Indian Academy of Acupuncture Science run by Indian Institute of Holistic Medicines is the biggest Acupuncture institute of its kind in India. It was founded in 1983 A.D. by Prof. Sir. Dr. P. B. Lohiya. The Academy is affiliated to International open university of complimentary Medicines Srilanka Chapter of Medicina Alternativa established as per 1962 World Health Organisation Alma Ata declaration which is further recognised by United Nations peace University. It is also affiliated to Indian branch of World Association of Chinese Medicine. Motto of the Academy is to spread the ancient Medical Science of Acupuncture.

Indian Academy of Acupuncture Science has conducted many training & treatment camps in all the major cities of India. The Academy also has its permanent Treatment, Training & Research centres at Bombay, Pune & Aurangabad. The Academy has so far trained 3000 student doctors from India & abroad. Through it’s camps & treatment centres it has treated around 15 lakh patients in India.

Acupuncture being a drugless remedy it has no side effects, is economical & hence proving to be a great boon to developing countries like India. Prof. Sir. Dr. P. B. Lohiya established Indian Academy of Acupuncture Science in order to propogate Acupuncture in India.

Prof. Sir. Dr. P. B. Lohiya has been awarded many International Accolades for his great contribution in this field. In 1995 Dr. P. B. Lohiya & Dr. Swati Lohiya had presented a paper in an international conference (China) which was awarded as the best paper in the conference. In 2001 they were honoured with “Honourable friend of the Institute” in Poland. Both of them have visited many countries in the world to present their papers on the research in the field of Acupuncture. They have authored many books in Acupuncture.

Dr. Sachin P. Lohiya, Chief Acupuncturist in Indian Academy of Acupuncture Science is basically an allopathic doctor trained in the art of Acupuncture at the International College of Acupuncture in Beijing (China). He received “Gold Ox Award” in Beijing (China) for his paper on “Disc Prolapse & Acupuncture”.

Dr. Neeta & Dr. Sarang Lohiya are also qualified medical doctors, now practicing only Acupuncture.

Long snake moxibustion & Acupuncture given. Curvature of vertebral column corrected to remarkable degree.Gullaine Barre syndrome (XmoÝhr nm`mMm bH$dm) - Male 25 years R/O Gunj. Came to our centre in Oct. 92 with paralysis of both lower limbs due to G. B. Syndrome. Completely cured in 6 courses of acupuncture. At present employed at our centre.Rheumatoid Arthritis (g§YrdmV) - Female 28 years R/O Parli. Family history +ve, R.A. factor +ve. Within 6 courses of Acupuncture, R. A. factor became-ve. Suffered from Fracture T 12 vertebra due to accident, leading to paralysis of both legs. Advised surgery with complete bed rest by ortho. Surgeon. Patient came to us to avoid surgery (Feb. 2000). Complete recovery within 5 days. Started walking without support from 6th day. Urine and bowel habits returned to normal.Addiction (ì`gZ) - Male 30 years R/O Aurangabad. Smoked 80 cigarettes daily. Treated in 1990. 25% reduction in number of cigarettes daily, after each treatment. Stopped smoking after 5 days.Azoospermia (ZnwgH$Ëd) - Male 35 years R/O Parli-Vaijnath. Treated in 1983. Semen analysis disclosed presence of sperm after 30 sittings. Wife conceived thereafter. 3 deliveries followed by tubectomy done in our hospital.Optic Atrophy (A§YËd) - Female 32 years R/O Hyderabad. Treated in 1988. Before treatment, only finger counting was possible. Normal vision in 10 sittings only.Retinitis Pigmentosa (A§YËd) - Male 35 years R/O Mumbai. Vision considerably diminished. Treatment in 2000. Marked improvement in vision after each course of He-Ne LASER therapy.

Chronic Renal Failure ({H$S>Zr \o$ë`yAa) - Male 40 years R/O Mumbai. Brought to us in 1998. Was on dialysis twice a week. After starting treatment, the duration between two dialysis could be gradually increased. Considerable recovery within 80 sittings. Blood urea, Serum creatinine decreased and Hb% increased. Skin colour changed from black to normal. At present we are treating many such cases. Success rate is very high. Most of the cases start responding after 3-5 sitting only.Acute disc Prolapse ( L5-S1) (_UŠ`m_Yrb JmXr gaH$Uo) - Patient was adviced immediate surgery. He could not turn even in bed and was brought on stretcher in Hyderabad Camp. Dr. Lohiya inserted only two needles in the opposite hand. Patient could walk within five minutes and surgery was successfully avoided.
