Combining fish and vegetable production (Aquaponic system)

The water cycle is expected to be closed, wastewater effluents to be reduced, energy efficiency to be enhanced, nutrients to be recovered and CO2 emissions to be lowered

INAPRO-system will be modular and scalable, therefore adaptable to local conditions

Test and validation under different conditions by 9 demo-objects

Strengthen standardization of products, processes and management systems in this field

Breakthrough for these systems towards commercialization

Mobilise industry, member states and stakeholders into promoting INAPRO

Improve market access for EU industry and SMEs

Project objectives and ideas of INAPRO

INAPRO- Demo objects- rural areas

Main parameters

 total size ca. 600 m²

housing 200 m² fish farm building + 400 m² vegetables greenhouse - connected

 15-20 m³ fish tank volume: 10 t fish; 10-12 t tomatoes

max. daily food amount:< 40 kg

water consumption: less than 1% of system volume/ day(instead of 20% in conventional aquaponic systems)
