year

award, both Mindtune Waves & FCC Vanitha were given the Best New Clubs and KBPN as the

Most Improved Club. TM Shaji Koshi of Qatar Malayalam Toastmasters Club also won the Best

Toastmaster of the Year Award. Qatar Malayalam Toastmasters also won the Best Newsletter of

the Year award. In addition to this, 7 members won Triple Crown as well. These are no mean

achievements.

Over all, Area 53 really stood tall among all other Areas in Division Q. Area 53’s outstanding per-

formance, helped the Division Q as well. Thank you AD Yoosaf for your contribution in making

Division Q, a Presidents Distinguished Division and No.2 Division in the entire District 20. Wish-

ing all the very best to you to become the Best Area Director of the District 20 when it will be an-

nounced during the DTAC 2017. You deserve it & I’m sure you will achieve it. Good luck.

I am very delighted to say that you gave me the best working environment to accomplish my duty as a Director of Area 53. It is a matter of great pride that Area 53 has done exceedingly well in all spheres at both Division and District levels. It is with your significant support and contribution, Area 53 became one of the eminent Areas in District 20 and it is the first Presi-

dent’s distinguished Area in District 20 and also maintained as the top ranking area of district 20 despite all the hurdles and challenges we faced. Thanks to the unflinching grit of the members, we could achieve this great honor easily. I am proud of you, Toastmasters of Area 53. When I took over as Area 53 director in July 2015, there were only three clubs of which two of them were Malayalam language clubs. And two of the three clubs were either still growing up to be strong or was under big threat due to the random large scale lay-offs and imminent insecurity in the oil/gas sector. But you stood your ground, you took on obstacles head on and the Toastmas-ter spirit in you and hard work paid off in turning these around into vibrant clubs. The club con-sidered earlier as ‘weak’ became ‘Distinguished’ even before 31st December and a member at-tained Triple Crown. Thanks to the founder President of KBPN TM Noorulhack for all his efforts. The other club is also President’s Distinguished Club now. Thanks to the leaders of Dukhan, TM Seshacharan, TM Sebastian Mascarenhas, TM Mohd Salaudeen, TM K Jayasundara, TM Ahmed Maama, DTM Sameer Moosa and TM Nasimudeen A Hameed for their true leadership skills. Now clubs under area 53 are stronger than ever. The one and only family club in Qatar, the Qatar Malayalam club showcased variety of events like icebreaking night, CC night, green meeting which was unique in the history of Toastmasters in Qatar. The TI Toastmasters Magazine also published the green initiative of the club. Enough reason to bring a smile to your lips. With your help we could form two more clubs-

Mindtune Waves Toastmasters, chartered in November 2015, already created history be taking Toastmasters to the common people; have already released three issues of newsletter which bagged the Dist 20 PR award named Captivating Communique. Thanks to Interna-tional mindtuner C A Razak and TM Mashood Thiruthiyad for their visionary decision to form this club. FCC Vanitha Toastmasters, the first ‘ladies only’ Malayalam club in Qatar also created history. Within two weeks of chartering they fielded three contestants at the area contest and within a short span of three months they completed thirty ice breaker speeches and ten ice-breaking speeches in a single meeting. Their first newsletter is also released. Thanks to FCC Executive Director Habeeb Rahman Kizhissery for his visionary step in forming a Toastmas-ters club for FCC Vanitha vedi and to the leader TM Aparna Ranish for taking the lead role in forming this club.

