Women’s History Month: Celebrating Women In InnovationIn March 8, 2017, PG&E co-hosted “Women’s History Month Workshop” with Astra- Women’s Business Alliance. The event reflected on the struggles women have faced throughout history and, more importantly, celebrated their triumphs and successes. It was also an event to reflect on women’s common values regarding inclusion, prosperity, safety and the environment. The interactive workshop included a presentation by Kathy Kay, VP of IT Technology and PG&E’s Olivia Trinko, mentorship director of the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (W-STEM) Employee Network Group at PG&E. It was a fun-filled educational afternoon with discussions around innovation and technology.

Supply Chain Responsibility Black History Month Safety WorkshopOn January 17, 2017, PG&E’s Supply Chain Responsibility team hosted a “Diverse Suppliers are Safe” workshop in honor of Black History Month. Over 90 African American business community members attended the event. Valerie Bell, VP of IT Operations, and Dionne Adams, Black Employee Resource Group President, welcomed attendees with opening remarks. The workshop focused on the historical relevance of African American history and business, while providing suppliers an opportunity to learn about safety topics, such as cybersecurity, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the role safety should play in our daily lives.

Terra Pacific Group (TPG) is a full service environmental engineering firm that offers a broad range of expert environmental services to PG&E and other private and public sector companies. TPG, a Hispanic-owned business entered into its first Master Service Agreement (MSA) with PG&E in 2010. In 2015, TPG was selected as one of only four companies PG&E uses to address soil contamination from historic practices at PG&E facilities. These are highly technical projects that are performed in collaboration and coordination with several state and municipal stakeholders. It was through this work that TPG was recognized in 2016 as PG&E’s Small Business Supplier of the Year.

Over the years, TPG has consistently ranked as the #1 or #2 Environmental Remediation supplier in quarterly and semi-annual PG&E scorecard evaluations. TPG has maintained this performance ranking by methodically aligning its operations and resources to meet the needs of PG&E.

For example, at the Fresno Gas Load Center cleanup in 2016, TPG re-sequenced its construction activities mid-flight on numerous occasions to accommodate our Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Services (CRESS) redevelopment plans. This captured millions of dollars in cost savings for PG&E. While the CRESS accommodation resulted in several months of delay in the start of cleanup activities, real-time execution phasing and re-sequencing by TPG absorbed construction start delays, eliminating $750,000 in additional hard demobilization charges and capturing $2 million in savings in the first six months of 2016.

TPG also strives to minimize pollution and waste, conserve energy and water, protect habitat, support renewable energy resources, buy environmentally friendly products and encourage environmentally preferable transportation. TPG also extends these efforts to its contractors and suppliers, encouraging them to meet the PG&E standards of environmental performance. Lastly, as part of TPG’s commitment to sustainable practices, they have established a series of voluntary reduction goals for greenhouse gases, energy, water and waste.

Terra Pacific Group is a shining example of a high performing, innovative, safe, and customer-focused supplier that is not only diverse but also creating savings and value to PG&E.

PG&E does not endorse using any specific supplier. This article is strictly for informational and educational purposes only.
