Auditions for the Royal Players production of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are sched-

uled for Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 9, at 7 p.m. Performance dates are

April 23-26 and April 30-May 3. The director for this production is Frank O. Butler.

Many people list Lee’s novel as their favorite book of all time. It won a Pulitzer Prize and has

become an American classic. Young Scout Finch lives with her father, Atticus Finch, an attor-

ney, and her older brother Jem in Maycomb, Alabama in 1935. When Tom Robinson, a black

man, is accused of raping a white woman, Mayella, Atticus represents him, putting his own

family in danger.

There will be cold readings from the script. There are crowd scenes parts for ages ten and

up. Specific role requirements will be outlined in the Facebook event. This will be the original

version of the play, not the revised. Auditions will be at the Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market, in

Downtown Benton. Website is theroyalplayers.com. Phone is 501-315-5483.

One way to show support for the Royal Players is to become a voting member. Membership runs from January through December. Individuals pay $15, and family membership (2 votes, every-one listed) is $25. There is a form on the web site with instructions. The membership meeting was well

attended, and the slate of officers and

board was accepted by acclamation.