Area 53 created another history during this term. Seven members from this area clinched Triple Crown this year of which five of them are from Qatar Malayalam TM club, the first Malayalam Toastmasters club of Qatar. Congratulations to TM Sajina Manshur, the VPPR of Qatar Malaya-lam club for receiving the D20 PR Captivating Communique award for “Spandanam” newsletter. Congratulations to TM Sebastian Mascarenhas for securing the first runner up in DTAC 2016 humorous contest. Finally bagging many awards in Div-Q Oryx award night, Area 53 stood on top of the list show-ing that we have the strength and we can do better. The Best Toastmasters club, The Most Im-proved Toastmasters club, The Best new Toastmasters clubs, The Best Toastmasters of the Year and The Best Newsletter in other Languages. Thanks to the club leaders for their proactive ap-proach in attaining the keeping the flag of Area 53 high. At present, two of the clubs are President’s distinguished, one club is select distinguished and two clubs are distinguished. Thank you all, we are number one in District 20. The accolades are yours. The accolades are mine. The accolades are truly ours As Area Director, I couldn’t have asked for more. My best wishes to all the Toastmasters for a continued successful journey to achieve your per-sonal and professional goals.

S ince founding, Qatar Malayalam Toastmasters has been consistently recognized as a club where members can develop their public speaking and leadership skills. Behind everyone’s suc-cess, there is an effort and dedication present. As a club president I am really proud of my team and they did an outstanding job. Through my leadership the club achieved President’s Distinguished Club status in 2015 -16. Five members of QMTC attained Triple Crown award and I congratulate our VP Education TM Shaji Koshy who is behind this suc-cess. The Triple Crown achievers are TM Shaji Koshy, TM Fouzia Hamzas, TM Mohammed Shareef, TM Subair Pandavath and TM Hameed MT. Four detailed Newsletter was published by our club VPPR TM Sajina Manshur. She deserves a big applause for her hard work. Also the club conducted the club contest in which most of the members participated very energetically. The most attrac-tive part of the club is that the participation of members in Area level Contest and TM Nisamudheen SA backed three first place in International, Table Topic and Evaluation Speech Contest and TM Subair Pandavath bagged second place in Humorous speech con-test and TM Fouzia Hamzas won third place in Humorous speech contest and again in Division level TM Nisamudheen SA won third place in Table Topic speech contest. Above all one of our wonderful achievements was the Paperless Meeting which was recognized in TMI level. Beyond all we con-ducted CC night, two Ice breaking night and apart had four time QMTC family get together where the members and family enjoyed their fun filled day. Our club VPPR TM Sajina Manshur received District 20 PR Captivating Communiqué Award and TM Mohammed Shareef received District 20 CGD award. During my presidential term QMTC achieved three more laurels in Division level our VP Education Shaji Koshy received a deserved Award as Best Toastmaster of The Year Award, our VPPR TM Sajina Manshur received a very reserved award for Best News Letter and last but not least the club received The Best Club of The Year Award. I congratulate all the winners and my team for bringing Qatar Malayalam Toastmasters Club one of the best in the town. As the president of QMTC I thank the Area 53 Director, TM Yoosaf Vannarath for serving a vital role in Qatar Malayalam Toast-masters Club. As a president of the club we had a direct link with him which helped me to run the club very smoothly with many responsibilities. He encouraged ideas and cooperation from our club and member. The recommendations and support from the Area made a tremendous impact on the future of the club in our area, empowering club officers to help members learn, grow, and achieve. As the president of the club I had got a supportive learning environment for mem-bers by establishing the best possible experience from the very beginning from the Area and the Director. Clubs are the heart of Toastmasters International and as a president I and my team have already realized it through the assistance from Area 53 Director TM Yoosaf Vannarath. I am proud to be part of Mindtune Waves Toastmasters club with dedicated and committed members, which is formed and working under the right supervision of Division Director and Area Director, who always provided the support to strengthen the club. The first meeting of “Mindtune Waves Toastmasters club” was held at Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) on 22nd October 2015, the same day where in Toastmasters club (Smedley Chapter One) was formed in 1924 at the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, United States. Our journey from October 2015 started with many achievements in several areas including District honor for membership cam-paign, prizes in area contests and finally our club grabbed the best new club award from Division and Captivating communique, the District 20 PR award for one of the best newsletter in District 20. Mindtune waves is a group of participants who attended the workshop lead by International Mindtuner and success coach Mr. CA Rezakh. He visited Qatar more than 9 times within one and half year and more than 1000 participated in his Mindtune, Businesstune and Salestune workshops in Qatar. Mindtune turned out to be a popular terminology among all as he led many sessions in various parts of the world and including GCC countries. We realize the passion and enthusiasm of the club members who are creatively utilizing the platform as an opportunity to express the confidence to face any challenges as practically learned from the transformation workshop. The senior officials of Toastmaster commented that the Mindtune waves toastmasters launching ceremony conducted at Ideal School was the first public Toastmasters event with public participation in Qatar, were more than 400 people attended the program. Our club re-leased the third newsletter in the eighth month of our club’s inception. We are very thankful to our Area Director, TM Yoosaf Van-narath and other leaders, mentors for their excellent support and guidance which always became an inspiration to our club. I express my gratitude to all for their support and encourage that I received during my term and I am really happy for getting an op-portunity to become the founder president of an energetic club. FCC Vanitha Club President’s Message

