Welcome to the final edition of Sunshine News from the 2017-2019 Board. This newsletter is an important means of staying in touch with women involved in CWCI throughout the Sunshine Region.

We trust you will find it both encouraging and informative.

Chairman’s Reflections...

Now may the God of peace equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Hebrews 13:20-21.

In the KYB study on Simon Peter—A Life Transformed we read “Peter challenges us to hear Christ’s call, to choose to follow Jesus. God used everything that happened to Peter to grow his faith, renew his attitudes and goals, and conform him into the likeness of Jesus”. Peter started his journey as a rough fisherman but through God’s refining he was able to become a faithful shepherd of the flock.

When this year comes to an end, so does my time as Sunshine Regional Board Chairman. I would like to thank everyone who has faithfully walked with me over these last six years. It has been my pleasure to work with you and to oversee the work of CWCI in this region. Like Peter, we have

been challenged, and our reliance on God has deepened as a result.

At the end of 2018 we were able to have our current Australian National Management Board President, Heather Jackson, attend our board meeting and Sunshine Region Encouragement Day. Heather showed us there are many doors of opportunity open to us. She encouraged us to step forward allowing God to equip us for the future of this wonderful ministry in our region. My prayer is that women around this region will take up this challenge to make CWCI relevant for women in the years that are ahead.

Robyn Sansbury, Chairman

2017-2019 Board with Heather Jackson ANMB President

Training Day Reflections …

Have you ever noticed how many times Jesus and food are mentioned in the Gospels? They record him eating at weddings, Jewish Passovers, with ‘sinners’ and tax collectors, amongst the multitudes, in the Upper room, on the beach… Meals feature so

prominently that scholars quip: ‘Jesus ate his way through the Gospels’. Without surprise, the second coming of Christ is also conceived as a meal – the ‘wedding supper of the lamb’ (Rev 19). In the spirit of following Jesus, CWCI committee women and KYBers ate very well, and very often, at the Sunshine Regional Board Training Day Workshop in June! Over 70 women developed friendships and experienced community because of the delicious nutritional treats provided on the day. The relational richness was facilitated by those who cheerfully served by preparing the lunch and snacks (and then washing up the dishes!). Have you ever observed how often the Messiah centred on kingdom purposes when celebrating over food? Jesus demonstrated that people are important no matter what their circumstances, or their sin, or their social status. Jesus is the true ‘Bread of Life’. Christ laid down His life for others; He restores broken individuals. The Training Day ran beautifully to time, with efficiency, expertise, humility, and warmth. lead each Unit; guidelines for encouraging good Bible discussions, and effective KYB summaries; and strategies for ‘Speaking up with Confidence’ in up-front roles. ‘Let’s Flourish’, was the vision for this event. Keynote speaker, Angela May, addressed the topic asking, “Are you thriving or just surviving?” I was challenged to spend more time basking in God’s presence, and quality time reading His Living Word.

Angela May – Keynote Speaker

Yes! Jesus did spend a lot of time with food and people and teaching as well as demonstrating the Kingdom of God. But Jesus also spent much time in prayer, listening to the Father, and reading the Scriptures. The Training Day was covered in prayer. Books were available to encourage women in their roles of leadership and as faith-filled Christians. As we keep following Jesus we will flourish, producing abundant fruit which glorifies God. Joyfully, Chris Pilt. (Chris is a KYB Leader at Bridgeman Baptist Community Church)

New Speaker Profile

We are pleased to introduce Rosemarie Green who has recently joined the Sunshine Region Speakers Panel.

Please join us in welcoming Rosemarie and continue to uphold her and all our Speakers before the Lord in prayer as they serve faithfully by proclaiming God’s word.

Rosemarie is always happy when she is exploring God’s Word and seeing how it beautifully showcases God’s elegant story of cosmic transformation, that has come through the Lord Jesus. She enjoys studying alone and with women in groups. She has been blessed to learn from many wise women who have been committed to

applying God’s truth to their unique circumstances and personal struggles. Even more exciting is the transformation in women’s lives that she has witnessed, as they have taken God’s Word seriously. Rosemarie is settling into life in Brisbane after living in the USA for 33 years. While overseas she completed a Masters of Biblical Studies from Westminster Theological Seminary. She has taught the Bible to women; been a Children’s Pastor, a wife and a mum. She is happy to be back in the land of her birth, where she has joined a KYB group, but is sad to be separated from her two adult children, Mitchell and Adelaide. Rosemarie is married to Doug, who is a lecturer in Old Testament at Queensland Theological College. Together they enjoy being “tourists” and sharing Queensland’s beauty with visiting friends from overseas. They also enjoy watching Shakespeare plays, going to the cricket and eating a good Aussie meat pie! Her areas of special interest include: • Small home meetings • Exhortation and encouragement • Bible Teaching
