Environmental Public Health Week 2006

On behalf of the National Executive Council of the Canadian Insti-tute of Public Health Inspectors, it is my pleasure to announce the celebration “Environmental Public Health Week 2006” in Canada the week of January 2-8. Re: “Environmental Public Health Quotes” Sept 2005. I was impressed with the new national news letter. It has some good information in it. But one suggestion, if I may, drop the quotes (cleaning the pole for pole dancers). It was not necessary and in my mind lowered the level of professional-ism that we are trying to achieve. There is a time and place for all of this, but I do not believe that a national newsletter is it. I just wanted to pass this on.

Shendra Brisdon, CIPHI BC Re: “Environmental Public Health Quotes” Sept 2005. I really like the PHI quotes section. I tried to a section in our Ontario Branch newsletter called "we asked you." We threw out a question in each issue and asked people to respond back for the following issue. We tried it for four issues and only ever got one response back ... The fact that you are getting participation makes me jealous!

CI P H I 71S T AEC C L O S I N G R E M A R K S How time flies! It has already been two months since the conclusion of the 2005 CIPHI 71st Annual Educa-tional Conference. On behalf of Ron de Burger, Chair and myself I would like to thank the conference plan-ning committee for their hard work and dedication that made this event such a success. Congratulations on a job well done!

The evaluation forms were very positive! We are pleased that everyone enjoyed their time in Toronto as seen in some of the photos in the following pages. As with most conferences the great successes wouldn’t be there if weren’t for the support of our many spon-sors and exhibitors! We hope that the time and effort that each and every one of the individuals, companies and organizations that participated felt the event to be beneficial and worthwhile. Thank you to all who par-ticipated!

I guess you never know what you are going to see when you walk into a premise to do an inspection. Here is one of the oddest violation I had to put on a report:“No animals are allowed to be present in the food prep

area. Please remove the parrot from the food prep counter”.