I t’s been a great honor representing FCC Vanitha toastmaster club blessed with such dynamic members. I shall always strive my best to keep up the trust and do the best to make our club reach its zenith. Before joining toastmasters, I used to avoid all possible instances of public speaking. I had the fear of speech, speech- o- phobia, that’s how I term it. I was good at raising my voice in a group, could sing a solo song and even dance but never attempted to say few words all alone in the crowd with all eyes staring at me. The very thought made me nervous and left me dumbfounded. Well even now I don’t claim that I am a fearless speaker but can definitely can take up the op-portunities provided. Toastmasters are the reason for this change. FCC Vanitha Vedi, the women’s wing of Friends cultural center is a group of vibrant ladies who has immense planning and organ-izational capability yet lacked effective communication skills. They restricted themselves from appearing on stage & the main culprit was the fear of public speaking. This had to change and we were always seeking a way out for this. Our dynamic Area 53 leader AD Yoosaf Vannarath brought in this transformation by opening the doors for the formation of our lovely club, FCC Vanitha Toastmas-ters. Believe us or not, within few months since inception the level of growth has been incredible. Some of the main highlights of our club are: A grand first meeting on Feb 27th 2016 witnessing around 55 guests under the gracious presence of toastmasters dignitaries—Division Q director DTM Raghavan and Area 53 director TM Yoosaf Vanarath.. Our representation as a newbie in the area contest held on 18th March 2016 ;wherein our fresh toastmasters catered as registration leads, Sergeant at arms and Contest chair. Our young speakers TM Fasna and TM Fasila kept our heads high with their dazzling per-formances in international speeches and table topics.Our vibrant TM Nufaisa also showcased a phenomenal rendering as a test speaker for the Qatar Malayalam toastmasters club contest . A Spectacular ice breaking night was held on 4th June 2016, with 10 ice breaking speeches and 10 evaluations and all meeting roles solely performed by our club members. With this meeting we have completed all our members icebreaking, 29 icebreaking in 3 months, with some members already leaping into their p2 and P3 projects is a great achievement by itself. Attained the distinguished club status within a short span. Lauch of our first newsletter Ithal within the first quarter of our formation. Our VPPR TM Sunila Jabbar and editorial team TM Manju Milan & TM Fousiya Basith has dedicated their heart and soul in its completion. Chartered on the most remarkable day, Feb 22nd 2016, the birthday of Dr. Ralph Smedley , I am sure FCC Vanitha Toastmasters is going to keep the toastmasters flag always high. Our core strength is our enthusiastic members who are highly focused and all our meetings are highly informative, energy packed sessions. The credit to our success so far goes to our AD TM Yoosaf Vannarath, a great leader and motivator reaching to help and guide us at any time of the day. We have also been blessed with wonderful mentors from other clubs who have been continually helping our fellow toastmasters with their valuable feedback and suggestions. We are very glad to be awarded as best new club of the year 2015-106 in Division Q. Toastmasters are far more than just public speaking. In my view, it's a personal development program that improves confidence, self-esteem, interpersonal and leadership skills. It allows us to grow at our rate under our own comfortable zone. I have realized that Toastmasters has empowered me to take on greater challenges in my life, and discover many of my internal strengths. Area 53 Contest 2016

The Area 53 contest 2016 was a power packed contest which enthralled more than 80 audiences in awe. The Venue Shalimar Palace hotel banquet hall was beautifully decorated radiating elegance in every nook and corner on 18th March 2016. The registration team was present at the venue way before the time and managed the assigned task meticulously. Special appre-ciation to TM Sumayya Thaseen, TM Manju Milan and TM Sabitha Saifudheen The sergeant at arms performed their assigned duties with perfec-tion which includes the welcome address and other announce-ments and catering to all the audio, food and stationary arrange-ments. They also guided the contestants to showcase an effective and flawless contest. The Event began in time as per the agenda with the greetings from chief sergeant at arms TM Mohammed Kallat followed by the inaugural address of the Area director TM Yoosaf Vannarath. The enigmatic master of ceremony TM Abida Subair who took over the stage next, rocked the entire show by constantly enter-taining the audience without letting anyone to snoozeoff. Her classic delivery emitted freshness throughout and eased the herculean task. The Contest Chairs TM Aparna Ranish , TM Sajina Manshur , TM Prathibha Ramesh and TM Manesh Mohan precisely con-ducted their respective contests giving no room for any chaos or interruption. TM Prathiba Ramesh’s Laughing Yoga during post lunch session stirred up the spirit of the audience who would have otherwise landed in slumber after a delightful lunch. This was one of the major highlight of the contest.

The silent role players like timers (TM Firos Salam , TM Ad-bul Majeed, TM Mansib and TM Saifudheen ) and tally count-ers (TM Seshacharan, TM Sanila , TM Jayasundara, TM Noorulhack) all executed their respective roles in excellence. The Chief judges DTM Dr. M S Babu and TM Nasimudheen with their anonymous panel of judges well executed their re-sponsibilities. The participants and winners equally demonstrated marvelous performance giving a tough time for the judge’s in scrutinizing their analytical skills. Congratulations to all the winners. The contest Manager TM Shainy Kabeer deserves special ap-preciation for her exceptional co-ordination and team manage-ment skills which is one of the key factor behind the success of this event. The club PRO TM Noorulhack showcased an excellent job starting from venue arrangement till the event closure. Area 53 acknowledges your peerless efforts with great thanks for all your contribution towards the success of the contest. The Photographer TM Mohd Shafeer the silent player of the day graciously captured all the glorious moments brilliantly and these will remain treasures that will be relish forever. All the senior toastmasters guided, supported and cheered the role players and contestants throughout; contributing their pre-cious time and energy and is well recognized and appreciated by all fellow toastmasters.

On behalf of area 53, I would like to extend a special gratitude to

TM Anil Nair (ADD-club growth) for his presence,

monitoring and timely intervention when and where required, his

assistance to the audio quality management etc just for the success of

the area contest even though he doesn’t have any special assignment

on this day.

I would like to thank all the five club’s excom members for

making sure that everything from their club side is smooth,

getting the members, contestants and role players to the

venue on time and also all the support for the success of the

contest.

I would like to appreciate the Mindtune Waves Toastmasters

just started four months back for fielding two contestants

each to all category and showcasing good performance, some

of which were highly appreciated by the audience.

The new baby club chartered less than a month before the

FCC Vanitha Toastmasters fielded contestants in two catego-

ries and made a tough competition in those categories which

is also highly appreciated by

everyone.

Toastmasters Education Program This post will be helpful for many Toastmasters who are relatively new to Toastmasters. This post concerns itself with the Toastmasters education program.

The education program is split into two tracks. 1. Communication Track 2. Leadership Track

There are 4 levels in communication track. 1. Competent Communicator 2. Advanced Communicator Bronze 3. Advanced Communicator Silver 4. Advanced Communicator Gold

There are 4 levels in leadership track 1. Competent Leader 2. Advanced Leader Bronze 3. Advanced Leader Silver 4. Distinguished Toastmaster

There are requirements to be fulfilled for each level in each track. The graphics in the next few pages would be helpful for good understanding
